Maybe this is something that may help you. I am sure that your dogs will like it as well and even prefer it to fingerfood (dog eating finger).

I have never eaten this, I prefer Italian food and fresh salads.

Hi all,

For your guys that trade from Europe, do you use some special diet in order to get the peak performance in the afternoon when there's Wall Street open?

In other words what do you eat for lunch when US traders instead are enjoying their breakfast?

This is what worked (is working) for me..... after my cousin had a heart attack (at 44!) that put an almighty fear into me....so...last year I slowly (key is slowly!) changed my patterns....
  • Eat a lot more often, and smaller portions.
  • Eat when I am NOT hungry (body never gets to that craving level)
  • Stopped buying processed foods (this is a big one)
  • Stopped cooking foods (as raw as possible).
  • Consume more antioxidants, pro-biotics and omegas (for energy, immunity and natural fats)
  • Started consuming small amounts of butter (yes, that is correct...raw natural low sodium butter)
  • Aggressively reduce sodium from diet (this happens the moment we stop buying processed foods)
  • Eat more fruits.
  • More regular lean protein (either boiled and salted or grilled, or dry roasted)
  • Started exercising slowly and increased repetition and intensity over time (currently manage 1hr every alternate day)
  • Sleep a lot (over 9hrs day / at least 12hrs whenever I can manage...nowadays I can manage to squeeze in 12hrs sleep days at least twice a week). The theraputic value of sleep is underrated (people are always looking to cram more into their day or their life by doing more, not sure if that is a healthy way of living...what ever happened to minimalism and balance?)
  • Change attitude in life, become more detached. Less toys, less social involvement...generally less everything. This helps with mental focus and I am sure it helps in trading too.
  • Generally attempt to follow a reduced calorie diet
  • A substantial, healthy, breakfast is crucial (with full natural fat in it)
  • Stay away from hollow foods (no reduced calorie or skimmed stuff). I want the real deal (only in small portions).

The result...I used to be 200lbs last year, now I am about 28 - 32lbs lighter. As I increase the adherence to his lifestyle and refine both activities and diet I aim to lose another 15lbs to be slighty underweight.
My blood pressure has gone down, so has my resting pulse rate and cholesterol (not that any were a problem before but now they are ideal). BP is lower than normal (which is nice).

A lot of this is a little bit extreme and doesn't agree with everyone, but take your pick and run with it. Whatever floats your boat. I found what works for me (obvious trading analogy )

Nothing extreme, but a consistent approach, balanced approach with regular application. Just like my trading )

I have abandoned the above diet and gone completely primal.

The changes on a physical and medical level are staggering. The goal is a stable approach to a stable ketosis level that can be sustained. I could write 3 pages on the changes big and small that it has brought. You owe it to yourselves to read it yourself and make an informed decision.

Best of luck

Bee pollen is different if someone wants to try something new.

It can be put into a smoothie, although I've never tried that.

Bee pollen can be sprinkled onto cereal or incorporated into
other foods.

============================================

smoothie

Ingredients

1 cup apple juice, orange juice, or other favorite. Pure juice ONLY
1 banana
1 egg
1 tbsp natural raw honey
1 tbsp bee pollen granules

============================================

smoothie

serves 2

1 cup nut milk (or other milk)
1 cup blueberries (frozen are fine)
1 frozen banana, in 3 or 4 chunks
1 Medjool date, pitted (optional)
1 hunk of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
1 tsp. bee pollen (to start, work up to 1 Tbsp.)

Directions:

Put everything in a blender and whir it up! Drink immediately.
============================================

Some info to get you started:

My New Roots: What's all the Buzz About? Bee Pollen.

Some people have had serious allergic reactions to bee pollen.
Bee pollen is not for pregnant women.

Anyone with some specific ideas concerning the above scenario?

Thought I would update this thread.

So this year, I decided to become a vegan. A raw vegan at that, as much as possible. It is easy to hit 80% raw. Going to 100% raw requires more work.

For the last 37 days I have had nothing to eat. I have been on a juice fast (some call it a juice feast). It means that I have been getting all my nutrients, minerals, protein and 100% of my calories from vegetables and fruits. Just the juice. I have lost 37 pounds in 37 days just from this alone (no exercising).

Juicing removes the pulp from your drink, so it requires a lot of vegetables and fruit. I am drinking approximately 2-3 liters of juice a day, and another 1-2 liters of water. To give you an idea, here is how much fruit and vegetables I juice about every two days:

- 4 apples
- 2 oranges
- 2 heads of romaine
- 2 heads of bok choy
- 1/2 bunch of cilantro
- 1/2 bunch of parsley
- 1/2 bunch of watercress
- 1/2 head of celery
- 1 pound carrots
- 3 cucumbers
- 1/2 pineapple
- 2 mangoes
- 2 lemons
- 2 inches of ginger root

The above will make approximately 5 liters of juice, or enough for approximately 2 days. Now I have tried various other fruits and vegetables, but the above are my "staples", the ones I consume daily.

Everything is organic. When consuming this level of fruit and vegetables, you definitely do want to buy only organic because otherwise you are putting quite a large amount of pesticides into your body.

Everyone always asks, how much does it cost? I live in Dallas and shop mainly at Whole Foods. I spend around $100 a week. As spring and summer approach, I can rely more on the Farmers Market and also my own garden, which is going to be quite large this summer now that I am going raw/vegan.

Next question everyone asks is where do you get your protein? Well, I highly recommend you watch the excellent movie "Forks over Knives" which answers this question with tons of fact based information, countless research over decades and millions of people, and not just believe me. But I eat more protein in my diet than most American's on the SAD (standard american diet) that eat meat.

So after I stop juicing (date to be determined in future), I will then be focusing on being at least 80% raw and 20% vegan. What this means:

Raw means no food heated above 118 F. Heating food causes all the minerals and nutrients to be cooked out of the food, leaving it dead and vastly inferior in terms of nutrition for your body. Many of you know that white rice is just brown rice with all the nutrients removed, well this same principle applies. You can read many, many excellent books on the subject.

Example of raw foods: salads, smoothies, juicing, eating fruits, soups, etc. The key is don't buy anything that is on the shelf at the grocery store, as processed food has been robbed of almost all its nutritional value by being processed, pasteurized, boiled to remove bacteria and feces, etc. So you want to make everything yourself. I will use my Vitamix to make my own soups, salad dressings, smoothies, and etc. The soups cannot be over 118 F to be "raw". Nothing can contain dairy or meat. No cheese. No animal by products.

Example of vegan: all of the above, plus you can cook things to whatever temperature you want. Again, no dairy and no meat. But with vegan it is certainly possible to prepare meals that are not healthy for you, so don't be fooled that just because it is vegan means it is healthy. You can fry stuff in coconut oil, you can bake all the nutrients out of your food, etc. So the trick is to keep vegan (non-raw) to 20% of your food intake or less, and to then use restraint when choosing your meals so that they can be cooked but still be healthy. Case in point, there are many vegan-friendly things on the market like Daiya cheese, or Vegenaise mayo. But just because they are vegan doesn't mean they are healthy, so try to stay raw as much as possible and choose carefully what you eat on the vegan portion of your diet.

If you eat 3 meals a day, it is quite easy to be 80% raw by making one of those meals a smoothie, and another meal a large salad and/or soup. For families, it might be easier for dinner to be vegan instead of raw, if the whole family is not participating in your diet/lifestyle.

For snacks, the easiest and best snack is fruit! Have an apple, banana, orange! Have some persimmons, have some dates! If you have 2 minutes, throw it in your Vitamix and make it a smoothie! It will satisfy all cravings for sweetness, and still be excellent for your body!

If you have certain cravings from your past, then don't worry - it is possible to mimic some old favorites like Mac 'n Cheese, Pot Roast, Taco's, Chips and Dip, etc etc etc with a vegan lifestyle. Youtube is your friend and is full of excellent user channels with millions of recipes that are truly fantastic.

I did not become a Vegan for ethical reasons. It doesn't bother me to eat dairy, or animal meat. I made this lifestyle change for health reasons, and I feel better than ever.

I encourage all of you to do some research. If there is a lot of interest I can name some of the books in my library to get you started.

Mike

Big Mike,

Congrats on your weight loss. That's quite an accomplishment. You should be proud.

Thanks

I could write for hours to discuss everything so far on this journey, but:

- I am not hungry. I am not starving myself. Not at all.
- I have tons more energy from this diet (lifestyle) alone. No other changes.
- I used to have headaches and migraines almost daily (for sure several times a week). All 100% gone with this.
- I was previously on Advair 500, one of the strongest asthma steroids on the market, and was taking it twice daily just to be able to breathe. With this diet change, I am now completely 100% off my Advair.

Many, many more things, but I think diets are similar to trading. There are no shortcuts, it takes a lot of work, a lot of discipline, and a lot of research. This "diet" (it is really not a diet, but a lifestyle choice) requires tremendous amount of work and discipline and willpower, but the result is so incredibly worth it. And it is not like any other "diet" where you are cramming yourself full of things you cannot pronounce that have huge amounts of side effects, stimulants, or that your body cannot absorb.

Highly recommend that if you are wanting to improve your life, you look squarely at your diet.

Mike
