Is the OEC demo datafeed different from the live datafeed?
Is the OEC demo datafeed different from the live datafeed? I ask because the demo quotes on the DOM and chart seem to lag behind other accurate providers - particularly at market open. thanks much.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Thank you tturner86, I appreciate your feedback. In particular, I've had a reputable IB inform me that the demo has had problems as of late but the "live" account is stable. Does this sound right? I would think that it is exactly the same datafeed? For example, I spoke with someone representing the TransactAT platform and he told me the datafeed is the same (OEC vs TA). Just scratching my head on this looking for a reliable (more consistent) platform, particularly during market open. Thanks!
My live OEC will lag from time to time, but I have had no issues with my orders filling where the DOM says they should. At max I have only had 4-6 ticks of slippage, usually it is a tick or so if that.
I also check my statements and everything always lines up.
Just an update.....3 years later....I use OEC/Gain now and I'll have my live account running on my desktop and my demo running on my laptop and I don't see any difference. Both the demo and live version seems to keep up with volatility but I also know you can call Gain Capital and ask questions if you have any about the datafeed. They are actually pretty helpful and seem to know their stuff
Is this based on your experience or you just busy stuffing all the threads with one line?
