Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:

  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one doing Cotton calls. This trade is my first one against the current trend (even though seasonals have a tendency down and even though fundamentals are mixed) so I'm feeling the stress lol.

I put mine on last week. Then on Monday they raised margin by 23%. The ROI isn't very good now. Monthly 1.8%.

Depends on the price. I got mine in this morning at 0.06. $25 after commissions, margin $108, buffer $216. I'm showing a 3.08% ROI.

With futures being up today the margin will be higher tomorrow. It will probably be about the same 1.8%.

Thanks for that info. Are you getting the info on the margin hikes from your SPAN calculator? Seems like that is one handy tool.

I'm on ICE's email list to be notified of the margin changes like the one that happened Monday. When they raise futures margin by 23%, options margins increase by that much too.

But my statement saying the margin would go up from 108 tonight is based on the fact that futures are up today. I don't know how much and it depends on where it settles.

ICE does not put out new SPAN margins on options during the trading day.
