Science based information, from real doctors.. honest ones.

Note that I agree with Greger and disagree with Brownstein about the desirability of meat eating.

Both condemn sugar. Don't confuse low glycemic nutritional powerhouses like beans with junk starch like bread and pasta.

I think Brownstein is right about iodine and a lot of other things other than the need to avoid meat. However the Greger website gives a better, more actionable, overall picture re nutrition.

These days I plan my diet in advance and find myself eating a lot healthier, in that I'm conscious of what my diet is. Sometimes I found I got into eating badly because I was on auto-pilot not realising how the diet previously impacted me.

Hi,

I recently spoke with my friend who I cooked a vegan menu with macrobiotic influences.
She went into a trial study for her 4th stage cancer.
She has cancer in her liver, lymph glands and adrenal glands.

She has been keeping up, the best she can, on the foods that support her health: macrobiotic.
She found when she went off the diet, she didn't feel good and that inspired her to try and stay on it.
She hasn't been perfect but what she is doing, is supporting her health positively.

She has had ups and downs, while in the medical trial.
She woke up about 2-3 weeks ago with a rash from head to toe.
They told her, if the rash was 1/3 of her body, she could stay in the trial, so she went off of what they were giving her and in about 1 week the rash was gone. They lowered her dosage and was good to go.
Then they waited a bit, asked her what she was eating and sent her to a nutritionist to tell her all about the foods she was eating. They referred to it, as her secrets. I guess she is doing and responding well and want to find out what she is eating that is supporting her progress in the trial.

She learned last week, that the enzymes in her liver were too high, to continue on to the next phase of the treatment. When they checked her the next week, they were lower and she was on to the 2nd phase of the trial.
She was told, she would be home by Thanksgiving.

This is very good news.

They call him the Mango Man and I checked him out and like what he recommends: food combining, organic wholefoods etc. Some of you guys, might enjoy him and his recipes. He also shows you how to pick the best fruits etc.
He is aging well and is very fit.

I received an email from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)
a medical article published in Lancet today which states: Red and Processed Meats Cause Cancer

Red and processed meat products are linked to cancer, according to a report from the World Health Organization published today in Lancet Oncology. Researchers from around the world examined more than 800 studies looking at the cancer-causing properties of red and processed meats. The authors highlighted a meta-analysis that found a 17 percent increase in risk for colon cancer per 100 grams of red meat consumed and an 18 percent increase risk with 50 grams of processed meat consumed, and ultimately concluded that they are “probably carcinogenic to humans” and “carcinogenic to humans,” respectively. Researchers also observed associations between red and processed meat products and stomach, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. Processing and other cooking methods for meat, including curing, pan-frying, and smoking, produce various carcinogenic chemicals.

(The PCRM was started by Dr. Neal Barnard ( | The Physicians Committee) to educated MD's, nutritionists etc. on current medical research on the health promoting benefits of a plant based diet (vegan).

Medical Doctors, don't usually get a lot of nutrition education but after the research of Dr. T. Colin Campbell (who was on the board of setting the USA Food Pyramid at that time) did research (after the China Study came out) and found by eating 20% of your diet in meat, the cancer gene would be turned on. He then did research on eating less than 20% meat and the cancer gene would be turned off.

Dr. Campbell quote

"If you had a friend who had been a smoker all of his or her life and looked to you for advice, would you tell them to cut down to only two cigarettes a day or would you tell them to quit smoking all together? Moderation—even with the best intentions—sometimes makes it more difficult to succeed. Why should you try a totally plant-based diet? Because it can stop the development of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. The epidemic of chronic, degenerative diseases like these that are sweeping the world can be stopped and reversed with a plant-based diet. The solution lies in the choices we make about what we put on our plates."

It can take decades for medical research to get to the public but Dr. Greger posts current research up on his website or on Youtube for free.

I know, this information may fly against the belief system, that we need meat but protein is in all foods: beans, grains, veggies, fruits and nuts, in the correct amount our body needs.

The question is, do you think, you play a role in your health?

I remember I bought a book, that promoted a vegan diet and on the CD it came with, he showed a MD, who needed a triple bypass surgery. The MD, did his research and refused the surgery and went on a vegan diet and started walking. He reversed his heart disease and lived a healthy active lifestyle.

I also remember talking with a nurse, who worked in a chemo clinic. She told me, if she ever got cancer, she would refuse the chemo? She saw what it did to people, she would look for an alternate treatment.

Why wait till you are sick, to address the issue. The research is clear, let food be thy medicine.

We are all brother's and sisters and just sharing with you, like I would with a family member.

Dear Friends,

EPA has quietly proposed to raise the allowable levels of radioactivity in drinking water to hundreds of times their current limits following a nuclear emergency. The Safe Drinking Water Act establishes Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL’s) for specific radionuclides. But now EPA has proposed allowing people to drink water with concentrations of radioactivity at vastly higher levels with no actions taken by government to protect people.

Tell OMB to reject EPA proposal to increase allowable radioactivity in drinking water following nuclear emergency

EPA has proposed these new drinking water standards for its Protective Action Guides (PAGs). The PAGs would apply to any release for which a protective action might be required. Under the new proposal, no actions to protect the public would be taken even if radioactivity in drinking water were dozens or hundreds of times higher than Safe Drinking Water Act levels. This would force the public to use contaminated water containing dangerous levels of radioactivity far beyond the current standards. The drinking water PAGs would not be for the immediate phase of an emergency, but for the intermediate phase--after the release had stabilized--and lasting up to several years.

Look no further than the current water crisis in Flint, Michigan to understand concern that the EPA will not act to protect public health in an emergency. In this case, the EPA is attempting to ensure that it would not have to act decisively to protect public health!

There is no specific deadline for this action, however it is believed that OMB intends to act quickly on it, so please take action now, and please spread the word to your friends and colleagues.

They still haven't stopped the Fukushima power plant from spilling out nuclear waste, which is continuing to give us all low levels of consistent radiation. They are saying, there will be more thyroid cancers etc. One way to protect yourself, is take South River 3 year old Barley Miso. Use it instead of salt. Here is a link to it on how taking miso helped ward off the negative affects from when we dropped the Atomic bomb in Japan.

The way to use this, steam your veggies, take the water left over from steaming and add a heaping tsp or more, to the broth. Mix it up, while it is not on the stove, after a minute or so, pour over your veggies and rice etc. It will give a salty flavor to it and it has so many benefits. 3 year old miso is medicinal, more powerful than other miso's you get in the store. In macrobiotic's barley, helps shrink tumors. Beans: soy, constrict the blood vessels that goes to tumors. Miso fights off cancers and radiation.
