Questions aside let me know what your thoughts are Chris on this seasonal chart for Lean Hog?

Personally I'd want to see more than three years to have confidence in the study.

Chris

I have been using charts with data since 2006. That is about when electronic trading started and it changed markets.

As I start to look at diversifying my writing in CL I have considered Lean Hog. But looking at the front month continuous contract I have noticed that in every August price seems to gap down.

Could someone let me know if I am doing something wrong (data from Quandl) or let me know what I might not be understanding here in Lean Hog? Thanks in advance.

There are some contracts where a continuous chart isn't really useful because of the big difference in price between contracts. LH is one. Others are LC, NG, RB, HO, and grains when the switch between old crop-new crop happens.

RB is higher in summer during driving season and lower during winter when less driving is happening. Those prices changes are built in. Mar RB is 2.64. Apr is 2.79.

HO is higher winter because of heating demands and lower summer because of no heating demand. Same for NG. Nov NG is 3.58. Jan is 3.87.

LC and LH are seasonal because of timing of demand and supply.

Hey guys,

I got a few brokerage accounts, but after reading the review of OX, I think I may give that a try. The commission seems quite high though, especially for someone like me who like to trade frequently with smaller lots. How did you guys get special discounted rate from OX?

I enjoy the discussion here. Thanks everyone.

$3.50 per contract per turn for futures and options is their standard rate for everyone.

Thanks for your correction. The customer rep I was just talking to had a misunderstanding. Indeed, the OX website shows the rate of $3.50 for futures and futures options per contract.

Have you guys used anything other than OX, TOS, or IB? I am using IB and now I am thinking about moving to another broker. OptionsHouse (OH) and TradeKing (TK) do not offer options on futures, unfortunately.
