I recently started watching Breaking Bad.

Wow, I like it

Without spoiling anything (everything I'll write below happens in episode #1): It's about a middle aged man (I think he turns 50?), he has a physically disabled son and his wife is pregnant. He is a high school chemistry teacher.

He finds out he has stage 3 lung cancer.

He decides to start cooking meth and selling it to pay for his cancer bills, and to leave his family some money when he is dead and buried. But he doesn't tell them....

Very interesting show.

A week or two ago I watched the series finale of Entourage. I don't think I posted about it... anyway, what a huge freaking disappointment. I'll try not to spoil anything in case you haven't seen it, but the episode was a disaster, the entire season in fact was a major let down.

The only saving grace was the very, very end of the last episode --- after the credits --- that involved Ari and his wife. I loved that scene. And many have speculated it left it wide open for a movie to continue the franchise. I'm willing to bet the majority of people didn't even see the scene, since it was after the end credits finished rolling.

'Breaking Bad' is an excellent show and is one of my favorites. Just watched the most recent episode this evening. Quality.

Some of the light (and non-engaging) stuff on Disney or Nickelodeon (sometimes).
==========================================================

Jade: But you admit you threatened Trina.

Tori: NO!

Robbie: Wait... I did kinda hear you tell Trina you were going to kill her.

Cat: So did I.

Disney isn't what it used to be...

Yes, in fact I was appalled at some of the stuff I was hearing when at a friends house with kids... totally unbelievable the type of crap on TV targeted at children.

I think Brittish humor is different then American humor. There have been several popular British comedies that have been remade in the US verbatim with the exact British script with American actors, and they have all done poorly in the States. One of these that come to mind was a sitcom named 'Couples'. It got canceled only after a few episodes. The sitcom 'The Office' came from the UK, and has been really popular in the states, but they only used the show's concept, not verbatim scripts from the original. With this approach, I think the strength of that show is based directly on the main actor's (Steve Carell) comedic style. I don't think Ricky Jervais, the main actor in the British series would have been able to carry the show here.

First of all, there is no need to redo them.

I think the US version of The Office is an abomination. It can be funny, but not in the same way as the original. Americans don't seem to appreciate the subtlety that is the comedic genius of a show like that.

The US has the best (and often also the worst) of "everything", except for humor. The British and Australians are unbeatable...

That being said, I quite enjoy the "crude" American humor, as well. National Lampoon has made me laugh numerous times... Lethal Weapon, e.g. haha!

Yes, I had a similar experience a little while back. I wonder how the next generation will turn out...

It sure looks like the world is on a fast track to ... I actually don't know what, but I am not positive about the future...
