For many years, I have used IB. The platform is very stable and relatively easy to use. IB's commission is the lowest I have found. Unfortunately, IB's margin requirements for some reason is extremely high when it comes to selling future options, so I switched to OX beginning this year. While the margin requirements are much lower at OX, I am not thrilled about their platform compared to IB. With that said, I have not had any real issues with OX either, it's just that after 10 years of using IB's TWS, I am still not that comfortable using OX. Then again, since I am selling far OTM strikes, it is not necessary to have all of the functions that I had with IB.

On a side note, I have found that IB's margin requirements are way more friendly than OX when it comes to stock option selling......so it really comes down to your own preference and what you are trading. Going forward, I will probably fund my IB account to trade stock options and continue to use my OX account to trade futures options.

Thanks guys for the info.

Its a shame but the last few weeks has been absolute BS with OX for me. If you don't get to speak to the same person, the information is different every time, and even the same guy has different information from week to week. Trade Calc from what I have been told is not on their priority list as they can't re-create the event at their office. While I can still get the spread info I need from the spreadsheet that Ron kindly posted, its still an arse-ache.

End result for me is the lower margin outweighs the smaller commission from IB.........

Appreciate the comments....

Quoting
West Texas Intermediate oil climbed near $100 a barrel on concern that protests in Egypt will threaten supplies and speculation that U.S. stockpiles shrank last week. Trading volume was the most in 16 months.

Crude rose to a 14-month high as the political showdown escalated in Egypt, which controls the Suez Canal, a key transit point for oil tankers. Hundreds of thousands massed to demand the departure of President Mohamed Mursi. Inventories may have dropped to the lowest level since May 31, according to a Bloomberg survey before government data tomorrow. Brent’s premium over WTI narrowed to the least in almost 30 months.

“There is some genuine concern with regard to vessel traffic to the Suez,” said Stephen Schork, president of the Schork Group Inc. in Villanova, Pennsylvania. “WTI is acting as a proxy for these geopolitical concerns.”

However, this may be somewhat over reactive:

Quoting
U.S. crude stockpiles fell 2.25 million barrels, or 0.6 percent, to 391.9 million in the week ended June 28, the Bloomberg survey showed. Refineries probably increased operating rates to the highest level in more than 10 months as motor fuel production climbed before the U.S. Independence Day holiday on July 4, the survey showed.

“There is still some room for some bullish supply numbers,” said Tim Evans, an energy analyst at Citi Futures Perspective in New York. “You really want to sell oil ahead of inventory data that may show some sharp drops? There is a lot of price chasing going on.”

From a technical perspective while we broke above $100 on the August contract we have further nearby resistance at $102-$103 and $110 that are substantial levels on the weekly and monthly charts.

Oil inventory drops just about every year the last week of June. And the main reason for the drop this year was decreased imports.

And prices usually rise in July because of the drop in inventory.

Might be a while before selling CL puts with a shorter holding time (~30 DTE) that are in the '75 per barrel' safe zone with decent premium. Probably going to have to add another few weeks of premium to make the return decent. Once Egypt calms down we might get some kind of pullback to make those puts a little more worthy. Holding previous CL puts and ES puts right now and that's it until the #'s on Friday come out.

Happy 4th of July!

For the 30+ years I've lived here, I've never seen so much rain in Panama City Beach.

The Ark is ready to leave the dock.

My mother used to say 'I've never seen rain like it'. She probably said it at least twice a month for all of her 83 years.
