I wouldn't mind being tucked away in one of those little houses for a season trading, exploring the town, and sampling the local food and drink.

@Itchymoku , here is a place you can set up your trading station for a while. Schloss Lichtenstein, located in the beautiful Schwäbischen Alb.

Not really
They said it is once in 70 years like that...

Normally a sand storm comes typically from the Sahara
This time it was more coming from Saudi Arabia

It creates a very unhealthy atmosphere
In the middle east people died from it

You should refrain from any heavy efforts in this weather

Now all turned back to normal. It took +/- 5 days

Wow,
What a word !

This word actually makes sense and is linear.

timber-flooring-grinding-machine-renting-agency

As there are lots of old buildings around, many people have rent a grinding machine to refurbish the old wooden parquet in their appartments.

How would you put this word in English or French? Would it be easier?

Masters of Non-Communication

Priest and lawyers are those who have always tried to dissimulate the meaning of words. The use of the Latin language for the bible, and of course the continued use of Arab language for the Qur'an have the main purpose to hide the meaning of the words from the general public. Hence the priests keep the monopoly of the interpretation of the holy messages.

The same approach is used by lawyers. This explains that the most cumbersome words in German language have all been created by lawyers. Here are a few samples:

- Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung
- Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz
- Verkehrsinfrastrukturfinanzierungsgesellschaftsgesetz
- Vermögenszuordnungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung

If we do not accept those legal monsters of wickedness, there are also a few regular words available:

- Elektrizitätsversorgungsunternehmen
- Geschlechtschromosomenkonstellation
- Spartenbetriebsführungsgesellschaft

but as you see they cannot compete with the monster words created by lawyers. More interesting, there is even one word that has 25 different letters and does not repeat a single one!

- Heizölrückstoßabdämpfung

This is definitely my favourite!

In English you would put it into a sentence.

If that shop was yours, what would you put on the sign to tell your customers that you rent out grinding machines for timber floor?

I'm sure If you know a bit of German you could make out what the different components of the word mean despite the lack of spaces. It would probably be difficult to remember the correct order or how to join them. Reading is a lot easier than writing.

#Grinder - Your #1 Rental for Timber Floor Grinding Machines. Mention this sign and get 10% off your next rental.

So you would compare

"Rental for Floor Grinding Machines"

with

"Location de ponceuses à parquet"

and

"Fußbodenschleifmaschinenverleih"

This is quite funny....

French language is forward: The rental comes first, then the object of the rental which is the grinding machine, then the object of the grinding machine, which is the floor.

German language is backward: First comes the floor, which is the second object, then comes the grinding machine which is the first object, and the main thing comes in the very end. This is what confuses foreigners, unless they have been educated in Latin language and are used to structures like the "Accusativus cum Infinitivo" or "Ablativus Absolutus".

English is just a mixture of backward and forward. The "floor grinding machine" follows the German approach, the "Rental for " follows the French approach. In fact in German you could also use the English mix and write "Verleih für Fußbodenschleifmaschinen". However, using a single word is more impressive!

Not only more impressive, but more effective in terms of marketing as well!!

Otherwise, probably not much of a chance that his shop sign would spread over the internet...

BTW, thanks for the quick German lesson!! Learning Deutsch is one of my medium-term goals.

I was wondering if this was a real life apartment building. It looks photoshopped from a distance, but upon closer examination it has a great deal of individual, non-repeating detail.

Seems so peaceful like you could go and just forget about the stresses of life,

But I'm sure once you get there you'll be bombarded by the locals trying to sell you things :/

Where are you getting the pictures of the beach homes? I'm interested in that kinda stuff. Right now am using Houzz to tag ideas.

Just a bunch of obscure facebook pages like:

3dfirstaid visual architecture

Tintu-Mon

The Opulent Lifestyle

homes of the rich

Elegant Residences

A Lifestyle of Peace

They usually all have their corresponding website/magazines. But you can also go to their pages on facebook and scroll down on the left hand side and see what pages they like to find more pages. There's probably hundreds of these pages that people post albums of these types of pictures all day long.

Some of the beach homes are available listings and you can probably find more information about them if you reverse image search them.

But yeah, most of these facebook pages also have instagrams etc. like this one

https://instagram.com/elegantresidences_/

I just like the way facebook is setup, but I'm sure whatever social media platform you use has them. I just cherry pick my favorite ones and post them here.

LOL, honestly I didn't. I mean I know the name, but I didn't recognize her from your avatar. I did think she was quite attractive, which is why I reverse searched her. I was wondering how you could be so lucky to have her as your girlfriend, lol.

Funny because every time I've ever had a picture of a girl as my avatar I've had people hit on me thinking that I was a girl. LOL

One time I was curious why online dating was so difficult so I created an account with women pictures and it got like 100 messages in a day. I was kind of blown away. It was fun messing with guy's heads a little bit but then I started feeling weird about the whole thing and deleted the account.

You're a Wise man and probably why you're so successful. I tried to tell @TennisOrDie but he didn't wanna listen smh.

Maybe someday I'll find the woman of my dreams pip by pip, tick by tick. I heard they love day traders :sigh:

You will find her one day @Itchymoku.

HAHA @Big Mike, I am sorry but I chuckled at myself and said that was such a 'Big Mike' answer...

@Big Mike,

I think it's this one, but not sure. From our long-lost buddy TMFT. I remembered he did something awhile back - possibly in the "Lets make charts pretty" thread. Not sure. It's been years ago and I can't remember what I had for dinner Monday night!

After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!

I imagine you would proposal to a girl like this.
