Guys,

I've been considering Kiva for our next fund rasing/donation project --- where I would donate 100% of all new Elite Memberships to the cause.

I don't know much about Kiva. So I wanted to ask you guys what you thought about them, and if you think it is a good place for our community to support.

Kiva - About Us

I figured for each new Elite Membership, I would create a new microloan payment -- fund someones project -- for the amount of the Elite Membership ($25 or $50).

Kiva - Loans that change lives

Does this sound like it would work? A good idea? A bad idea?

Mike

Very good idea Mike and with the loan repayment you can keep it perpetual, you should allow free donation for existing members as well. I like the idea that you can track the project for your donation. If you need support for the PR just PM me

HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE FAN.

I started doing it a few years ago from an invitation of a friend. I now have a non-profit and the money I have that would normally be sitting in the bank account goes into this account.

I have attached my loan info to see the typical losses etc..

I only loan to those with a short repayment term and typically almost all female and do my best to do single's over groups.

You can join my Sunrise group. I love it.

I concur with the single and female as well....The stats prove the women are far more likely to pay back and one of my favorite books..."Leaving Microsoft To Change The World" laid out a great case for investing in females vs males....the males often use the money for less than admirable pursuits where as the women have a family to care for and are highly driven to care for their children.....

Later on Mike, you may investigate, https://www.roomtoread.org/ I have sponsored here as well.

This is a great idea, I'd considered them before but not got round to it. A win win situation for everyone as far as I can see. Positive Karma all round.

Our Sunday School class started one a number of years back, to help the poor struggling business person in South America (Bolivia, I think. St. Paul's United Methodist church helps run a school in Cochabamba). Also, nothing but good to say about the program. The class treasurer recently did a presentation & said they have had 100% repayment success rate and it has helped hundreds of folks who, otherwise, would have had no other option.

After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!

My team has had a few slow pay loans, but otherwise it has been a great success for us too.
