There is always a more acceptable position between unacceptable extremes.

For example, we don't have to accept either all lack of restraint in the use of firearms vs. total government control. Simple things like background checks to keep guns out of the hands of some unsuitable owners is not a major imposition on gun owners, and will reduce the number of purchases by those who shouldn't have them.

I subscribe to that, but IMHO there is a serious problem as long as there is such a huge amount of illegal firearms available for nearly everyone who wants to buy a weapon apart from any legal restrictions....so there might almost always be a way to avoid any legal background checks.

I'm in favor of common sense gun regulations, just like most Americans. But as long as we are going to retain the "wild west" approach in this area, maybe we should relax a little when it comes to regulating things like retail forex, CFD's, online poker, etc. As it stands now, the best operators in these areas won't touch the US with a 10 foot pole.

If some 18 yo kid who plays COD 8 hours a day can legally obtain an arsenal that would make a small army blush, then maybe a 51 yo with an MBA can safely trade CFD's.

Texas to allow unlicensed carrying of handguns

Texas legislators have passed a bill which would allow most people to carry concealed handguns without a permit.

Current state rules require those carrying handguns to have a licence, training and background checks.

But Texas's Republican-run senate has voted to drop the restrictions, despite warnings from gun control groups that the measures could put lives at risk.

Supporters say the new measures would allow Texans to better defend themselves in public.

My wife runs an elementary school and each year there are, say, 3-5 special children that take up 80% of the entire staff's time and energy. Here in Murica, Texas is just such a special case. Love and patience will guide us through.

Coming, they can't be denied. Going, they can't be detained.

There is good chance Ohio will soon be the same as Texas. From what I understand lawmakers in Ohio were waiting on Texas to pass theirs.

I fully support these changes and believe there will be many more states to follow.

We have a worldwide audience here, I'm curious what the rest of the world thinks about the craziness and normality of mass shootings in America.

Sent from my phone

I think as soon as the same standards that apply to drunk driving are applied to gun control we will see the end of that silliness. Is anyone telling you you can't own a car because other dimwits have gotten on the road drunk and killed others?
Is anyone telling you that you can't trade because some other dude was so terrible he blew out his account and bank balances with it and YOU might do it too?
Do you REALLY want to live in a society where your personal freedoms are dictated by what you MIGHT do because someone else...one person in 330,000,000 did?
There was almost no problem with shootings before this wonderful shitty age we live in where respect for other people and their property are rapidly becoming a lost art and where not being made to take personal responsibility for ones own actions is increasingly the norm. We have a PEOPLE problem. Not a gun problem.

Why should it reignite anything? Texas is now the 21st state to allow Constitutional Carry. Every time the gun control whiners shout from the rooftops about the coming chaos, the blood running in the streets, blah blah, blah and...It.Never. Happens.
Carry has been allowed on public Texas college campuses for years now and despite all the angst and hand wringing from the left not a single professor has been shot or even threatened. No running gun battles through the Student Union or in the dorms have occurred.
Not only that but several of the safest states in the country are ConCar states and it can be shown (FBI stats are awesome.) that crime goes DOWN. Funny thing about criminals...they don't like being shot. They don't even like the idea of being shot and so they begin reconsidering their life choices.
