I hate the forum attachment feature and so do others.

I do not want to have to read, then click to see what the poster is talking about and click back and forth over and over...

If this is going to be a problem, then I guess I won't be posting.

YOUR FORUM, YOUR RULES. I RESPECT THAT. I KNOW YOUR FINGER IS ON THE BAN BUTTON.

But remember, you have readers who's wishes you may want to consider from time to time.

TRO,

Normally such a discussion would be private, but you previously stated you wanted it out in the open.

Can you list some reasons why you hate the attachment feature? I have my reasons for wanting to use it. Chief of which is usability, but also performance and ability to retain images locally on the server.

As for some other things that have been said recently...

My finger is not on the ban button. I've said numerous times your posts are welcome. You've said numerous times you get banned everywhere. I am not sure why I keep having to say you're welcome here, and why you keep having to say you get banned everywhere. I think we can say those things are understood.

I am looking out for the users on my forum. You have a lot to say, a great deal of it is very useful and very valuable information, and I believe a great deal of that comes from experience. You are also very rough around the edges and sometimes come off as rude. I don't think I am telling you anything you don't already know. You are who you are, and I am not trying to change that.

Many users are benefiting from your posts, and it is my hope that many more will continue to do so. Some users have complained about you. I recognize their complaints and don't dismiss them. I also recognize the positive contributions you are making and don't dismiss that.

I am not asking you to do anything that I wouldn't ask someone else to do. So don't take it personally, and don't think every time I disagree with you that you are going to be banned.

Mike

Tinypic

Hi Mike,

I've been following the discussion concerning image attachment. Can you elaborate on what the issues are? Perhaps if we were educated it would be easier to get on board with what works best for you.

Personally, I have found that the image quality is better using tinypic and the ability to study the chart and read the text is a real plus. This seems to make the contributions of forum participants more effective.

Thanks for your consideration in this matter, Jeff

Are you saying the text is unreadable on images hosted on the forum? You are viewing the image full screen I assume? The quality is currently set to High but I suppose I could change it to Maximum, but I've never even thought for a moment the quality of the images was less than stellar.

I think what you might be saying is you want the image to be in-line instead of attached. That is fine, I don't have a real problem with that. You can do that by hosting the image on the forum though instead of tinypic. Just upload it via the attachment icon, then the same way you would Copy the tinypic URL, you copy the image URL that it comes back with.

In particular, I was saying that posting one post which contains one image and hardly anything else, and then repeating that many times in a row (one image per post) makes reading the forum hard. Whereas attaching multiple images to a single post, then using the body of that post to reiterate or describe certain parts of the images would be preferred.

Many of our visitors do have some bandwidth restrictions or not the highest-speed internet connection and loading full-scale/full-sized images can really slow the pages down for them. The attachments are about 1/10th the size so load 10 times quicker, and the ones that someone wants to view can easily be clicked on.

Last, TRO had mentioned having to flip through the images. In fact, using the Lightbox feature of vBulletin you can have 10 attached images on a single post and just use the 'Next' button that pops up as an overlay on top of the images and cycle through them. This is in fact much quicker and easier than reading 10 different posts with 1 image per post.

I like things out in the open. That way people can see what happened and know the real reasons I get banned.

Ease of use is the main reason I hate the attachment feature.. I hate to have to click on a chart to see what the poster is talking about. THAT IS A WASTE OF MY TIME!

My eyes are 53 years old. Hard to read small charts. No one ever complains they can't read my charts.

I post on many forums. Easier for me to copy/paste than having to upload attachments on each forum.

I am not sure why I keep having to say you're welcome here, and why you keep having to say you get banned everywhere. I think we can say those things are understood.

Fact is this is YOUR FORUM. If you tire of me, you'll ban me. That simple. I know that. Let's be real. I know better.

Do you feel you have to protect the users on your forum from me? If not, then why did you say that?

You called me rude:

1 a : being in a rough or unfinished state : crude b : natural, raw <rude cotton> c : primitive, undeveloped <peasants use rude wooden plows — Jack Raymond> d : simple, elemental <landscape done in rude whites, blacks, deep browns — Richard Harris>
2 : lacking refinement or delicacy: a : ignorant, unlearned b : inelegant, uncouth c : offensive in manner or action : discourteous d : uncivilized, savage e : coarse, vulgar
3 : marked by or suggestive of lack of training or skill : inexperienced <rude workmanship>
4 : robust, sturdy <in rude health>
5 : occurring abruptly and disconcertingly <a rude awakening>

I do not think I am rude. I am blunt. I am curt. I am not a diplomat. I do not sugar coat what I have to say. I am respectful unless someone throws a punch, then I punch back harder until they are crushed.

In trading, you have to be quick. If my posting style offends someone, they do not have to read my posts. Why do people read my posts, if I am known to be rude and banned? THINK ABOUT IT!!

THIS IS TRADING. TRADING IS WAR. YOU ARE UP AGAINST EVERY OTHER TRADER IN THE WORLD. IF YOU CAN'T TAKE MY POSTS, HOW IN THE HECK CAN YOU EXPECT TO TRADE?

Quoting
Many users are benefiting from your posts, and it is my hope that many more will continue to do so. Some users have complained about you. I recognize their complaints and don't dismiss them. I also recognize the positive contributions you are making and don't dismiss that.

THEN LET ME POST HOW I POST. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT? I WANT TO SEE THEIR COMPLAINTS. POST THEIR COMPLAINTS. WHAT HEINOUS CRIME HAVE I COMMITTED THAT THEY HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT? MOST LIKELY A BUNCH OF NITPICKING ( I'LL REFRAIN FROM POSTING HOW I REALLY FEEL ABOUT IT.) REMEMBER, NO ONE IS FORCING THEM TO READ WHAT I POST.

Quoting
I am not asking you to do anything that I wouldn't ask someone else to do. So don't take it personally, and don't think every time I disagree with you that you are going to be banned.

Mike

Mike: I am not causing any harm to your forum. It looks like a few traders may benefit from my posts. If a forum admin doesn't like certain features to be used then DISABLE THEM. Do not berate me because I use LARGE FONTS, COLORS or TYPE IN CAPS.

As far as I can tell, I have NOT broken any written rules. Please do not make them up as you go along to tell me I am breaking rules. That happens to me all the time.

IF WE DISAGREE, THEN ARE YOU GOING TO LET ME CONTINUE TO POST OR WILL YOU BAN ME? JUST LET ME HAVE A THREAD OR TWO WHERE I CAN POST HOW I LIKE TO POST AND WE SHOULD GET ALONG JUST FINE. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE?

TRO,

What's your goal? What's your motivation?

I would assume the goal is to help people (and possibly yourself through the teaching process), and your motivation is the reward from doing so.

So you have to ask yourself, how can you best reach that goal? Surely the answer would not be to get banned everywhere you go, yet this seems to happen to you a lot by your own account. It is clear to me that you have a great deal of experience, a great deal of knowledge, and that you are willing to share. So why not take a step back, a deep breath and try to realize that just because someone disagrees with you they are not necessarily attacking you and calling for your head or for you to be banned.

I don't frequent other forums anymore, but in my head I envision the banning on other forums to be an event that continued to escalate over time, and I think that from what I've seen so far here that you are the one doing the escalating. I think your profile is high enough without drawing negative attention.

So let me reiterate that you are welcome. Users are benefiting. I hope you continue to post, I hope they continue to benefit. But I also hope the constant confrontation stops. I've not asked you to do/change anything about your posting that I would not ask any other member to do. You are not being targeted. You don't have to believe me, but it would help

I was planning to be off the computer 3 hours ago! So for real I am logging off!

Fao Big Mike.

Well since there appears to be an open discussion let me take the opportunity to put in my 0.02 $ or whatever, since I believe many people can profit from TRO's ideas and work; my spending my precious time on this is in fact another way for me to repay something in return for all of the insights I have learned and people I have met because of his work.

I have followed TRO's actions since Jan. of this year, primarily because of the KISS-no-BS approach to trading based on ones self-discovery so to speak. Since then (Jan 09) there have been a lot of people on various boards who have sought to fight with TRO.

As always this usually pertains to telling others what is- and what isn't good for oneself, in analogy to society in general where the Powers that Be sell their "services" "for your own good", where they themselves profit the most.

TRO's approach to trading is as simple as it gets. The fact that this makes most indicators obsolete is something of a revelation that not everyone likes, especially not those who earn money with creating those smokescreens.

TRO is not alone in his quest by the way; Mark Whistler is another one with a slightly different approach but with a similar underlying message.

I can fully imagine that TRO is very sensitive to be stepped on his toes once again; I suppose he sort of expects to receive the same treatment again; business as usual, been there, done that and all. I even see a pattern in his reaction asking for it more or less; personally I find that a tad fatalistic but then again what do I know, I'm not in his shoes.

I find TRO to be very clear in his communication although I'm sure it is not fully effective many a times. Buy hey- what the heck, his message in the form of posts on the sites where he is still allowed to post are very eye-opening and have been beneficiary for many people, including me. What's more, it is FREE information. So personally I don't care wether or not his capslock is stuck or if and how he answers to my questions, let alone others. If I don't like his way in general, I just will stop to read his stuff and in the mean time I will consider every bit of information.

As for others, they will have to judge for themselves. Others oftentime belong to the majority, who are always wrong. That includes their opinion about TRO. They will stick to the squiggly way of life, where the 95% of loosing traders are doomed. It is that group that is of interest to sites that have banned TRO; they are generating the traffic.

What I find to be pathetic is people asking for proof from TRO of his trading achievements, as if that's important. These people, (or should I say sheeple) usually are too lazy to go and find out for themselves if his methods are any good for them. There are enough examples of accounts that have been posted, although the thread where they were has been completely erased a month or so ago. People forget that they get information and tools handed on a platter for free, yet they have the indecency to ask for proof. Ironically, this is one of the reasons why these people fail and will continue to do so until their gimme-gimme-gimme mentality changes.

Without a doubt you will have your own ideas and considerations about this and other issues. Whatever they are, it's fine with me since this is your place and nobody else's. I'm sure though, that you're smart enough to judge for yourself wether or not TRO is an asset to this site, even though you may not agree with him all the time, regardless what others say about TRO and the way TRO communicates.

I trust this is of help
