The whole thing is stupid and I simply tune it all out. I tune almost everything out these days and give 0 you know what about it.
In public I'm cordial and say thank you or whatever. I don't even think about addressing someone I don't know by their gender.
Not because I'm avoiding it but simply because it's not necessary. Checking out at the grocery store a "Thank you" works great.
No need to say anything else. I don't like small talk with strangers (in public). It's meaningless and most of the time it annoys me.
Just give me whatever I purchased I thank you, you thank me, etc. and we move on. I'm very much a no bullshit type of guy.
If I say something that offends you then tell me and I will take note and respect your perspective. Everyone sees the world
with varying perspectives. That will never change. Saying mate, bud, man, dude etc. to friends or people I know then absolutely.
I use those words everyday. I'm not going to call someone bud when I don't even know them.

I'm forgiven, as the following is absolutely dark humor:

German government suspends development aid for Afghanistan - WELT

https://www.welt.de/politik/ausland/article233187029/Bundesregierung-setzt-Entwicklungshilfe-fuer-Afghanistan-aus.html

17 Aug 2021 ... In the period 2010-2012, even 2 million euros are said to have flowed to Afghanistan for "gender mainstreaming". Has only brought nothing, except ...

Two million euros so that those like them can learn gender mainstreaming like ..... :

What about this, from Nature?

Quoting
Furthermore, biology is not as straightforward as the proposal suggests. By some estimates, as many as one in 100 people have differences or disorders of sex development, such as hormonal conditions, genetic changes or anatomical ambiguities, some of which mean that their genitalia cannot clearly be classified as male or female. For most of the twentieth century, doctors would often surgically alter an infant’s ambiguous genitals to match whichever sex was easier, and expect the child to adapt. Frequently, they were wrong. A 2004 study tracked 14 genetically male children given female genitalia; 8 ended up identifying as male, and the surgical intervention caused them great distress (W. G. Reiner and J. P. Gearhart N. Engl. J. Med. 350, 333–341; 2004).

So the doctors didn't check if the babies were genetically male before surgery? Seems like they made the first mistake there.
