I just started exploring, and watched some old videos of Jose Silva talking about his experience and how he came to discover certain things; all very interesting.
As consistently profitable traders.. "We get paid to wait, and we wait to get paid."
I did several 3 day workshops on the Silva method when I was in graduate school some 30 + years ago. Very powerful stuff which has had a powerful effect on my life since.
The Silva Method is the best I've seen for setting goals, but it can be much, much more than that. It isn't just a motivational technique. It is THE TOOL to unlock the powers of our mind to advance ourselves in whatever we choose.
I took the Silva Mind Control Method in 1983 in Fairbanks Alaska when Harry McNight was doing the seminars. He is the most dynamic person I have ever met, by far. He was a Benedictine Monk for 2 years and a Jesuit for 4 before leaving the Catholic order. He wanted to help people and the Church got in the way. So he went into psychology, got a masters degree, and was working on a PHD when he ran into the Siva Method. What he experience was so powerful, he quit the PHD program and became the #1 lecturer for Silva worldwide. What I experience during the seminar was really amazing, but unbelievably simple. The evening we got into distant healing blew me away!!!! The mind is capable of things we never dreamed of. Everyone has abilities that are beyond what we know. We hear of people who do amazing things, not knowing that we all have the same potential.
The Siva Method teaches us how to use the subconscious mind to do powerful things. You can learn how to set goals and become a better trader. You can learn how to set life goals and make them happen. I was a seminar junkie in the 80's. I have never seen anything better. Only one thing comes close: the book "Smart Talk" by Lou Tice. I also took the seminar by Lou Tice through his organization The Pacific Institute. Lou died last April. He will be sorely missed. Get his book.
These two methods are not specific to trading, but they have been around since the 60's breaking new ground with their motivational teachings that others have copied for 40 years. Taken together, they are the best tools for motivation and goal setting. I have seen webinars on trading psychology that try to rehash and sell these methods as their own. I've also read Mark Douglas, Brett Steenbarger, Alaxander Elder, Adrieene Toghraie, Jeff Quintos, John Carter and more. These are specific to trading, but nowhere near as dynamic as Jose Silva's and Lou Tice's methods. They were the first on the scene and are still the best. A guy I went to high school with, Dave Sabey, took the Lou Tice seminar. Dave and I were on the wrestling team and Lou was our coach back then. Dave became the wealthiest man in Seattle before Bill Gates developed Microsoft. He learned how to set goals and acheive them from Lou.
