I haven't read the entire thread but the last few pages we're enough to make me speak up on this food issue.

I, as a proud American eat lots of beef and pork and enjoy every bit of it.....I'm not a carrot cruncher (though I do like salads)or as my wifes grandmother would say, don't feed me grass I'm not a cow.

I'm only about 10lbs to fat which I will shed after the winter hibernation.....am in perfect health...don't even wear glasses.

I'm not knocking the vegan stuff but,...why ?

Is it a long term heart health thing or cholesterol or what.....I come from a long line of meat eaters that lived in to thier 80s...that's good enough for me.

No. That was just roughly what I use in a 2 day period.

Here are some typical drinks:

4 oranges
1 lb carrots
Makes 1 liter

--

6 apples
2 lemons
1 inch ginger root
half head celery or half head parsley
Makes 1 liter

--

1/2 pineapple
1 mango
1 apple
Half head spinach or half head romaine or half head bok choy
1/3rd bunch watercress
1/3rd bunch parsley
1/3rd bunch wheatgrass
Makes 1 liter

Mike

Thanks. I will try your recipes. I am trying to reduce my cholesterol. What was the name of the website or book that discusses protein again?

For protein basics I would start with Forks Over Knives, a documentary film loaded with case studies. It is similar in format to Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead but addresses meat protein vs plant protein.

Here are some people I follow on YouTube. Mix of recipes and education:

New Year resolution you say??? Mine was to eat MORE meat, Smoke MORE cigars, and drink more booze. NO ONE ever sticks "I'll go to the gym more" I am just a realist is all. I lost 35 pounds of fat off my stomach in 2006 before I went Europe for 2 months. I never touched a weight, and only did cardio in my AT zone. I still to this day have a 32 waist and I am 50.

I'd say if you wanna lose weight figure out what your BMI is and what your daily caloric intake should be for you ht and wt and then cut your calories by 500. Trust me when I say you will lose weight. If you wanna lose FAT do cardio ONLY in your AT zone for 20 minute every day till you get what you want.

Watercress is safe. I juice a large amount with every drink. I buy everything from Whole Foods and buy organic, or will grow my own (as weather improves in a couple months). But I couldn't find anyone that said Watercress is not safe.

I'm no expert myself. Here is some info if you want to check it out.

==============================================================

Watercress crops grown in the presence of manure can be a haven for parasites such as the liver fluke Fasciola hepatica.

Fasciola hepatica, also known as the common liver fluke or sheep liver fluke, is a parasitic flatworm of the class Trematoda, phylum Platyhelminthes that infects the livers of various mammals, including humans.

{Good news, it is seldom seen in North America. I didn't know that. So I was sort of right. Sort of.}

In North America, the disease is very sporadic.

Mike has lost a lot of weight, that is fat. You might try picking up a 35 pound weight,
then imagine what it would be like to have that strapped to your body 24/7.

Good article, read it and make up your own mind. This approach seems to have its pros and cons but I think there is something valuable here.

Kriya Yoga Course 1 (week 1) - YouTube

A very good program for some Yoga and meditation if anyone is interested. I have just started btw.
Hope you dont mind me putting this here Mike....

Did the first 2 weeks(lessons) tonight ...feel great after doing the Asanas(postures).
The alternate nostril breathing is very easy....very conducive to a focus mind....reflective mind.

I think traders would love this as part of their morning startup routine.

Seems no one wanted to watch my video. It is very short and I can almost guarantee you will be shocked at what you learn.
