The bear is the heraldic animal of both Bern and Berlin. The first attachment shows the of city arms of Bern, the second one those of Berlin.
This is the reason that the stock exchanges of Bern and Berlin are pretty small compared to Zurich and Frankfurt. The bears have always been in control.

Thanks for the information. Yeah I recall now the Bear of the Berlin Film Festival.
Perhaps Bern promote quite extensively the bear as a tourist attraction. When I recall the moments at Bern I always think of the Bear stuffs. Have also been to Berlin twice, it's full of great architecture in my mind.
