Floss. No joke, I'm seeing the periodontist this week. To sum it up, dental health is a one way street. The best you can do is hold the line. If you smoke you are an idiot. (my biggest regret, glad I stopped) Avoid sugar and processed food.

I can't think of a thing I've worried about that was worth it.

Marry well. I'm in Macedonia (and been to a bunch of other places) as a result of falling for an adventurous woman.

I look at life like a magazine subscription. At some point they stop coming, but everyone gets 12 issues a year. Read each one well, and realize everyone including you gets 365 days at each age.

Go to a national park of your choice, e.g. The Grand Canyon, and ponder that your several decades of life is barely a fart in the breeze in the greater context. Still, it is your life, make the most of it.

Thanks for the free advice! I need to go buy some floss!

Yes, the hygienist told me ... that if one used floss "correctly" i.e. floss a bit under the gums of each tooth one would never have to worry about tooth decay as she thought buildup under the gums was the real reason for it.

They can patch caviites pretty easily these days. The problem is you loose bone around the tooth, which can proceed pretty silently for a while. That's the one way street I was talking about

Thanks for the free advice! I need to go buy some floss!

Happy to help. If you don't floss now, you have already benefited greatly from futures.io (formerly BMT)! (But I use those sticks, they are a lot more convenient.)

I just love this post!

The national park bit was inspired by going to "The Wave" in Arizona, just below Utah this spring. I was with family, the oldest being my seventy something father in law, the youngest was my 9 year old niece.

A picture of The Wave comes with Windows 7. Not sure which one I mean? Look at the download page of the BaBAR application and notice the background.

More fun than playing a Beatles record backwards. Aw geez, there I go dating myself again!

47 here.

And time is accelerating more and more...

Isn't there a way to slow it down?

Really related to Rui's post. I'm also to the age where time is accelerating.

I turned 49 in May.

24. The feeling of not being young anymore started to kick in. Luckily I don't seem to show it in my face. A lot of people mistake me to be 20.

You need to stop bacteria and other stuff by taking a toothpaste that desinfects and the same time does not harm you. You´ll recover very soon. Maybe choose a HF-Toothbrush, if you like it personally.

I've been getting a lot of grey hair lately. Might have to look into one of those coloring kits!

Mike

I'm 24 and the girlfriend says I have grey hair already, must be the stress. Can't decide if that's caused by her or this trading malarkey.

I'm about to turn 55, and in the process of turning over a whole new leaf.

I had a really awful time in my 40's with health problems and the stress of young children, a new business, and the seemingly endless process of getting ready to pour concrete on the house. I thought that when I got to be 50 things would really start to head down hill.

But life is funny sometimes. Lehman happened, and then I turned 50, my business almost dried up and blew away, and meanwhile I had just committed to a jumbo loan on the house. Which I spent most of my 50th year building. Hurt my back while we were getting into the house, and there was lots of stress, etc. Marital stress, kids stress.

Anyway, somehow things started to turn around, and by the time I got to be 52, I started making some radical changes, including starting to take care of my health, exercising, losing weight, etc. And at that point a lot of wonderful stuff started to happen, my health problems disappeared, along with the anxiety over health, and I began to get really optimistic and energetic and ambitious and...ready to start pursuing dreams again.

Here I am, all geared up and working toward a new career in trading, at age 55. Surprised as all hell that things seemed to have turned around, because I thought I was a goner when I was 49...
