Medical imaging radiation causes DNA damage and cancer; doctors prescribe more.

Category : Topic :
Health Hazards (298) Press Releases & Good Articles (177)

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

The health risks associated with radiation exposure, whether it comes from cancer treatments or medical imaging scans, are much more significant than most people probably think. The latest published data on radiation exposure suggests that roughly 25,000 Americans develop cancer every year as a result of medical radiation exposure, and many more experience DNA damage that could eventually lead to the development of cancer and other health problems in the long term.

Every year, millions of Americans opt to undergo computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and X-ray scans for medical purposes, thinking that by doing so, they are keeping up with the latest technologies in advanced medical care. But each time medical patients get one of these scans, their bodies sustain varying levels of ionizing radiation, the negative effects of which can take years to manifest as they build up cumulatively over time.

CT scans, which are a relatively modern medical imaging technology, are particularly problematic as they emit far higher doses of radiation than traditional x-rays do. Based on the figures, a single CT scan can blast up to 500 times the amount of radiation released by a single x-ray, an astounding level when considering how gratuitously CT scans are administered within the medical profession today.

In a new study recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), it is reported that the use of all medical imaging scans, including CT scans, has risen dramatically between 1996 and 2010. The use of CT scans in particular, more than tripled during this time, which is in large part responsible for doubling the proportion of patients now receiving what is considered to be "high" or "very high" radiation doses on a regular basis.

Overuse of CT scans causing significant uptick in cancer rates

Failing to recognize the long-term health consequences of repeated and perpetual exposure among their patients, many doctors needlessly order CT scans for patients who do not need them, or order multiple scans when only one is necessary. Data compiled from outpatient claims filed through Medicare, for instance, reveals that CT scans are routinely overused at hundreds of hospitals across the country, and that patients are needlessly "double scanned" more than 80 percent of the time. (https://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/18/health/18radiation.html)

The high cost of CT scanning equipment has also led to an epidemic of unnecessary CT scans at private practices as well. Because they know that, most of the time, insurance companies and government health programs will reimburse them, many doctors simply default to CT scans whenever there is even a remote possibility that they might be useful -- and oftentimes these doctors double-up on scans as well, even though this is almost never medically necessary.

"Double scans expose patients to extra radiation while heaping millions of dollars in extra costs on an already overburdened Medicare program," wrote Walt Bogdanich and Jo Craven McGinty in the NYT, concerning CT scan abuse within government healthcare.

Besides the added costs to the medical system, medical imaging overuse is destroying the physical health of many Americans. According to data compiled by Jane Brody over at the New York Times (NYT), radiation exposure from medical scans now accounts for 1.5 percent of all cancers that occur in the U.S. Based on figures released by the American Cancer Society (ACS), this translates to about 24,583 Americans that develop cancer every year as a result of Western medicine. (https://www.cancer.org/Research/CancerFactsFigures/ACSPC-031941)

"All imaging has increased, but CTs account for the bulk of it," said Dr. Rebecca Smith-Bindman, a specialist in radiology and biomedical imaging at the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF) to the NYT. "There's clearly widespread overuse. More than 10 percent of patients each year are receiving very high radiation exposures."

Some doctors refusing to provide care unless patients submit to imaging scans

Despite their known dangers, CT and other risky imaging scans are often pushed on patients by doctors who refuse to provide care unless patients submit to their orders. Presumably to protect themselves against litigation, many doctors will insist that their patients undergo multiple imaging scans in order to confirm a medical condition, even when doing so puts patient safety at risk.

Fortunately, many health insurers are now taking notice of this rampant abuse, and are putting policy measures in place to discourage it. These include requiring preauthorizations before patients can receive scans, for instance, or restricting who can administer the scans, and on what types of equipment.

From . (https://www.cancer.org/Research/CancerFactsFigures/ACSPC-031941)

Risk factors: The risk of colorectal cancer increases with age; 91% of cases are diagnosed in individuals 50 years of age and older. Modifiable factors associated with increased risk include obesity, physical inactivity, a diet high in red or processed meat, alcohol consumption, long-term smoking, and possibly very low intake of fruits and vegetables.
...
Studies have also found that individuals with type 2 diabetes are at higher risk of colorectal cancer. Consumption of milk and calcium and higher blood levels of vitamin D appear to decrease colorectal cancer risk. Studies suggest that regular use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin, and menopausal hormone therapy also reduce risk.

It is estimated that more than 88 million nonsmoking Americans 3 years of age and older were exposed to SHS in 2007-2008.
SHS contains more than 7,000 chemicals, at least 69 of which cause cancer.
• Each year, about 3,400 nonsmoking adults die of lung cancer as a result of breathing SHS.
• SHS causes an estimated 46,000 deaths from heart disease in people who are not current smokers.

Adopt a physically active lifestyle.

My thoughts:

Generally eating more vegetables and fruits are a good idea.
If you find it hard to remember to eat fresh vegetables then you can buy a vegetable juice like V8 - not as good as fresh but something.

Eat organic if you can afford it.
Long term ingestion of poisions applied to foods is not good for you.
There are a few heavily poisoned foods why the poison is hard to remove (strawberries, lettuce, ...)

Have a cleansing drink each evening before retiring to bed
My formula is to combine in a blender:
one red grapefruit
herbal tea to cover (*)
1 tbs of psyllium husks
Blend and drink before it thickens.

(*) - you can substitute a fruit juice of your choice, and it doesn't have to be red grapefruit - I use that because of the lycopen. An apple is another good choice and helps reduce high blood pressure. The key is the tablespoon of psyllium husks.

Try to avoid angry thoughts or feelings of ill-will towards others.
Before bed I say my prayers and bless those I know - loved ones (or not). You can also send healing light to those you know who are sick.
"Let not the sun go down on your wrath"
"Peace be still and know that I am God."
"Forgive me my tresspasses as I forgive others."
"Love one another as I have loved you."
"Judge not."
--are phrases that come to mind.
Constant arguing, fighting and certainly hatred, are ways to increase your odds of cancer and illness. Stress in your body raises cortisol levels which contribute to cancer. (Plus they are not so good for your spiritual health either!)

Food
* Don't eat when you are upset.
* Divide your food into 6 small snacks. Don't have big meals. Avoid combining too many food groups in your stomach at the same time.
* Start your day with something easy to digest e.g. a banana. then 30 minutes later have a protein intake - this is slow digesting and helps you maintain a steady blood suger level throughout the day.
* Don't eat anything heavy within 3 hrs of bed.
* Drink lots of water (e.g 3 quarts a day (24hr day) and 4+ if exercising hard.). EASE into this. The body does not like too rapid change.
* Don't eat processed foods. Many contain harmful additives. Adding transfats to packaged "food" is common place as is soy letchin, preserving chemicals, bleaches, sodium lauryl sulphate, etc. Shop around the outside of the grocery store fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy, eggs, lean meat -not processed meats (for non vegetarians).
* Don't drink carbonated drinks.
* Don't buy food/drinks with high fructose added.
* Coffee - 1 or 2 cups a day (organic shade-grown) for anti-oxidations, or green/white tea can be positive. Let your body tell you. If you get digestive upset or heart palipatations from it don't drink it.
You can have cocoa instead of coffee, or a small one swuare of dark chocolate each day.
* Alcohol one drink a day (e.g a glass of red wine) unless your religious or health beliefs are against it or if you are pre-disposed to alcoholism.
* Healthy oils: 1-2tbs of extra virgin olive oil, and 1-2tbs of walnut or flax seed oil (omega3) each day. Refridgerate after opening. Only by non-hydrogenated nut butters (e.g. Peanut butter). Your body can't handle hydrogenated oils. Don't you the cheap store bought grain oils - corn, canolas etc as they use hexane in the manufacturing process.
* Variety of nuts and seeds- fresh are better. (avoid walnut pieces as sometimes there is a peice of shell which can crack your tooth or a filling when you bit on it.)

Get plenty of restAim for 8.5 hours plus - your body will tell you the correct amount but generally North Americans don't get enough sleep (suffer from chronic "sleep deprivation"). Have a regular routine at bedtime that cues your body that it is time to sleep (eg. make your evening shake, listen to quiet relaxing music, read something positive/spiritual, etc.) same thing, same time each night.
Take you mulitvitamin in the morning.

Reduce chorline absorption There are filters you can buy to reduce the chorline in your shower/bath water ($30 last 6-8 months). It takes our lead and other nasties as well. Your skin absorbs a lot - perhaps even more than the chlorine in your drinking water.
For drinking water - let the tap in the tub run for 3 mins until cold to clear the lead in the water from the pipes - if your building is older than 20?yrs. Fill some jugs. Let it stand overnight. (I also boil mine). Filter with a pour through filter.

Avoid plastics and aluminum.
Especially the plastics that are hard and clear like glass and those with BPA. PVC plastic is a carcinogene.
Aluminum - alzhemers
In one book I have read the nickle in stainless steel is link to prostate cancer. I don't use stainless steel cookware or drinking/food containers.

Avoid using household chemicals and posions

For your bath/shower etc use little soap (borax in water sparingly) or a soap bar from the health food store (or Sunlight). Most shampoos contain harmful chemicals. North Americans use too much soap and they dry out the natural oils in their skin and scalp.

Get exercise and fresh air each day.
A brisk 20min walk with a smile on your face and a cheerful friendly hello for your neighbour is great. A nice walk after supper instead of slouched in front of the bad-vibe TV is good.

Control you mental diet
Try a 30day holiday from the TV and newpapers.
I haven't watched the TV in years. I don't read the newspaper (except the business section of comic if I'm in a coffee shop). Don't read too much internet "news", certainly don't focus on the horrible crimes. Read some books. You control the content and the time and place. Too much staring at tiny electronic screens isn't great either.

Meditaion or quiet reflection
This is one I need to make time for - but from those I know who do it - it has wonderful benefits

Final noteMy feeling is that many links to cancer and other diseases will take a long time for conventional western medicine to "prove". Just as it took over 50 years of lobbying against the tobacco companies sponsoring a debate, so it is with big pharma and disease doctors who are making so much money from illness.
The individual needs to learn how to keep himself healthy - your death and disease specialists - (aka doctors and govt agencies) don't know about food and health. It is not in there interest to do so. Drug companies don't fund reseach on products they can't from from - such as an apple. Learn about the healing power of herbs.

Remember to ease into changes.

For example if you're only use to drinking a couple of glasses of water a day slowly move up to the target amount. Listen to your body.

If your on a reducing diet to lose fat and for 2 pounds a week as a target maximum. (If you're really obese you might lose it faster at the bigging, fine. Just don't try to lose more than 2 pounds a week. Otherwise your body will theink there is a famine out there and switch to starvation mode. It will try adn keep the fat and burn muscle. You don't wnat this as each pound of lean muscle burns 10 calories a day exercising or not. Try to make time exercise on a reducing diet. It reves up the metabolism and helps you keep muscle. Drinks lots of water.

Avoid yo-yo dieting. Go at it slow and make it permanent. Simply design a good permanent eating plan and slowly replace the worse meals with good ones.

Body for life has a good program for a quick start 12 week cycle to losing fat. You can win money too (if you buy one of their products just once during your 12 weeks). Its similar to the bodybuilders 12week cut before a contest.

Its similar to the bodybuilders 12week cut before a contest.

I did this and had great results. I would suggest that you read the book - at most libraires focusing on Chapter 2 Crossing the Abyss . This is where you set in writing your reasons for change - important to help you stay with the program.

Remember - don't binge diet.

Good luck!

The New Junk Food Danger | Yahoo! Health

Excerpt:

'Not only does junk food make you fat, but it could cause dementia. New research shows that our calorie-laden diet boosts risk for dementia, a memory-robbing disorder some experts now call “type 3 diabetes.”

“Americans are literally eating a ‘diabetes diet’ that’s very toxic to the brain and other vital organs,” says Dr. Joel Zonszein, medical director of the diabetes clinic at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. “And the one of the most terrible complications—brain damage—is occurring in younger and younger patients.'

------
“We’re now seeing diabetic patients as young as 50 with significant brain damage—and the new research is telling us that people with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome are at much higher risk for dementia than was previously believed,” notes Dr. Zonszein.

My brother, Doug who lives in the Montreal area, has advanced lung cancer and the prognosis given by his doctors is but a few weeks.

Once he had his first chemo treatment the cancer spread like wildfire.
I have recently learnt that the chemo feeds the cancer.

I mentioned my brother's cancer to a neighbour who lives in my building. She told of her best friend Natalie who had stage 4 breast cancer. The doctors had done burn, poision and cut on her (radiation, chemo and surgery).

She submitted herself to the full monty of surgery, chemo (double dose), radiation and this essentually brought her to deaths door. She says you can feel the life leaving you as the chemo goes in. After finishing this brutal assault on her body they told her they had not got it all and she should get her affairs in order.

By chance, Natalie had started to drink 3 litres of distilled water a day during chemo and taking bicarbonate of soda, as well as changing her diet to raw. This may be what saved her life from the treatment.

Jeremy (now her husband) continued to assist Natalie through detoxifying and alkalizing her body and giving her plenty of pure water 3-4 liters a day. She is alive and well 4 years later, (despite the doctors terminal illness prognosis). Last year she had to have a scan for insurance claim and they confirmed what Jeremy and Natalie knew - that she was completely cancer free.

Though may likely too late for my brother, I make this post in case it may be of help to someone out there who has a loved one or friend with cancer and is looking for a better prognosis. (I have no knowledge other than what I have shared above about Natalie as shared with me by my neighbour which I believe to be the truth about Natalie.)

There is a free 25 PDF available on his website entitled what I would do if I had cancer.

I hope it helps.

Important and please note:
By legal definition, only doctors can "cure". Those not licensed by the medical board cannot cure. This was very strongly stessed my Jeremy he makes no claim of curing. Please ensure you the disclaimer at the website as well.

(NaturalNews) Have you ever wondered what's really in vaccines? According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control's vaccine additives page, all the following ingredients are routinely used as vaccine additives:

Aluminum
Antibiotics
Formaldehyde
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
Thimerosal

What's really in vaccines? Proof of MSG, formaldehyde, aluminum and mercury

Please read the side effects in terms of what these chemicals can do to the human body. Then, try to contemplate the absolutely, non-existent level of care for basic human health in this country by both the FDA, and Big Pharma.

Thank-you for your post Victory!

What you say is very true. I read an article about Big Pig Pharma and Banks and debt and the ugly alliance that porfits off creating disease.

The thimerosal you mention is a mercury preservative they add. Imagine taking one of the most toxic chemicals know and injecting people with it for a flu shot! The amount the use is hundreds of times beyond EPA limits. The amount of mercury they inject in a hepatis B shot given to new born babies is so high you would need to be a 275lb man to absorb it. The alarming rate of autisim is linked to thimerosal.

I am a pharmacist,total bs.

They have used Thimersol in the past and may still do for a few vaccines....alot have been removed.
They have found NO link between thimersol and autism.....yet.
Aluminum has been postulated to possbly causing ALzeheimers, but your soda can might have more AL in the contents!
Formaldehyde is/was used as preservative for animal/plant cadavers or tissues and still is.

No bloody antibiotics in vaccines. Sulfa is the only one I can think of,that is used a lot as a good persavative, but its a small amount.

They do use agents to retent potency and extend expiration date. Doses are low.

MSG is mostly in food preservation(esp Chinese etc,but they have cut back too).
I have the 'Bible' on injectable drugs and have been using it for 20+ years, don't tell me all that information is hogwash or whitewashed to push vaccines.

Like to see how many people would still be around or not disable without vaccines????

The good they do outweight the bad by a long way....statistics dont lie.

A Greek island known for uncommonly long life spans.

Quoting
(NEWSER) – Stricken with cancer and given six months to live, a Greek man living in America moved back to his native island of Ikaria—where the cancer mysteriously disappeared. The tale has become folklore on the Greek island, where stories of good health date back 25 centuries.

I had one last question for him. How does he think he recovered from lung cancer?

“It just went away,” he said. “I actually went back to America about 25 years after moving here to see if the doctors could explain it to me.”

I had heard this part of the story before. It had become a piece of the folklore of Ikaria, proof of its exceptional way of life. Still, I asked him, “What happened?”

“My doctors were all dead.”

To say that is is total BS is to call me a liar.

No actually you are brainwashed and what you are spouting is "total BS".

To say that Mercury is safe -one of the most toxic chemical known to man - shows your ignorance and sell-out to big Pharma. Mercury is a known neortoxin.

It is and was totally needless to add it as a presevative to vaccinations. There are many other choices. As evidenced by your own admission that they have taken it out of many vaccines from public pressure.
It is still in the flu shots.

Lies to sell drugs are part and parcel of your lucrative trade.

You know nothing of health and have never studied nutrition.

For 50 years the medical community suppressd the link between smoking and lung cancer.
They paid off doctor to publish quack medicine studies.
They said "there is no proof".
They lie through their teeth.

When sued for billions for lung cancer it came to light that executives of the major tobacco companies knew of the connection told each other in company memos.

Just imagine doctors dong a study that "proved" the linkage between injecting known poisions into people and causing diseases and ailments such as autisim. Who is going to do the study that shows them guilty of crimes worth billions of dollars of damage?

Where is the ethics of injecting known toxins into people for the study?
Who is going to be the control group and who will be injected with mercury?
Will it be the babies of doctors and pharmacists?
Don't make me laugh.!!

No matter how strong the statistical linkage they will argue it isn't "proof".

Doctors and pharmacists support a world-wide trade in sickness and disease promotion.

I've only been twice to the doctor in 25 years both times for antibiotics.
Once for the prevention of lyme disease after a tick bite and once for an inner ear infection.
For the inner ear infection the MD wanted to give me a CT scan for brain tumors!!![I replied "let's try the anitbiotics first."
- sound reasonable, sound like something the MD should have said?

If I had said "I have an earache - it may be brain cancer - I want a CT scan " -- the MD would have said
""Let's try the anitbiotics first. before moving to something as serious as a CT scan."

Just imagine telling someone you might have a brain tumor based on an earache !!!!!!!!
(see the previous post about needless CT scans causing cancer).

They hate healthy people like me.

They HATE informed public catching them in their lies.

Pharmacists know very well just how toxic mercury is.
Pharmacists also know very well that formaldehyde is a carcinogen.

Even though they know the dangers of these products - they will say "That is total BS."
Ask yourself
- what is the motivation of some who knows it is a carcinogen lying and saying it is fine?Could it be to spread uncertainty and doubt (both tools of Satan by the way).

This just goes to show how the pervayers of death, disease and drugs - will do to protect their money machine.

Just remember the next time a pharmacist or doctor puffs up and says:
"I'm a pharmacist - and there is no proof"
"I'm a doctor - and there is no proof"

Ok here is your "proof"

" On 10 June 2011, the US National Toxicology Program described formaldehyde as "known to be a human carcinogen".[5][6][7]
Formaldehyde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Canada the warning insert in cigarrette package lists formaldehyde as one of the carcinogens in cigarrettes.

Neurotoxin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurotoxin

Blood brain barrier
Aluminum

Neurotoxic behavior of aluminum is known to occur upon entry into the circulatory system, where it can migrate to the brain and inhibit some of the crucial functions of the blood brain barrier (BBB).[40] A loss of function in the BBB can produce significant damage to the neurons in the CNS, as the barrier protecting the brain from other toxins found in the blood will no longer be capable of such action. Though the metal is known to be neurotoxic, effects are usually restricted to patients incapable of removing excess ions from the blood, such as those experiencing renal failure.[67] Patients experiencing aluminum toxicity can exhibit symptoms such as impaired learning and reduced motor coordination.[68] Additionally, systemic aluminum levels are known to increase with age, and have been shown to correlate with Alzheimer’s Disease, implicating it as a neurotoxic causative compound of the disease.[69]

Mercury

Mercury is capable of inducing CNS damage by migrating into the brain by crossing the BBB.[41] Mercury exists in a number of different compounds, though methylmercury (MeHg) is the only significantly neurotoxic form.[41] MeHg is usually acquired through consumption of seafood, as it tends to concentrate in organisms high on the food chain.[70] It is known that the mercuric ion inhibits amino acid (AA) and glutamate (Glu) transport, potentially leading to excitotoxic effects.[71]

Health Hazards (306) Mercury - A Deadly Poison (12)

By Dr. Mercola

Mercury has no place in anyone's body, let alone a child's.

As you're probably aware, mercury is a neurotoxin, exposure to which is linked to brain and nervous system damage, kidney damage, autoimmune and other health effects.

Children, including those still developing in the womb, are most at risk because of their small size, their more permeable blood-brain barriers and the fact that they're detoxification systems are not yet capable of effectively removing toxic challenges.

Now new research is highlighting the very real risks that occur when this toxic metal is ingested.

Mercury From Seafood Linked to ADHD

Inuit children in northern Quebec, Canada, eat a diet rich in beluga whale meat, which is typically contaminated with high levels of mercury. After analyzing umbilical cord blood from nearly 300 children, and years later getting detailed information about their behavior, researchers found those with the highest concentrations of mercury had more trouble paying attention – and were three times as likely to display symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – than those with lower levels.1

Those with low to moderate lead levels were also more than four times as likely to have hyperactivity problems than kids with lower levels (Inuit children are exposed to lead from eating shot pellets in geese and ducks).

Separate research has also revealed that babies exposed in the womb to higher levels of mercury, due to their mom's fish-rich diet, scored lower on skills tests when they became infants and toddlers.2 So it's quite clear that this toxin has a serious impact on your brain function...

Where are the Warnings About Mercury Dental Fillings?

If the presence of mercury in seafood and skin cream is tied to concerning study results and warrants urgent warnings from the FDA and other groups, why does the agency refuse to address concerns about placing 1-2 grams of dental amalgam, half of which is mercury, into the mouths of children and pregnant women?

The FDA admits that amalgam could be dangerous for children and that there is no evidence that it is safe for them. Buried deep in the FDA's 2009 amalgam rule, FDA concedes "The developing neurological systems in fetuses and young children may be more sensitive to the neurotoxic effects of mercury vapor. Very limited to no clinical information is available regarding long-term health outcomes in pregnant women and their developing fetuses, and children under the age of six, including infants who are breastfed."3

Nonetheless, in 2006, 2009 and 2010, the FDA ignored its expert panelists' recommendations that mercury fillings should not be used in children and pregnant women. They actually ruled there would be no warnings to patients, not even young women and parents of young children, that the mercury in the fillings is a dangerous reproductive toxin and a neurotoxin.

They even gave the amalgam industry the green light to sell and use amalgam (mercury) fillings without disclosing to consumers that the fillings are mainly mercury, even though the agency is aware of the industry's long-time deceptive practice of marketing amalgam as "silver fillings."

In 2011, the FDA then reneged on its promise to re-examine the mercury amalgam issue and make an updated announcement by year's end; no announcement was made, and there are no plans for an announcement in the future. The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for a switch away from amalgam in its mercury report,4 but the FDA is still failing to act -- even though dental amalgam is far from an essential dental product; it's interchangeable with many other filling materials that do not have the toxic profile amalgam has.

There is overwhelming evidence showing mercury from dental fillings to be easily released in the form of vapor each time you eat, drink, brush your teeth or otherwise stimulate your teeth.

This mercury vapor readily pass through cell membranes, across your blood-brain barrier, and into your central nervous system, where can cause psychological, neurological, and immunological problems. In the United States, children and pregnant women continue to have their health and the health of future generations put at risk because the FDA is failing to protect them.

The WHO report also included mention of the known toxic effects of mercury exposure, including in its inhaled vapor form, stating:

"Mercury is highly toxic and harmful to health. Approximately 80% of inhaled mercury vapor is absorbed in the blood through the lungs, causing damages to lungs, kidneys and the nervous, digestive, respiratory and immune systems. Health effects from excessive mercury exposure include tremors, impaired vision and hearing, paralysis, insomnia, emotional instability, developmental deficits during fetal development, and attention deficit and developmental delays during childhood."

Why are Mercury Fillings Still on the Market?

Amalgam fillings contain more mercury than any other product sold in the United States. And they are highly profitable to dentists, which makes them that much harder to remove from the marketplace. Dentists who are inexperienced with mercury-free fillings can install amalgam fillings much faster than the primary alternative, which is composite fillings. Wherever healthcare budgets are tight, people in need of fillings are given amalgams. Low-income people, people in third-world countries, and even our soldiers get mercury fillings—even the pregnant ones—because they "cost less" to install.

But with all that is known about the dangers of mercury, why are we still implanting this neurotoxin just inches from our brains? Why haven't mercury fillings been removed from the market altogether? This is a very good question, and one that has NOT been answered by the FDA, according to Charlie Brown, executive director of Consumers for Dental Choice. Charlie Brown has been a champion in the battle to get mercury banned from dentistry.

Important Information Regarding Amalgam Removal

For those of you who have mercury fillings, I recommend that you have them removed … but avoid making the mistake I did nearly 20 years ago by having it done by a non-biological dentist. When you have these fillings removed you can be exposed to significant amounts of mercury vapor if the dentist doesn't know what he or she is doing. It's also for this reason that I strongly suggest you get healthy BEFORE having your fillings removed, as you want your detoxification mechanisms optimized prior to removal.

My struggles with my own teeth led me to learn about and embrace biological dentistry, also known as holistic or environmental dentistry.

In a nutshell, biological dentistry views your teeth and gums as an integrated part of your entire body, and any medical treatments performed takes this fact into account. The primary aim of holistic dentistry is to resolve your dental problems while working in harmony with the rest of your body. Biological dentists are well aware of the dangers involved with toxic materials such as mercury fillings (aka amalgams). Some things that need to be done to keep you (and your dentist) safe during amalgam removal include:

Providing you with an alternative air source and instructing you not to breathe through your mouth
Using a cold-water spray to minimize mercury vapor
Putting a rubber dam in your mouth so you don't swallow or inhale any toxins
Using a high-volume evacuator near the tooth at all times to evacuate the mercury vapor
Washing your mouth out immediately after the fillings have been removed (the dentist should also change gloves after the removal)
Immediately cleaning your protective wear and face once the fillings are removed
Using room air purifiers

How to Find a Qualified Biological Dentist

If you're taking the steps to protect your children from mercury exposure by limiting their consumption of contaminated seafood, you certainly would not want to have mercury fillings implanted directly into their mouths. Knowledgeable biological dentists, who will be familiar with using the many alternatives to amalgam, can be hard to come by, so start your search by asking a friend, relative, neighbor, or inquire at your local health food store. The following links can also help you to find a mercury-free, biological dentist:

Europe-wide ban on Monsanto GM corn imminent in wake of French study linking it to cancer

GMO Hazards & Solution (24) Press Releases & Good Articles (194)

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

Pending affirmation by its national health agency, France is expected to call for an official ban on Monsanto's genetically-modified (GM) corn very soon "at a European level," according to the French news source RFI. Following the recent release of a University of Caen study that found a link between the "Frankencorn" and the development of severe tumors in rats, French officials have been urging a Europe-wide ban on both the cultivation and import of the GM corn, which was never proven safe in the first place prior to its commercial release.

The study, which was published in the peer-reviewed journal Food and Chemical Toxicology, revealed for the first time that rats fed Monsanto's NK603 GM corn treated with Roundup (glyphosate) herbicide for longer than 90 days developed deadly tumors at a much higher, and much quicker, rate than rats not exposed to these products. Similar health consequences were observed in rats fed NK603 GM corn without Roundup, as well as in rats exposed to just Roundup, revealing more about the true toxicity of these two highly-pervasive food technologies.

What the study suggests, in other words, is that GMOs are far from innocuous, and that they pose some very serious health threats when consumed for long periods of time. Since there have never been any other long-term studies on the safety of GMOs -- and definitely none that have ever proven them to be safe -- it makes logical and scientific sense to adopt the precautionary principle in light of the available evidence, which is heavily stacked against the continued purveyance of GMOs.

"'Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GMO food,' including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system," says the Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT). "The AAEM (American Academy of Emergency Medicine) asked physicians to advise patients to avoid GM foods."

And this latest study out of France only affirms what groups like IRT have been warning about for years -- that GMOs are not safe, that independent research clearly illustrates their potential health risks, and that no long-term safety studies have ever definitively proven that GMO consumption is safe or beneficial to human health.

"While previous studies have usually lasted only about three months, Seralini's (French GMO study) lasted two years, the average rat's lifespan, and the illnesses developed later in the period covered," says RFI.

Flu shots triple hospitalization rates in children - but don't expect any straight answers from the government
Health Freedom Natural News :: HFNN.CA ::

by Craig Stellpflug

Mercury based thimerosal is used as a preservative to "kill organisms." Aren't humans organisms? You have to be unconscious, brainwashed or just plain stupid to allow this into your or your child's body. The majority of flu shots contain 25 micrograms of mercury, an amount considered unsafe by the EPA for anyone weighing less than 550 pounds. Now then, take the two-shot recommendation and you receive 50 micrograms of toxic mercury. Have you ever met an 1,100 pound pregnant lady or baby? But Big Pharma money talks louder than dead babies, so go ahead, get your toxic flu shot.

The U.S. government can't even agree among its own agencies about toxic mercury-based thimerosal used in vaccines. The Institute of Medicine advises that mercury-containing vaccines should NOT be injected into pregnant women, infants and children because of thimerosal's harmful effects on the immune, metabolic and nervous systems which has been widely documented.

But that's not what the hired gun Dr. Jay Lieberman told the CDC. Lieberman has been a consultant to Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, and Sanofi-Pasteur, and is on the speakers' bureau for all three vaccine-makers. All three of these Big Pharmas are currently using thimerosal in their products and Lieberman made a presentation to the CDC, ignoring the bulk of peer-reviewed research, but rather touting a small number of industry-backed, highly criticized and flawed epidemiological studies that cited no harmful associations. As far back as July 7, 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the United States Public Health Service (PHS) issued a joint statement that because of the "neuro-developmental effects posed by exposure to thimerosal...thimerosal-containing vaccines should be removed as soon as possible." This has not been done to date. Mercury levels have been lowered in some infant vaccines but according to Dr. Boyd Haley of the University of Kentucky, mercury is still present in all child vaccines.

Even a question and answer segment on the CDC website back in 1999 goes thusly: "Q: Who is most vulnerable to mercury? A: Two groups are most vulnerable to methyl mercury: the fetus and children ages 14 and younger." Of course, this contradictory embarrassment has been long-since removed from the CDC website but is easily found on other websites like: Vaccine_Pregnancy

Children who receive the flu vaccine have three times the risk of hospitalization for flu

In a study to determine if flu vaccines reduced hospitalizations in all children, children were evaluated at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota from six months to 18 years of age, all of whom had prior laboratory-confirmed influenza. It was found that vaccinated children had three times the risk of hospitalization compared to unvaccinated children along with a significantly higher risk for hospitalized-vaccinated asthmatics. Children who get the flu vaccine are more at risk for hospitalization than ones who do not get the vaccine, according to research presented at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego.

Should you get a flu shot or not?

If you had your flu shot last year, you are twice as likely to contract swine flu this year according to a Canadian study and William Douglass MD. Pandemrix caused a 17-fold increase in narcolepsy among flu-vaccinated children in one study and Dr. Hugh Fundenberg and colleagues discovered that people at 55 years of age who receive the flu vaccine each year for five years in a row, increase their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease a whopping 1,000 percent. Another study published in The Lancet reported that flu vaccines do nothing in 98.5 percent of adults but do cause neurological disorders in 7.5 percent of vaccinated people.

There is no proof that flu vaccines drop the level of flu occurrence but there is proof that they cause side effects and harm, but the choice is still yours. Make an informed one.

Mania has been reported in up to 2 per cent of bipolar patients.

How do these people live with themselves?

If you look at that long list of disturbing side effects, then the mind boggles as to why anyone would even consider giving this drug to children. Then again, I suppose when we're talking about Big Pharma, anything goes, especially when money is involved. As you and I both know, as soon as a drug has the potential to rake in millions, patient safety is the last thing on Big Pharma's mind.

Big profits were no doubt the motivation behind GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) blatant bribery of doctors to prescribe Paxil to children. In fact, the drug giant went so far as to fly psychiatrists and their partners to five-star hotels on all-expenses-paid trips, where speakers (who were paid up to $2,500 to attend) gave presentations on the drug.

Doctors who attended these 'scientific meetings' were given $750, free board and lodging and access to activities including snorkelling, golf, deep-sea fishing, rafting, glass-bottomed boat rides, hot-air balloon rides and, on one trip, a tour of the Bacardi rum distillery... and those who agreed to write extra prescriptions enjoyed further kickbacks including trips to resorts in Bermuda, Jamaica and California.

That's despicable!

But wait, there's more...

GSK even went so far as to publish an article in a medical journal that alluded to Paxil's safety for children, despite the journal asking several times for the misleading wording to be changed. Even though GSK knew that three trials had failed to prove the drugs' effectiveness in children, they still went ahead and published a report entitled "Positioning Paxil in the adolescent depression market – getting a head start"... Copies of the misleading article were given to sales representatives to pass on to doctors, in the hope that it would secure more business.

The more the merrier

An investigation found that GSK also paid $275,000 to Dr. Drew Pinsky, who hosted a popular radio show in the US, to promote another of their 'adults only' antidepressants, Wellbutrin, on his programme. GSK also claimed it could treat weight gain, sexual dysfunction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and bulimia... and those are exactly the unapproved uses Dr. Pinsky promoted on his radio show.

As if that wasn't enough, GSK launched their bestselling asthma drug, Advair, to sales representatives in Las Vegas using images of slot machines, emphasising the bonuses they could make through sales. At the event, the then chief executive, Jean-Pierre Garnier, said: "What is the number one reason why you should love to be a GSK sales rep? Advair's bonus plan. Yeah!"

GSK pushed the drug as the ultimate answer for tackling asthma, saying it should be the drug of choice for treating all cases. However, it had been approved only for treating severe cases, as other drugs were more suitable for mild asthma. GSK published material calling mild asthma a "myth" in an attempt to boost sales.

What's even more shameful is the fact that after GSK admitted corporate misconduct over all three drugs, they walked away with nothing but a slap on the wrist in the form of a $3bn fine... which is nothing compared to the profits GSK made from Paxil ($11.6bn), and Wellbutrin ($5.9bn) in 2000-2001 — the years covered by the settlement.

I am truly at a loss for words...

If pressed to answer what makes up the couch foam we sit on, most of us would shrug our shoulders and reply it's foam and air, but most of us would be dead wrong. As it turns out, there is a third component very few of us know about: our couch foam is up to 11% by weight flame retardant chemicals. And according to two new studies released today in Environmental Science and Technology, these chemicals are not necessarily guests you'd have invited into your home for Thanksgiving or otherwise. One such chemical, Tris, was banned from children's clothing in the 1970s because of concern over its ability to cause cancer, one is the globally-banned pentaBDE, a known hormone disruptor and neurotoxin in animals. And still others are completely untested for safety, despite structural similarities to known carcinogens and other toxic substances.

One of its many benefits is helping to remove bromine from the body. The element bromine and its salts are among the most harmful components of upholstery flame retardants. Bromine compounds are also common food contaminants. (Consider a house with wooden floors, wool rugs, and Shaker furniture.) Iodine also helps rid the body of mercury and fluoride.

Iodine deficiency is a prime suspect in fiborcystic disease, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Low rates of these conditions in Japan correlate to high levels of seaweed derived iodine in the Japanese diet.

The Medical Industrial Complex is only interested in treatments involving expensive patented drugs and medical devices. Any readily accessible, low cost lifestyle changes that would reduce the demand for these goods are ridiculed, disparaged, demonized, and discouraged, if not totally forbidden.

There is no money to be made treating iodine deficiency. Lugol's solution cannot be patented because it goes back to 1820. Most pharmacists don't even know what it is. Must be too new.

The use of iodized salt as a public health measure to control goiter epidemics goes back a hundred years. But a lot of people are not getting enough iodine from salt anymore. Seems that test results indicate that 90%+ of Americans are not getting enough. The RDA is way too low.

Dr. David Brownstein on Iodine - YouTube

David Brownstein, an MD, has a very disarming, low key way of speaking. For you midwesterners, his practice is in West Bloomfield, Michigan. The Midwestern United States near the Great Lakes used to be called "The Goiter Belt". Soils there are particularly low in iodine.

Don't forget about Vitamin D, another one that has endemic deficiency.

If you follow only mainstream medical advice and accept the mendacious safety assurances of the chemical industry, you will age prematurely, die young, and never know what hit you. You might even start to look like Goiter Boy. Even considering my eyes, Mr. Wax Face looks worse than I do. And my tie is snappier than his.

The Medical Industrial Complex does not exist for your benefit, Beware.

The Starfield Revelation Jon Rappoport's Blog

Quoting
Like much of America, they accept the cliches and slogans about American medicine. “It’s the best in the world.” “People are being denied treatment.” “We must take care of our citizens.”

How about this far more accurate slogan: “Let’s force more Americans to die in the care of doctors.”

The American healthcare system, like clockwork, causes a mind-boggling number of deaths every year.

On July 26, 2000, the US medical community received a titanic shock, when one of its most respected public-health experts, Dr. Barbara Starfield, revealed her findings on healthcare in America. Starfield was associated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

The Starfield study, “Is US health really the best in the world?”, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to the following conclusions:

Every year in the US there are:

12,000 deaths from unnecessary surgeries;

7,000 deaths from medication errors in hospitals;

20,000 deaths from other errors in hospitals;

80,000 deaths from infections acquired in hospitals;

106,000 deaths from FDA-approved correctly prescribed medicines.

The total of medically-caused deaths in the US every year is 225,000.

2.5 MILLION PEOPLE KILLED PER DECADE.

Quoting

The day of the Smoking Gun has arrived.

The discovery of a page, on the FDA’s own website, proves the FDA is fully aware that:

the drugs it certifies as safe have been killing Americans, at the rate of 100,000 per year.

https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DevelopmentApprovalProcess/DevelopmentResources/DrugInteractionsLabeling/ucm114848.htm

The FDA website page is currently available under the heading, “Why Learn About Adverse Drug Reactions.”

The FDA takes no blame, no responsibility for its own actions, and yet it admits the death statistics are accurate.

As an investigative reporter, I have been tracking and writing about pharmaceutically-caused deaths for 10 years. I have, on numerous occasions, cited Dr. Barbara Starfield’s report in the July 26th, 2000, Journal of the American Medical Association, in which she presents the figure of 106,000 deaths per year, in America, as a direct result of these drugs. I have claimed that the federal government and, in particular, the FDA, are aware of these numbers.

And now the page on the FDA’s own website confirms the death toll. Yet, nowhere do we see the FDA taking one shred of responsibility for this ongoing holocaust.

I though I would just toss this out there since I spent many 15 years suffering with both of these diseases and do not suffer from these diseases at all when I figured out what causes both of them. My Acid Reflux was so bad that even taking prescription Nexium I still would burn through a large bottle of ant-acids in a week and that went on for years while also suffering from Crohn's that when it flaired up felt like a knife being stuck in my abdomen.
I have a couple other health problems that when they flaired up also just made me feel like I was about to die any minute for years.
What I found after years of research to get better was that I needed to give up Milk and Milk products , All red meats and eat very limited white meat , drink lots of water and most of all eat as close as you can to being a vegitarian. I am a foody and love to eat so ocasionally I have one meal that is toxic to my body Like Thanksgiving , Christmas ham etc.
I eat a tasty granola type cereal I found(most granola cereals taste like crap) and use coconout or soy milk to eat it almost everyday for breakfast. As I am a full time trader I dont burn alot of calories so it can carry me to dinner with snacks of carrots and celery in between. If you are suffering with either of these conditions and want to know anything more feel free to ask or send a pm.

Quantismo..

Thanks for last post Q, nice to hear that you put those problems behind you.

Not that it is necessarily related to your problem, but old time doc's would often use hydrochloric acid in pill form as a treatment for stomach problems. Stomach acid production tends to DECREASE, not increase with age. The resultant incomplete and ineffective digestion can cause all kinds of havoc.

There is not much reason to think that HYPO acidity is much less common now than it was in the old days. But prescription acid inhibitors are a lot more profitable than good old HCl. You just wouldn't want to spill any on your brightly colored Ming necktie.

An important thing to consider is that HYPO acidity, especially if exacerbated by high tech patent nostrums, can cause malabsorption and malnutrition.

Reflux can be a real downer, leads to esophogeal cancer. Which killed a buddy of mine.

A close relative who was being treated with Lipitor® developed a devastating and fatal brain wasting disease. Now I read that there is a known association between statin drugs and ALS, similar to her condition.

These drugs are "the standard of care" and a gold mine. One of the corrupt side effects of government involvement in a fascistic medical-industrial power nexus is that doctors are FORCED to dispense drugs that are considered "the standard of care". So Obamacare will accomplish one thing for sure: more people will be killed by doctors.

And with each death Ming is one step closer to his goal: "I am Ming the Merciless, and I will RULE THE UNIVERSE.".

How many prescription poisons do YOU take every day? If you are not supporting The System, what good are you?

Watch those drug ads on TV, pick some conditions that interest you, and ASK YOUR DOCTOR®.

From the blog of Dr. David Brownstein - Holistic Family Medicine:

Quoting
Conventional medicine has succeeded in convincing doctors and patients that we all need to lower our cholesterol levels in order to reduce our risk of developing heart disease. However, this is no long-term data that shows that lowering your cholesterol level by taking a medication reduces your mortality rate. In fact, the best studies of statin medications show they can lower the risk of developing a non-fatal heart attack by about 1% after two or three years of use. That is the benefit of taking a medication that poisons a crucial enzyme in the body and has been associated with an increased in cancer, ALS, muscle aches and pains, as well as a decline in mental function...

There are numerous studies showing that there is an inverse correlation between cholesterol levels and the death rate in people over 59 years old. That means an elevated cholesterol level protects the elderly...

Yes milk, wheat, soy etc are top allergins. Too much meat makes your body acid.
One fellow cured himself of "uncureable" stomach cancer - the doctors sent him home to die by simply going on a live food diet (=fresh vegs and fruit and nuts etc. nothing cooked).
... amazing.

One of the first steps if you have a prb that you aren't solving is to just fast.
(plain water or water and apple juice and apples) - gives your body a chance to rest and heal.
Then add in foods one at a time.

If you have done this you would have found that as soon as you consumed milk products your body reacted.

same idea for people with gluten pbs

you might want to try rice milk or almond milk instead of soy.

a fantastic stand up desk for just that reason. All Ikea products less than $150 bucks all in. I have not, though, figured a way to make it a walking desk via the addition of a treadmill.

I will say that standing is flippin fantastic and the "feel better" effects are evident right away.

It has been explained that to make an effective walking desk the treadmill needs to be "gravity based" as the typical motor will burn out when used at slow speeds for long periods each day. So I gather that a gravity type walking treadmill is similar to a band of walking material around a series of rolling pin like rollers...anyone clued in on that?

You could put a keyboard and mouse on your handlebars and trade from your Computrainer.

Doesn't this look comfy?

On second thought maybe the stand up desk is worth another look.... However, I would want the speed of the treadmill to be controlled by the speed of the tape.

OK, enough nonsense. I have to admit that the standing or walking desk is a really good idea. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

@Zondor

Accepted and expected from you....I'm okay with being Zondored!

Originally a skeptic, on both the form and function of a stand up desk I now can offer testimony to the described benefits. I do feel better standing during productivity time. Second to that, because I am standing I do not linger in front of the machine on stuff that is not important. Last, I do feel as though focus is better from the standing position.

I'll make pics later.

This is getting a lot of mainstream attention.

TradeKing on MSNBC: We Love Stand-up Desks! | TradeKing

'Standing desks' promote good health, doctors say - WALB.com, Albany News, Weather, Sports

There is a big story today somewhere on nbc but I lost the link.

It is not the sitting per se that is the problem, so much as the lack, of movement that usually comes with it.
Fidgeting and stretching can help to a degree. It's not so easy to do that while, for example, driving a car. On long trips the tendency is to go into a trance and not do any movements unrelated to driving.

It's scary how inactive the body becomes while driving for a while and how strange it feels when getting out of the car and stumbling around like a zombie at the rest stop until metabolism speeds back up to normal. And especially scary that the sluggish state crept up on you and that you were probably not even aware of being in it.

Standing all day can be bad too, especially standing still in one place, which can really make your legs hurt. In Poland a few years ago I was surprised to see that many of the supermarkets had ergonomic chairs for the checkout workers.

The underscore was to emphasize the fact that the doctor is supposed to be working for YOU.

If you don't like the service you are getting, fire him.

A doctor should think like a scientist. Few doctors have a scientific orientation, or an understanding of the scientific method. That's not how they are trained.

They are pressured to practice insurance driven medicine where the path of least resistance is to follow the "standard of care" dictated by the drug companies through the regulators and organizations that they control with their revolving door puppet strings.

Is your doctor healthy and physically fit? If not, why would you trust his advice?

Good luck, I wish you success in kicking the drug habit. Prescription drugs will eventually kill you.

Did you know that there is a website for treadmill desks? They were invented by a doctor. One of the real ones.

Not rational to obsess about micronutrients without thinkng about macronutrients, the ones needed in large amounts.

Do whatever you can to reduce your risk of getting cancer.

Beware of chemotherapy, which offers false hope at a cruel price. I would call it a fraud and a scam.

The Cancer-Industrial Complex was not created to benefit cancer patients, and is loathe to do anything that would reduce its supply of customers (or should I say, hosts).

I just reread Questioning Chemotherapy by Ralph Moss last night. Depressing. Since that book was written, the amount of money wasted on that barbaric quackery has increased by a factor of ten.

Did you know that Lasker, who started the American Cancer Society, was the ad man behind Lucky Strike®? Lucky Strike means fine tobacco!®

Who exactly were Sloan and Kettering again? Let's think about how the automobile, petrochemical, and related industries have affected cancer incidence.

Cancer Options

Quoting
In 1991, Dr. Albert Braverman, Professor of Hematology and Oncology at the State University of New York, Brooklyn, published an article in Lancet titled "Medical Oncology in the 1990s," in which he wrote: "The time has come to cut back on the clinical investigation of new chemotherapeutic regimens for cancer and to cast a critical eye on the way chemotherapeutic treatment is now being administered."

Dr. Braverman says that there is no solid tumor incurable in 1976 that is curable today. Dr. Moss confirms this and claims that the greatest breakthrough in the objective study of chemotherapy came from a biostatistician at the University of Heidelberg, Dr. Ulrich Abel. His critique focused on whether chemotherapy effectively prolonged survival in advanced epithelial cancer. His answer was that it is not effective. He summarized and extended his findings and concluded that chemotherapy overall is ineffective. A recent search turned up exactly zero reviews of his work in American journals, even though it was published in 1990. The belief is that this is not because his work was unimportant -- but because it's irrefutable.

The 11 Scariest Things in Your Food

By Bill Phillips and the Editors of Men's Health

I always tell my daughters they can make a difference in the world, even at their tender ages of 10 and 7. To them, I probably sound like the teacher fromPeanuts—they're more interested in soccer and American Girl right now—but I hope the lesson eventually sinks in.

My latest example of a kid heroics for them: 15-year-old Sarah Kavanagh from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, who gathered more than 200,000 signatures in her online petition asking Gatorade to remove a controversial flame-retardant chemical. Last week, Gatorade announced that they would be removing the ingredient, brominated vegetable oil (BVO), within the next couple of months. That's great news—especially for me personally, because I love the stuff! Actually, so do my daughters.

While Gatorade spokeswoman Molly Carter said the decision wasn’t in response to Sarah’s petition, the teen is claiming victory. Either way, we all win.

Truth is, chemicals that are used as weed killer, flame retardant, and sunscreen are startlingly common in your supermarket. But you won’t find “carcinogens,” “paint chemicals,” or “beaver anal gland juice” on the back panel. They’ll be hidden under names like “Butylated HydroxyAnisole” or “natural flavoring.” Break through the science experiment to find out what you’re really eating.

Here are the 11 scariest ingredients in your food:
Acesulfame Potassium (Acesulfame-K)
WHAT IT IS: A calorie-free artificial sweetener 200 times sweeter than sugar. It is often used with other artificial sweeteners to mask a bitter aftertaste. FOUND IN: More than 5,000 food products worldwide, including diet soft drinks and no-sugar-added ice cream. Click here to discover The Strange Reason Diet Soda Makes You Fat . WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Although the FDA has approved it for use in most foods, many health and industry insiders claim that the decision was based on flawed tests. Animal studies have linked the chemical to lung and breast tumors and thyroid problems.

Aspartame
WHAT IT IS: A near-zero-calorie artificial sweetener made by combining two amino acids with methanol. Most commonly used in diet soda, aspartame is 180 times sweeter than sugar. FOUND IN: More than 6,000 grocery items including diet sodas, yogurts, and the table-top sweeteners NutraSweet and Equal. (Did you know that most flavored yogurt is a step above ice cream? Find out the 25 New Healthy Foods That Aren’t .) WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Over the past 30 years, the FDA has received thousands of consumer complaints due mostly to neurological symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, memory loss, and, in rare cases, epileptic seizures. Many studies have shown aspartame to be completely harmless, while others indicate that the additive might be responsible for a range of cancers.

Titanium Dioxide
WHAT IT IS: A component of the metallic element titanium commonly used in paints and sunscreens. The food industry adds it to hundreds of products to make overly processed items appear whiter. FOUND IN: Processed salad dressing, coffee creamers, and icing. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Titanium is a mined substance that's sometimes contaminated with toxic lead. Plus, most white dressings (like creamy ranch) aren’t great for you anyway. Both your health and your waistline will fare better if you go with an olive oil- or vinegar-based salad topper instead.

Glyphosphate
WHAT IT IS: The active ingredient in the popular week killer Roundup. It’s used on corn and soy crops genetically engineered to withstand a heavy dousing of the chemical. FOUND IN: Most nonorganic packaged foods containing corn- and soy-derived ingredients. Because it’s a systemic herbicide, it’s taken up by the plant—meaning you eat it. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Glyphosphate exposure is linked to obesity, learning disabilities, and infertility.

Butylated HydroxyAnisole (BHA)
WHAT IT IS: A petroleum-derived antioxidant used to preserve fats and oils. FOUND IN: Beer, crackers, cereals, butter, and foods with added fats. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Studies have shown BHA to cause cancer in the forestomachs of rats, mice, and hamsters. The Department of Health and Human Services classifies the preservative as "reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen."

Interesterified Fat
WHAT IT IS: A semi-soft fat created by chemically blending fully hydrogenated and non-hydrogenated oils. It was developed in response to the public demand for an alternative to trans fats. FOUND IN: Pastries, pies, margarine, frozen dinners, and canned soups. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Testing on these fats has not been extensive, but the early evidence doesn't look promising. A study by Malaysian researchers showed a 4-week diet of 12 percent interesterified fats increased the ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol. Furthermore, this study showed an increase in blood glucose levels and a decrease in insulin response.

Red #3 (Erythrosine) and Red #40 (Allura Red)
WHAT THEY ARE: Food dyes that are orange-red and cherry red, respectively. Red #40 is the most widely used food dye in America. FOUND IN: Fruit cocktail, candy, chocolate cake, cereal, beverages, pastries, maraschino cherries, and fruit snacks. (Confused by now about what you can eat? We scoured the supermarket for the 125 Best Packaged Foods in America .) WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The FDA has proposed a ban on Red #3 in the past, but so far the agency has been unsuccessful in implementing it. After the dye was inextricably linked to thyroid tumors in rat studies, the FDA managed to have the liquid form of the dye removed from external drugs and cosmetics.

Yellow #5 (Tartrazine) and Yellow #6 (Sunset Yellow)
WHAT THEY ARE: The second and third most common food colorings, respectively. FOUND IN: Cereal, pudding, bread mix, beverages, chips, cookies, and condiments. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Several studies have linked both dyes to learning and concentration disorders in children, and there are piles of animal studies demonstrating potential risks such as kidney and intestinal tumors. One study found that mice fed high doses of sunset yellow had trouble swimming straight and righting themselves in water. The FDA does not view these as serious risks to humans.

Castoreum
WHAT IT IS: Beaver anal gland juice. Really. Beavers combine it with their urine to mark their territory. FOUND IN: Vanilla or raspberry flavoring in processed foods, labeled only as “natural flavoring.” WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: It’s beaver anal gland juice.

I do take a statin. The top health priority now is to get off the statin medication asap.

Unless you already have a bad heart condition, statins do more harm then good. High cholesterol is a marker, not the cause of CVD. Also, I would say statins help by lowering inflammation not because they decrease the cholesterol level. But if you really have to take statins, take it with CoQ-10, because statins deprive the body of that. All doctors should subscribe statins with CoQ-10.

Now if you want to lower your cholesterol without statins, there is a cheap and healthy way. I used Niacin and fish oil with exercise and my cholesterol came down by 30%. But again, high cholesterol itself is not dangerous, it is the high tryglicerid with the combination of high VLDL that can cause CVD....

Fish oil also lowers trygs and generally good for joints and skin....

By the way there are lots of bad info in this thread....

To say that is is total BS is to call me a liar.

Actually, not. You can state a non-fact, without realizing it, then you are simply mistaken, mislead or misinformed. To be a liar, you have to know that what you say is not true. A very good example would be the very sentence I quoted from you.

I am glad I was able to clear that up for you...

I have researched the cholesterol issue extensively, I will provide links later on today. You can watch the movie Fat head on Youtube or Netflix, specially the second part of it, that explains a lot...

Since the cholesterol issue is rather complicated and lots of misconceptions exist even among doctors, I encourage everybody concerned to do your own research and use common sense. I will provide here a few good links and a quick summary... Or you can just search for lipid hypothesis...

Lipid Hypothesis. We have been duped, very poor relationship to CVD

Myths and Facts About Your LipidProfile - Articles - LifeTime WeightLoss

Heart Disease: Understand the Difference between Truth and Myth, Part I

Lipid hypothesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Summary:

1. Half the people who get heart attacks do NOT have elevated cholesterol levels.
2. Half the people with elevated cholesterol do NOT suffer from Coronary Heart Disease.
3. Statins mostly help people with an existing heart condition.
4. For women over 55 years old there is absolutely no benefits of taking statins.
5. The preventive nature of statins are most likely from their anti-inflammatory effect not from cholesterol lowering.
6. There is a direct link between CVD and high tryglicerid levels, specially if high VLDL is also present.
7. You can lower both cholesterol and tryg by using natural products, instead of statins. Niacin and fish oil are such.
8. Dietary cholesterol has almost no effect on your blood serum cholesterol. Most of your cholesterol is made in your liver.
9. If you have an existing heart condition and you have to take statins, take it with CoQ-10 enzime. It is important for muscle performance (specially heart muscle) and statins deprive the body from it.
10. The real culprit in atherosclerotic plaque buildup is generalized inflammation. This causes low density lipoproteins to be deposited on blood vessel walls where they form plaques.

One good way to find useful (and healthy products) is to read user reviews at Amazon. If you read the feedback on Niacin and CoQ-10, you can find other useful tips.

One word on Niacin: There are 3 types, normal, extended release and non-flushing. Niacon causes flushing (warm sensation) in some people. To avoid this, people need to build up their dosage slowly. The problem with non-flushing Niacin that it doesn't work at all, so forget about it. The extended release puts too much pressure on the liver, so caution is needed.

Instead of going into details about everything, if there is a specific question, I can try to answer it...

Here?s the ?Enormous Problem? Facing States: Ravitch | Daily Ticker - Yahoo! Finance

Richard Ravitch corrrectly points out that exploding health care costs are a critical factor in state and local government fiscal problems.

Note how fat he is; Ironically, he is a poster boy for the metabolic syndrome which is the main driver of the health catastrophe n the US today. Ming just could not resist the irony.

For those of you who are attempting to deal with your chronic diet and activity related health problems with prescription drugs, be aware that metabolic syndrome is not caused by a dietary deficiency of prescription drugs. The drugs used to treat it will end up killing you.

How to control it? Limit carbohydrate intake and glycemic load. Keep blood sugar levels as low as possible. Any fasting blood levels above 85 are a cause for concern. Consider adapting Intermittent Fasting strategies. Consider Paleo lifestyle. Be aware of the downsides of consumption of animal based foods. Avoid food containing Roundup® residues, including all GMO crap. Avoid destructive low intensity "aerobic" exercise and do interval training instead.

Metabolic syndrome continues to climb in the U.S. | Reuters
By Amy Norton
NEW YORK | Fri Oct 15, 2010 5:01pm EDT
(Reuters Health) - There is no end in sight for the increasing rate of metabolic syndrome among Americans, with the prevalence growing among young adults as well, a new study finds.

Metabolic syndrome refers to a collection of risk factors for type 2 diabetes and heart disease that includes abdominal obesity (belly fat), high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, low HDL ("good") cholesterol, and high triglycerides (another type of blood fat).

The markers of Metabolic Syndrome per the National Institutes of Health:
What Is Metabolic Syndrome? - NHLBI, NIH

The five conditions described below are metabolic risk factors. You can have any one of these risk factors by itself, but they tend to occur together. You must have at least three metabolic risk factors to be diagnosed with metabolic syndrome.

A large waistline. This also is called abdominal obesity or "having an apple shape." Excess fat in the stomach area is a greater risk factor for heart disease than excess fat in other parts of the body, such as on the hips.
A high triglyceride level (or you're on medicine to treat high triglycerides). Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood.
A low HDL cholesterol level (or you're on medicine to treat low HDL cholesterol). HDL sometimes is called "good" cholesterol. This is because it helps remove cholesterol from your arteries. A low HDL cholesterol level raises your risk for heart disease.
High blood pressure (or you're on medicine to treat high blood pressure). Blood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage your heart and lead to plaque buildup.
High fasting blood sugar (or you're on medicine to treat high blood sugar). Mildly high blood sugar may be an early sign of diabetes.

I read a couple of years back that if your work requires sitting for extended periods of time each day you shorten your lifespan by up to 10 years - even if you exercise.

Then last week that if your work requires sitting for extended periods of time each day you increase your chance of getting diabeties - even if you exercise. This clipping recommended getting up occasionally - for example when on the phone.

I know some people who have computer desk that rise so you can work standing.

I teller in the bank said she had back problems when she use to sit but now that she stands she is OK.

They have those walking treadmill desks, or youtube videos to show how you can makeshift one of your own.

I don't know. Maybe I do have "sarcopenia". My back always aches. I try to do stretches.

Anyone every tried one of those posts or whatever that one can hang upside down on? A co-worker had told me
they were available at "Big 5 sporting goods". And those people who practice head stands with the wall...

They are called inversion tables and you can buy a really nice, sturdy one from Amazon for under $130. It is worth a try. I have one and it is pretty comfortable. You don't need to be completely upside down, a nice 30 degrees decline does the job.

I don't use it as frequently as I should, but it is very relaxing and I always get sleepy on it probably due to more blood going to my head. One thing to look for is the leg holding, because it can get uncomfortable after a while (specially for heavy people), so read the reviews first before buying one.

But it is good for decompressing your spine, some chiropractors have a 70K machine that does the same thing and they charge good money for each session....

Edit: I have just realized you were talking about posts, not tables. I guess the disadvantage of those that you always put all your weight on your legs and you can't change the decline. By the way if your gym has a rowing machine with an adjustable incline, you can try and lie on it upside down and test the feeling.

I recently purchased a high end massage chair recliner:

IT-9800 | Infinity? Massage Chairs

I got a great deal on a floor model that was used probably less than 20 times from a small store front, and the manufacturer also put a brand new back mechanism on it and gave me an extended warranty, for less than half the price the chair normally goes for.

It is on a truck to be delivered this week, so I can't speak from experience yet. But I can tell you I've not been this excited to take delivery on something in a long time. It has inversion therapy, which I know from prior experience is going to be a huge relief for me. I look forward to this chair.

Mike

I haven't followed the whole thread but I thought I would chime anyway. Robert Young has done a lot of research in pH levels in the blood and how it effects health. Its a good read.

Amazon.com: The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health (9780446556187): Shelley Redford Young, Robert O. Young: Books

Just warn you there are a lot of high end water purifiers and other stuff that is way over the top in my opinion. But there is good info about supplements and cleansing.

ill tell you what has worked wonders for me---super foods. green and or/brown powder that you mix with water or fruit juice

i am not talking about the protein stuff that body builders take- rather its the "green "mixes of powered wheat grass and tons of other healthy ingredients. stuff like "ultimate meal" and "midori greens" and countless other brands available at your local health store.

I have the stuff shipped to me in thailand and i start every day with it. one scoop is equivalent to 6 helpings of fresh veggies-plus plus----really awesome stuff--unleashes the natural energy --i never get fatigued anymore--

combine that with a decent exercise regimen and a few other vitiamins--(calcium citrate) , fish oils, --had one cold in the past 2 years--havn't been to the doc in... --i cant even remember the last time--i'm 54

Maybe I got the wrong idea, but I thought that the peer reviewed, journal published scientific papers that Dr. Greger is incessantly quoting point to the conclusion that people should be eating more fruits and vegetables.

He does not talk about exotic, proprietary, expensive, brown and green powders too much. But I have nothing against single serve cans of Fred Meyer brand roasted beets that are a convenient source of nitrate and only cost 69 cents.

Time to re-read the link posted by @shodson (post #62)and to bear the following in mind in regard to the most dangerous machine you are ever likely to come into contact with:

Quoting
Some of the most insidious effects of too little sleep involve mental processes like learning, memory, judgment and problem-solving. During sleep, new learning and memory pathways become encoded in the brain, and adequate sleep is necessary for those pathways to work optimally. People who are well rested are better able to learn a task and more likely to remember what they learned. The cognitive decline that so often accompanies aging may in part result from chronically poor sleep.

With insufficient sleep, thinking slows, it is harder to focus and pay attention, and people are more likely to make poor decisions and take undue risks. As you might guess, these effects can be disastrous when operating a motor vehicle or dangerous machine [SUCH AS AN ORDER ENTRY INTERFACE! ].

dr gregor is right of course--people should be eating more fruits and vegtables--and one scoop of superfood will provide the nutrients of 6 portions of vegtables----++ its not expensive either.

But the scientific evidence has become overwhelming. WATCH THIS VIDEO.

Even if you don't cut out the meat, adding more plant based foods will have huge benefits.

For those athletes whose immune systems are compromised by intense workouts, NUTRITIONAL YEAST is the solution. Something for me to try with all these 250 mile plus bike riding weeks lately.

Esophageal cancer is bad news, almost always a quick killer. Hmm... precancerous changes in the esophagus have been reversed by treatment with... strawberry extract?????????!!!!

Etc etc etc...

Read the book "The China Study" and gain a new appreciation about eating meat and the dangers of doing it.

I am not a vegan or a vegetarian, but I do go out of my way to buy organic grass fed hormone free meat when possible. Costco is pretty good on this, they have hormone free chicken and organic grass fed beef.

I am presently on day 5 of a water fast. I'm not looking to get into an argument about whether it is good or bad for you. I believe it is good for ME. I am doing it for my body, there is no religious reason.

It means fasting on water only. So for past 5 days I have had several liters of water per day, and nothing more.

Yes, I've been reading about it for the last 18 months after I finished my 60 day juice fast (18 months ago). A juice fast is fasting on only fruit and mostly vegetables processed via a juicer, with all the pulp discarded.

The three-day fast: Day Four | Josh Mitteldorf

Results of a new study on mice and a phase 1 trial of humans suggest that prolonged cycles of fasting - for 2-4 days at a time - not only protect against toxic effects of chemotherapy, but also trigger stem cell regeneration of new immune cells and clearing out of old, damaged cells.

The study, by researchers from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, and published in the journal Cell Stem Cell, is the first to show that a natural intervention can trigger regeneration of an organ or system through stem cells.

The team believes the findings could benefit people with immune system damage, for example if they have received chemotherapy treatment for cancer. It could also benefit the elderly whose immune systems are weakened through aging, making them more susceptible to disease.

What if you did not eat anything for three days? BIG SURPRISE HERE

I've done a two week water fast, where I consumed nothing but water.

I've also done a 90 day (three month) juice fast, where I consumed nothing but juiced veggies and fruits (minus pulp, unlike a blender). About 2 heads of lettuce a day, two huge bags of parsley and cilantro, several apples and a couple lemons, each day (plus lots of other variations -- just illustrating an example).

In both, the hardest part is the first week as your body adjusts. After that it gets much easier (no hunger pains). For this reason I personally think doing a 2 week water fast every now and then as opposed to a more frequent but shorter duration 2-3 day water fast, is better. But everyone is different.

Both are fantastic ways to cleanse your body.

Yes, two weeks with just water (water fast) and ninety days with just liquid juice from veggies and fruits. Two separate events.

It does take enormous will power, but any good trader should have that in spades.

Fasting can have a lot of health benefits, especially if you are in poor health like me.

I can tell a story about high cholesterol/Lipitor.

Throughout the latter 1990's I suffered from extremely high Cholesterol...by the year 2003 I was 12x high risk and my GP was constantly suggesting I take Lipitor ....I was also borderline diabetic...which is really diabetes in denial.

I did take it eventually but stopped after 3 weeks as my hands went arthritic...my fingers hurt and I was a programmer back then and I needed my hands....stopped taking the lipitor and the hurt went away...in retrospect with the news about lipitor that was a really good thing...I was one of the 15% who are allergic to statins

I went to a Naturopath and the first thing he did was put me on a cleansing diet which eliminates wheat among other things and I did this without telling my GP and after one month my cholesterol dropped 10%. My GP went through the roof when he found out what I had done and accused me of being hopped up on some kind of naturopathic drug...which I was not. I believed I was allergic to wheat because it was the main item I stopped eating.

Soon after I went to Thailand for 6 months teaching ESL. I went there 10x high risk and came back high normal...I also reduced my weight from 245 lbs to 210lbs in those 6 months. There is very little wheat in a Thai diet...rice, lots of veg, little bit of chicken/pork, almost no beef, lots of fish and fruit....I felt great.

It reinforced my belief that wheat was bad for me....I was not celiac though. Three months on a normal western diet I was back to square one again and I was now diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. the GP read the riot act and said probably truly that if I continued on this way I would get pancreatitis (sp?). I said I would eliminate wheat again.

I did...after one month my cholesterol dropped 10% and every month thereafter there was an additional 10% drop until I was low normal where to plateaued out.

but it is hard to eliminate wheat I really feel for people with celiac disease. And I had to deal with diabetes now.

I read a book titled SugarBusters The New Sugar Busters! Cut Sugar to Trim Fat: H. Leighton Steward, Morrison Bethea, Sam Andrews, Luis A. Balart: 9780345469588: Amazon.com: Books

It is written by 4 MD and consisted of drumming the evils of sugar into your head and made the connection between Sugar and Cholesterol. There was a case study in it that could have been me....diabetic, overweight, and very high cholesterol AND allergic to Lipitor

I realized I was not allergic to wheat...I was converting the wheat to sugar ...lots of bread...lots of sugar production.

I also found out that the body's control of cholesterol takes place at night. Controlling my blood sugar and not having high blood sugars before retiring to sleep let my body control cholesterol levels properly. The body produces 85% of the Cholesterol in your system....food only contributes 15% so it makes sense to allow your body to work properly in this respect.

Ever since controlling my night sugars, I have had normal cholesterol levels...no more 12x high risk situations any more...and I do it without drugs!!!

Diabetes though is not as easy to control sadly.

Do you think attempting these feats of willpower can help a trader's discipline? I think it's interesting that you mention it. I was always intrigued by the one trader who turned 10k into 1m and he never smokes or drinks and he runs 5 miles a day. I just find it mind blowing that you can go without food for two weeks, can't get over that lol.

Sometimes I go without food for a day and when I eat again the roof of my mouth gets extremely sore until after I eat a few meals. I think it has something to do with my saliva glands not having enough vitamins to produce saliva or something.

Sure, but first let me say I am not a doctor and you should seek medical advice.

Also keep in mind you are drinking huge amounts of water. And if you are skinny then probably a 2-week fast is not a good idea, you will lose muscle because you should be careful with exerting yourself during the fast.

You can find books on this subject and tons of interviews, video journals etc on YouTube. I did enormous research, I didn't just wake up and decide to fast.

Like anything, exercise will improve results -- so if you want to improve your discipline, you need to exercise discipline.

Eat rice, beans (varied types, try mung beans!), peas, and quinoa instead. In my case, these low glycemic, high fiber staples are providing plenty of caloric fuel and protein for a couple of hundred miles per week of high performance road bike riding. Then add a variety of fruits and vegetables including crucifers, citrus, and dark leafy greens. Berries are very good too. Eat some cooked tomato products every day and use turmeric on your food. Strictly limit any consumption of fruit juices, with their high sugar and fructose burden. Strive to maintain low and consistent levels of blood sugar. Although low glycemic, fructose is metabolized in the liver similarly to ethyl alcohol and can cause the same kinds of damage.

Be mindful of the problem of arsenic in rice as mentioned by Consumer Reports Magazine. Don't eat white rice, which matches the nutritional profile of laundry starch.

Throw in some flax, sunflower, chia, and black cumin seeds. If not eating meat you will definitely need to supplement with B12 to avoid very serious problems. Most meat eaters are low on B12 too. If eating meat, chicken, fish or dairy, you will be exposing your body to the effects of bioaccumulated industrial and environmental toxins including hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals, PCBs, and endotoxins resulting from the cooking of antibiotic resistant bacteria (or maybe even to those bugs themselves if you undercook). And eating dead animals will make you smell bad in more ways than one.

Don't forget the DHA and EPA fats, best obtained from non fish sources such as what I take: Vegan DHA & EPA - Omega-3 - Delayed Release due to PCB and mercury contamination of the marine food chain.

Almost everyone in the US is low on vitamin D and iodine. The average 65+ Boobus Americanus fills 31 prescriptions per year. People are so lazy, and so gullible...... The medical industrial complex preys on this by telling people what they want to hear - "we, and only we, have the magic bullet/ holy grail. Your problems are caused by dietary deficiencies of patent medicines and anyone who says otherwise is a quack."

Coffee is a good source of antioxidants but is one of the most heavily sprayed of all crops. Get organic, fair trade whole beans and prepare them with a burr grinder. I pour the ground coffee into a saucepan of 200F water, let it sit for a few minutes, and then pour it through a filter. Simple but effective. Vanilla flavored hemp milk makes a good creamer. I have a weakness for nuts, dark chocolate, and guacamole... doesn't everyone?

I think juicing is a fad without scientific merit. Not being considered is the fact that indigestible fiber is critical to your health. It slows the absorption of sugars from food and nourishes the beneficial gut bacteria that produce absorbable nutrients that cannot be made any other way, and prevent the overgrowth of pathogens, preventing leaky gut, diverticulosis, and related problems.

Follow the Mitteldorf aging blog and don't forget about those findings regarding fasting and stem cell regeneration.

I got a juicer after watching the documentary fat, sick & nearly dead and had it for like a two weeks. It was nice to experiment but most of the vegetables produced so little viable juice I'd have to put em through multiple times and ended up throwing most of the substance away. It got to be such a hassle to clean that I just got rid of it in favor of a blender which actually saves the fruit.

Get a quality juicer, will run around $300 or so. No need to put things thru twice.

Problem with the blender is it's the same as just eating whatever you are blending. With a juicer, it eliminates the pulp and you get a super high concentration of the the minerals and vitamins and nutrition in the juice, and you are able to consume like 25x more of it than you would if you were consuming the pulp (blender).

I've also seen the documentary, it was excellent.

With a juicer, it eliminates the pulp and you get a super high concentration of the the minerals and vitamins and nutrition in the juice, and you are able to consume like 25x more of it than you would if you were consuming the pulp (blender).

I've also seen the documentary, it was excellent.

Mike

I have juiced veges for years and recommend following that suggestion to fast on fruit / vege juices that you personally grind. The blenders that juice and leave the pulp in, create something akin to smoothies that are quickly satiate ones tolerance for them. One thing the advertisers will never admit is the resultant pulp blend quickly settles and the juice floats. Another thing is one can not let the resultant pulp stand unrefrigerated or kept over for the next day or longer.

Good health to you all and good trading too!

One juice will take like four big leaves of lettuce or kale, handful of parsley and cilantro, a lemon, two apples, and whatever other veggies you want to focus on for that drink.

In other words, a lot.

And that's for one drink. You should have four a day or so.

I had nothing in my fridge except veggies for juicing, a huge fridge mind you, and was going back to Whole Foods every two or three days. Nothing else in my fridge.

Yes, but there's also a super high sugar concentration..... I tried this for several months, but really found the sugar a problem, so I just eat the fruit and vegetables in those convenient, biodegradable packages supplied by nature.

I was juicing about 90% veggies and 10% fruit.

I wouldn't focus on sugar or worry about sugar when juicing.

Lack of digestion let's your body focus on other older things it has been storing. I saw a lot of improvement after about four weeks.

The other day the CEO of Soylent was the guest on the Colbert Report.

https://www.salon.com/2014/06/12/watch_stephen_colbert_taste_test_the_liquid_food_of_the_future_soylent/

Soylent is liquid food, that simplifies eating (meal replacement). It contains all the necessary ingredients what a human needs, at a lower cost and time savings. A 2000 cal daily dose costs $9 and you save time by just drinking it quickly from a bottle as compared to going out for a meal or preparing something. Here is a blog a guy trying it out for 2 weeks:

Soylent: What Happened When I Stopped Eating For 2 Weeks | The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss

Now obviously if one wants to diet, you can take less of it, instead of the 2000 cal per day. There are also similar but even more organic liquid foods on the market:

https://time.com/2852645/soylent-has-some-competition-and-we-taste-tested-it/

"What makes Ambronite different: Soylent is made of powdered supplements whereas Ambronite is an all-natural, organic meal-drink that uses pulverized real-food ingredients, says co-founder Simo Suoheimo, who lives in Finland. Ambronite’s 20 blended ingredients include oats, walnuts, apple, spirulina, and seabuckthorn, and everything is organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and with no artificial ingredients. One serving has 500 calories (you can always use just half), only four grams of natural sugar, 50% of your daily total fiber needs, and over half of your protein intake."

I juiced mostly carrots. Lettuce is used to sweeten the bitter veggies. Celery adds necessary salts. Beets and their greens especially adds the vitamins and substance. Kale, collards, ginger, cucumber rounds things out. Never really did tomato. Cantaloupe (in this setting of being juiced) is the hidden super food loaded with vitamins more so than the others combined, seeds included. Papaya is the hidden gem (seeds included), doesn't really juice but pulps, and detoxes and cleanses better than Comet Cleanser...

I would usually do half gallon, sometimes a gallon at a time, then clean up before it dries on the machinery. Two tall glasses (if you can stand that much fluid at once) every two hours or as hunger calls you out, and do this for a solid day. That routine makes up for a whole lot of food, prescription and other ailments.

Good health to you all.

Oh, you can reduce the carrot to reduce the natural sugars.

I have a weakness for nuts, dark chocolate, and guacamole... doesn't everyone?

Ha ha, you seriously just described my diet

I've been gluten free for 1.5 years. An IgG blood antibody test also showed allergies to dairy and eggs, so I stopped eating these too. The good news is that it was painless to drop 30 lbs and keep the weight off

How Intermittent Fasting Can Help You Live Healthier, Longer

Just because you can't bear the idea of eating less doesn't mean you have to change the subject to juicing again. If you do, I just might respond with abstruse ruminations about optimization of the coding of multi time frame indicators!

here are 3 of the best holistic approaches that I have come across, and benefited from, and share (not recommend), share with all my trading buddies....

perhaps in the spirit of sharing, that builds consensus, and consensus builds success! actually that concept is what built the great trading partnerships of Wall Street, where similar like minded individuals, traders and other talented operators formed their own power houses of Wall Street, long before the need to incorporate swept through the canyons of the once venerated Wall Street, fwiw....

ok, using the same approach, here they are:

pound for pound, I felt that those three things recommended constituted the best contribution I have done ever, to a traders thread, whether here on futures.io (formerly BMT) or elsewhere.

it would be fascinating to know how many benefit from those suggestions...

either way to sunday,

taking care of one's health, mental, spiritual, physical, psychological all helps towards being effective in trading...

good health to you ....

Interesting posts to be found on a trading site. However, I must admit I am enjoying them. Thanks!
