Sierra charts probably shouldn't be posting anything TOO wild, that's really odd lol.
....The question is though: Would you let Bill Gates put a nano-bot or microchip in your body?
It would notify you if you have a virus with early detection. It would know your white blood cell count. It would know the iron content of your blood. I bet if you're extremely fearful you'll do whatever is asked of you, and that's the main problem. The extreme anxiety and illogical fear. People will gladly give up their freedom and rights if they think it will give them security, which isn't a conspiracy at all, it's a fact and we've seen it happen before.
The chip would have settings, which you could choose to encrypt your data so that only you have the key to access the data. But there would be a provision for pandemics (in the Terms of Service contract), where they can have a backdoor entry to each chip and be able to be alerted if Covid positive. Instant track and trace ability. That kind of power is already legal, under national security laws.
Covid is real yes, it's a predator. But if we follow some basic guidelines, we should be OK. Wear the mask. Distance ourselves...Don't allow fear to run your life. I think that's what people intend to say and they don't say it very well.

Yea, except the surgeons and nurses wear disposable masks that they toss out immediately and don't wear them every minute of their lives... I asked my OWN doctor about wearing a mask all the time like some people do and he confirmed that there are health risks to wearing a mask because you ARE decreasing your oxygen levels, breathing in your own co2 and your own bacteria if not washed.... I'm not going to live in fear, I have a right to breath fresh air and anyone who tells me I have to wear a mask all the time can go to hell!
The following user says Thank You to Mozart2112 for this post:
Wearing masks does not decrease the oxygen levels. Just like oxygen particles, CO2 particles are around 3 times smaller than virus particles that causes covid. CO2 and Oxygen are going to flow through any mask without any trouble. There is no known mask material that will filter molecules smaller than CO2 has. Even if there was, you wont be able to breath.
Lets face it, your doctor did not say that. You just don't like wearing a mask, its inconvenient to you. And the bad smell you experience when wearing a mask, it is your own breathe.
And nobody is asking you to wear same mask all the time. Dispose the old mask when you have used it. And wear mask in public places.

Folks, this is a topic that brings out strong opinions from many sides.
If you look over the history of this thread, you will see that matters became very intense just a page ago.
All members are reminded that:
1. Futures.io is a forum for discussion of trading and trading-related issues. It is not a forum for bringing in general controversies from outside the trading world.
2. Futures.io has a strong policy requiring civility and mutually respectful discussions. No matter what someone's opinions may be, nor how strongly they may be held, we cannot allow matters to become personal, disrespectful or rude. One of the things that long-term members value about futures.io is that it is a safe place separate from the personal conflicts and drama common on the internet, that disagreement does not become personal, and that people can disagree and remain cordial.
This policy will be enforced.
To repeat a comment I made a page ago, "This thread was begun because of a position taken on the SC website (which apparently has since been removed), and posts here should be directed to that topic alone."
I hope it will not be necessary for moderators to intervene again here.
The thread has probably run its natural course, but if there are any additional posts, I trust that they will be made with these considerations in mind. If not, the thread will be closed.
Thanks.
Bob.

I say so what? Sierrachart has always been opinionated and had a reputation for calling it the way they see it... so it really comes as no surprise. It's their forum and their platform; if a person doesn't like it, they can move on.
Their views are obviously polarized and controversial, as are the views of those on the opposite end of the spectrum. And as always in our society these days, the truth is somewhere in the middle. We're grownups and have the ability to formulate our own opinion, as well as the ability to decide whether we're gonna get bent out of shape about someone else's or not.
So long as the software continues to operate at a high level, I couldn't care less what their position is on these matters.

Just had a look at the offending post and this is on there:
"Update: We want to make it clear, when we use the term "hoax", it is not to say there is not some potential virus that is going around creating illness. It is the extremely disproportionate reaction to it that some governments have done over their citizenry and the claimed number of cases and the severity of the cases. It is these last two items, which is the hoax. In other words, the basis of their restrictions on the free market and people, are based upon alleged facts which is nothing more than a hoax."
I should add that statistics are completely unreliable. Every country has a different standard for recording deaths from Covid.
For example:
"fatality rates will fluctuate depending on how widely countries are testing for coronavirus, and who they are testing. If, for instance, as is the case in the UK, you test only the seriously sick people brought into hospital, then your mortality rate will skew high. Potentially hundreds of thousands of asymptomatic and mildly ill patients will go unrecorded.
Germany, on the other hand, has for several months tested thousands of people displaying only mild symptoms. Lothar Wieler, the president of the Robert Koch Institute, told journalists that German laboratories can conduct 160,000 coronavirus tests every week. The country’s low mortality rate is likely to be where much of the rest of the world will eventually end up. “The UK mortality rates now and in the near future will be artificially high compared to Germany,” says Head. “I think where Germany and South Korea have done well is to scale up their testing capacities to much higher rates than, for example, the UK.”
Either way, the simple fact is this. If you're under 40 and in good health then you'll be fine. If you're unlucky you'll get long covid. That's it really.
One thing you can say in all this is that we've shown any terrorist how to completely shut down the West because our reaction to a not very virulent disease has been huge.
BTW I supported the first lockdowns as I followed Nassim Taleb's fat tail risk ideas. But after we knew the severity of the infection then current lockdowns appear to be a ridiculous over reaction.
Opinions eh? Looks like Sierra Chart aren't the only ones to have them.
