If the US attacks Syria, what will be the result in the market?

Cast your vote and discuss.

Defense Contractors = Lockheed, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, etc.

What happens to the market if the US attacks Syria?

Total votes: 879

British leader loses vote on Syria response - CNN.com

Quoting
British Prime Minister David Cameron was dealt a blow Thursday in his push for a strong response, including possible military action, against Syria after the House of Commons voted down the measure.
The vote, 285-to-272, came just minutes after member of Parliament rejected a Labour Party motion calling for additional time for U.N. weapons inspectors to gather evidence over whether President Bashar al-Assad's forces used chemical weapons in suburban Damascus.

I'm curious about the sentiment going in to the weekend, its the end of the month too and a long weekend in the US. I don't think anyone is going to be too committed going into it, long or short. Even though its highly unlikely the US or her allies will do anything with UN support this time. The US has said it won't act unilaterally already. The UK will not be participating without a UN resolution, which will not be forthcoming given Russia and China's veto powers...

So I'm still guessing that there may be a neutral to long bias, but not a short bias...

Anyone?

You are right, but if this war kicks off, I will have to sell my truck and give my 3 cylinder Geo Metro a chance.

Well, I recently read the chapter in Taleb's book "Antifragility" where the character "Fat Tony" makes a killing by shorting oil when the (sadly first) Gulf War started. Will history repeat?

Also, I think it's worth mentioning my post the other day in the Time to Short Crude thread:

Some players benefit from higher prices; it is worth considering who the influential players are and which of them needs higher prices the most.

The rich powers that be are trying to pressure another war in the Middle East to keep the petrodollar going. Once oil is no longer
paid for in dollars and China and Russia don't need to depend on the dollar either, it's the end phase for the Fed , the banksters and gov't debt. Then hyperinflation and the NSA drones, fema camps already being put in place to quell the unrest will ensue. The presidents go along with it hoping at least it won't happen in their "term".

Look at that maniacal (to-be-our-president) witch's laugh starting 7:45 minutes in the video!
