Democrats? What about the Republicans? I'm a Republican and I can't tell the difference any more.

I'm starting to think the same way, unfortunately.

A lot of selfish answers, in the last posts.

In 2007, there were nearly 46 million people in the US (over 15% of the population) who were without health insurance for at least part of that year. Over 1 million workers lost their health care coverage in January, February and March 2009. Approximately, 268,400 more workers lost health care coverage in March 2009 than in March 2008. Proving that today, that number is markedly higher as many workers who have lost their jobs have also lost their employer-provided health insurance. The percentage of the non-elderly population who are uninsured has been generally increasing since the year 2000.

The problem I see is that politicians engage in rhetoric to make their points and gain support. The unfortunate thing is that rhetoric has no substance, no tangible result. But rhetoric is believed and regarded by the public as "real" and vote for that. If my Mom or Dad caught me engaging in rhetoric when I was growing up, I received "REAL" discipline.

So is the answer to this growing problem more government intervention...I can't believe that could ever be the answer.

Well private industry has always done a bang-up job when it was allowed to provide for the public, hasn't it. I mean, who DIDN'T benefit when Glass-Stegall was repealed and banking regulations were relaxed to allow the banks to do more with less? Everyone got more money then, right?

And competition, a pillar of free market enterprise, has done so incredibly well to drive down health insurance premiums now hasn't it. Who wouldn't think LESS government intervention would allow private corporations to do so much more for this country?

Well guys.

Very bad news again today.

The ortho surgeon could not fix it, it is too severe for him, one of the worst he has ever seen. So a third referral now to a super-duper-special-specialist surgeon, the best in Dallas, which I see tomorrow morning. And now also many thousands of dollars.

They will put me under and have to screw in several pins into my finger due to how bad and nature of the fractures. All the meanwhile the pain is escalating.

I am not going to be able to respond much on forum for a while because it is now so difficult to type, but I will do best I can.

Mike

These things take time to heal. I've a friend who broke both her arms at NYE and she still can't move one of her arms.

Am so sorry to hear Big Mike. Health is so precious. If a medical donation thread, count me in. I could see some fee here anyway, given the uniqueness of what you've created. Though I'd hope a free pass for those genuine contributors who like you make this the valuable place it is.
