If your avatar is a dog, post in this thread
I've seen some cute/funny avatar pics over the years, and anyone that has been on the forum for any length of time knows that since day 1 I've always featured a picture of a Labrador as my avatar (kind of a running theme).
So why not have a thread?
Mike

Meet Pepper, our little 4-year-old cyclone....a bit barky and hates little kids that charge at her, but other than that, a great dog who chews her toys and not the family room couch.

Tyler turns 9 this year, black lab.
Molly turns 6 this year, yellow lab.
Dexter just turned 1, chocolate lab.
Various pics:
I got all of them at approximately 6 months old from DFW Lab Rescue, of which I am a proud supporter and my mom is an active foster:

My advatar isn't actually my old dog but one similar i found online. My photos were old style and scanning a decent quality one wasnt easy so i used that.
She has been gone for 7 years now but I still miss her, an amazing companion especially through my formative years.

Ive had Dobermans over the years, My daughter had saw pictures of them growing up. One day she asked could she have one if she promised to take care of it. So 3 years ago for Christmas Lexi became part of the family. Anywhere my daughter is on my place Lexi is standing watch, same applies for me day or night shes by our side.
@Big Mike years back I read that people pick pets have the same characteristics as they have. If you pay close attention next time your out you'll see this holds true
Also....Cosmopolitan wrote a article ranking which men make the best lovers by which dog they owed. Labs where #1 so the said article wrote, I personally challenge that statement!!!!! Dobermens were in the top 3

German, and we think they probably have more than just shepard and lab, that is just what the shelter had labeled them as from their best guess basically. Been interested in doing one of those dna tests for a while now but never got around to it.
He didn't want me to read.

I've posted about our new pup in another thread, but it's time to introduce her here. This is Shadow. We got her this week from a shelter for abandoned/abused dogs.
Believe it or not, they say she is a cross between a dachshund and a boerboel. Yes, you read that right. It is apparently fairly common for small male dogs to have their way with much larger dogs when they're lying down and couldn't be bothered to stop the little one.
So we're interested to see what she grows up to look like.
Shadow showing that she's going to have one hell of a strong bite force. We'll likely take her to puppy school to ensure she is well trained. (Boerboel's have one of the strongest bite forces)

Very adorable pup. I don't understand how someone can abandon/abuse an animal like that.

Josie, AKA Hose Head. Very intelligent, learns very quickly, and will then look you in the eye and say, you expect me to apply this. No fish allowed in the boat without her approval. As a pup she wanted to retrieve whatever you were casting. She really likes the ladies. Take her for a run in the morning to give myself a chance to air out my head from trading and both of us to get some exercise, a guaranteed way for a market to move.

@Big Mike , can you tell us about your current avatar? It's a cool pic, did you take it yourself underwater, is this at home in the pool, judging by the water, almost looks like a nice tropical location.
I've always kind of wondered what my two water rat springers look like when they jump in off the dock.

She loves the snow -- for a little while, then she wants to come back inside and curl up on the heated floor. Then she will want to go back out again...

I am a dog person, but yes. I have Jack, as in Jack in the Box because he loves boxes, since my ex wife found him at approximately 4 weeks old. He was next to a dumpster, no siblings or mom around.
He turns 10 in a couple months.

Skitzo was originally my son's dog but now is ours.
Strangely enough, he is not interested in rabbits.
But he does like turkeys...
...and deer.

Sorry for the movie not being in English, the story is about KLM (a Dutch airliner, merged with Air France)
They now have a dog that has been trained to quickly return the lost items to the owner
For people not speaking Dutch or French, the story is still clear through the images..
This is fabulous, great initiative... like ! like !

I posted this in July but glad to see the article still getting attention. Brings tears to my eyes even now, the fifth time or so I read it.
