Our family counts 4 cats.
This is the newest member, called Boris, +10 years old, he came from Israel to Belgium yesterday.
From 40° C to 20° he still has to adapt to the colder climate, as he was living in the Negev desert before.

Good for Boris, I have 2 cats myself. I remember reading that Israel had a controversial program of poisoning feral cats and kittens in big cities about a dozen years ago, I don't know if they still do that.

no cats are poisoned
but true, there are too much wild cats

i can tell you a few stories about people going to the vet with cats
pretending they found them in the street..

in general, people try to take care of the cats

in order to see if a cat is steralized or castrated, a top of the ear is cut
to avoit double catching...
