I forgot to mention that a glove of garlic a day

(1 glove of garlic a day cuts your risk of viral infections 53% - study in Journals of Immunology Research)

I personal think that it is best for this protection if you take it raw, perhaps in the evening. (You can use a garlic mincer and swallow it with water - i.e. on a spoon with a water chaser or if the taste bothers you with a bit of tomato sauce.)

Why raw?
I believe the cooking ruins the sulphir compounds active effect.

Also in the summer apparently garlic on your breath kill mosquitos up to (20?) feet.

You may be concerned about smelling of garlic. In my experience this usually is not a problem and if it happens after the 3rd day disappears - however health is first.

BTW I don't think tablets will provide the same benefit.

I should mention that those who take calcium tablets should not take them at the same time as other minerals and vitamins as the calcium blocks their absorption.

Best is a calcium magnesium blend 2:1. The tablets I take have a blend including the citrate forms which is apparently more easily absorbed.

When congestion comes, for years, I have put a saucepan of water on the stove to create steam. Put a towel over my head and breath in the vapors. You can add some essential oil(s), lavender or eucalyptus (in moderation). Most important is the steam.

You can also make a tent out of a tarp draped over your head and a chair or two with a small electric hot plate and saucepan of water if you want to stay in longer.

I've see individuals who will spend an hour in one of these tents to relieve congestion. Helps loosen the phlegm and cough it up.

Sugar causes damage to the body in many ways : Cardiovascular system, obesity, liver on and on. As mentioned in the first post the body is an interconnected set of systems. Sugar drinks, or high fructose/fractose added drinks etc definitely damage your body and hence your immune system.

Here is my list of ideas for strengthening your immune system (amounts where given are what I use).
  • 4,000 IU of Vitamin D
  • 3,000 mg of Vit C (6,000 when challenged - cold coming on etc)
  • 50-100 mg of zinc citrate
  • 100 mg selenium
  • a good mutivitamin (I used Swizz Mens' 50+ the 50+ give more at the same cost. The Swizz brand has fewer additives and no iron. I like this because iron buildup is a problem for men over 25 and post menopausal women - unless they donate blood. If you are hypotensive - low blood pressure donating blood can be dangerous and even trigger a heart attack)
  • getting lots of good quality sleep (especially when your body says you need it
  • fresh and and exercise
  • turning your shower/bath to cold at end (strengthens the lymphatic system)
  • using a rebounder (these are mini-trampolines) The bouncing energizes the lymph nodes

maintaining a positive, relaxed outlook. (stress, anger etc raises your cortisol levels. Prolonged high cortisol levels can lead to many severe illnesses including hypertension, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Prolonged high cortisol levels can lead to adrenal fatigue - reducing your immune system

Hi... I would like to ask you how you came up with those dosages and why you left out others mineral...

Life long study. Health is my passion. (One of them). Over the years if you have an interest, one learns more and more.

Vitamin D for example. Several years ago I watched a video my an MD who specializes in Vitamin D. He says take 5000 a day and you'll never catch a cold. (of course a lot more in the video)

Then following this several other articles speaking of the benefits of vitamin D for cancer prevention (breast cancer and others and when you see something for breast cancer a few years later you will see a study showing prostate cancer prevention.)

Recently the is a video on vitamin D and that which I am censored upon

As to others minerals yes of course. You will remember I posted _ and a good multivitamin mineral tablet. So the ones I posted are especially noted for immune system.

Also I think I mentioned that the body is an integrated system - you can't just pop one pill or do one thing. Really it would be a book to cover everything.

as you can see D3 is 800 IU that's why I said 4,000 not 5,000 -
so the extra D is in addition to the 800.

So D3 needs fat to be adsorbed well - say a dab of butter or some milk with fat.

but like I said it would take a book.

The biggest impact on my immune system as well as overall well being drastically improved after I did a 180 on my diet. Prior to covid I would eat out constantly and eat lots of junk food. Since Covid I have been forced to stay home and eat mostly home cooked meals and over the span of a month I could literally feel my body healing. IMO the foods you eat have the largest overall health benefits.
