Since 2007 I've been more than satisfied with OTA HDTV using a quality indoor/outdoor antenna (ClearStream2) and a TiVo HD. I've also recommended this setup many times and those cord cutters have been happy with their choice.

For me personally, specially now that Bloomberg offers a full stream, I doubt I'll ever purchase a TV subscription ever again.

I've been Cable TV/Satellite-less for about 5 years now. I do not even have an OTA antenna.

I read a recent report where 400k people have "cut the cord" this year alone.

US homes drop pay-TV as DirecTV, Comcast, Time Warner lose subscribers | Ars Technica

Sure, every now and then it is a bit challenging, maybe a couple times a year at most, when there is something really important I want to see live but can't find it on the internet.

But I am really much better off overall First, I haven't seen a commercial in 5 years. And second, I don't get stuck watching CNBC or something all day, filling my head with "reasons" the market is doing something.

HD Antennae with a Playstation 3 that I run Hulu Plus, Netflix and Amazon Prime on. I might cancel Netflix because this Amazon Prime is pretty good. Tv's overrated.

Hi Mike

Time Warner Cable in my area for channels 2-99 is about $74.

What I did a number of months ago was to still go with TWC but only get
their channels 2-23 package. (I also get National Geograpic for some reason.)
Doing this allowed me to pay <$13 per month for ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS,
FOX, Weather Channel, ION... but there is no CNBC.

(I would just use a antenna but I live in the Berkshire's. That means lots of
hills, and bad bad bad reception. Just ABC, if that. I tried with a neighbor a couple
years ago.)

Also started HULU at <$8 a month. Unfortunately there are commercials and it's
on my computer screen, not my 37 inch Dynex.

So $13+$8 = $21.

$74 - $21 = $53

So I can spend $50 a month on DVD's (typically using Walmart site to store) and
still be spending less than I was. Just finished Big Bang Theory Season 1. Here is
a clip. Sheldon, a theoretical physicist, makes a comment on engineering.

I don't know if anyone has ever done the figures for the number of households that
have not dropped their cable service but have just down-graded as I have done. TWC
lost about 80% per month from me when I did this.

Maybe a future with more channels is all we need? Wouldn't that be super?! ( hee, hee)

If you don't have access to these programs you're missing some cinema quality entertainment; Smash, Missing, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, and some others.

Watched most of We can't help it-We're men on DVD by Red Green.

It's amusing. I don't think many on this site would get it though. It
really helps to:

*) be a guy (especially married or once married and now over 40)
*) live in up state NY,VT,NH or Maine (or Canada)
*) be uneducated
*) be in the lower class

A couple clips below. The show's ok. It's probably all on you
tube from what I can gather.

I'm not sure I should be thanking you for posting this . This is possibly the most spoiler-filled
trailer I have ever seen. They've entirely ruined the cliffhanger from last season.... Odd choice on Showtime's part.

Anyway, I am excited about the conclusion of the story. I've always loved Dexter but feel the series is and recently has been on the decline.
