Big Oil was super cozy with the the Government during the Bush years. You can't have regulators be friends with those they regulate.
I am a strong believe that oil is too valuable to be just burned, there are so many things it can be made into and other sources of fuel/power that could eventually be made renewable with concerted effort.
Hope Obama can fix this, but with the strong idealogical differences in this country I am not sure it is possible. What ever happened to open mindedness? Truth matters: If all one wants is their model of the world verified, there will be no progress.
