Yes, two weeks with just water (water fast) and ninety days with just liquid juice from veggies and fruits. Two separate events.

It does take enormous will power, but any good trader should have that in spades.

Fasting can have a lot of health benefits, especially if you are in poor health like me.

Mike

Do you think attempting these feats of willpower can help a trader's discipline? I think it's interesting that you mention it. I was always intrigued by the one trader who turned 10k into 1m and he never smokes or drinks and he runs 5 miles a day. I just find it mind blowing that you can go without food for two weeks, can't get over that lol.

Sometimes I go without food for a day and when I eat again the roof of my mouth gets extremely sore until after I eat a few meals. I think it has something to do with my saliva glands not having enough vitamins to produce saliva or something.

Sure, but first let me say I am not a doctor and you should seek medical advice.

Also keep in mind you are drinking huge amounts of water. And if you are skinny then probably a 2-week fast is not a good idea, you will lose muscle because you should be careful with exerting yourself during the fast.

You can find books on this subject and tons of interviews, video journals etc on YouTube. I did enormous research, I didn't just wake up and decide to fast.

Like anything, exercise will improve results -- so if you want to improve your discipline, you need to exercise discipline.

Eat rice, beans (varied types, try mung beans!), peas, and quinoa instead. In my case, these low glycemic, high fiber staples are providing plenty of caloric fuel and protein for a couple of hundred miles per week of high performance road bike riding. Then add a variety of fruits and vegetables including crucifers, citrus, and dark leafy greens. Berries are very good too. Eat some cooked tomato products every day and use turmeric on your food. Strictly limit any consumption of fruit juices, with their high sugar and fructose burden. Strive to maintain low and consistent levels of blood sugar. Although low glycemic, fructose is metabolized in the liver similarly to ethyl alcohol and can cause the same kinds of damage.

Be mindful of the problem of arsenic in rice as mentioned by Consumer Reports Magazine. Don't eat white rice, which matches the nutritional profile of laundry starch.

Throw in some flax, sunflower, chia, and black cumin seeds. If not eating meat you will definitely need to supplement with B12 to avoid very serious problems. Most meat eaters are low on B12 too. If eating meat, chicken, fish or dairy, you will be exposing your body to the effects of bioaccumulated industrial and environmental toxins including hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals, PCBs, and endotoxins resulting from the cooking of antibiotic resistant bacteria (or maybe even to those bugs themselves if you undercook). And eating dead animals will make you smell bad in more ways than one.

Don't forget the DHA and EPA fats, best obtained from non fish sources such as what I take: Vegan DHA & EPA - Omega-3 - Delayed Release due to PCB and mercury contamination of the marine food chain.

Almost everyone in the US is low on vitamin D and iodine. The average 65+ Boobus Americanus fills 31 prescriptions per year. People are so lazy, and so gullible...... The medical industrial complex preys on this by telling people what they want to hear - "we, and only we, have the magic bullet/ holy grail. Your problems are caused by dietary deficiencies of patent medicines and anyone who says otherwise is a quack."

Coffee is a good source of antioxidants but is one of the most heavily sprayed of all crops. Get organic, fair trade whole beans and prepare them with a burr grinder. I pour the ground coffee into a saucepan of 200F water, let it sit for a few minutes, and then pour it through a filter. Simple but effective. Vanilla flavored hemp milk makes a good creamer. I have a weakness for nuts, dark chocolate, and guacamole... doesn't everyone?

I think juicing is a fad without scientific merit. Not being considered is the fact that indigestible fiber is critical to your health. It slows the absorption of sugars from food and nourishes the beneficial gut bacteria that produce absorbable nutrients that cannot be made any other way, and prevent the overgrowth of pathogens, preventing leaky gut, diverticulosis, and related problems.

Follow the Mitteldorf aging blog and don't forget about those findings regarding fasting and stem cell regeneration.

I got a juicer after watching the documentary fat, sick & nearly dead and had it for like a two weeks. It was nice to experiment but most of the vegetables produced so little viable juice I'd have to put em through multiple times and ended up throwing most of the substance away. It got to be such a hassle to clean that I just got rid of it in favor of a blender which actually saves the fruit.

Get a quality juicer, will run around $300 or so. No need to put things thru twice.

Problem with the blender is it's the same as just eating whatever you are blending. With a juicer, it eliminates the pulp and you get a super high concentration of the the minerals and vitamins and nutrition in the juice, and you are able to consume like 25x more of it than you would if you were consuming the pulp (blender).

I've also seen the documentary, it was excellent.

I have juiced veges for years and recommend following that suggestion to fast on fruit / vege juices that you personally grind. The blenders that juice and leave the pulp in, create something akin to smoothies that are quickly satiate ones tolerance for them. One thing the advertisers will never admit is the resultant pulp blend quickly settles and the juice floats. Another thing is one can not let the resultant pulp stand unrefrigerated or kept over for the next day or longer.

Good health to you all and good trading too!

One juice will take like four big leaves of lettuce or kale, handful of parsley and cilantro, a lemon, two apples, and whatever other veggies you want to focus on for that drink.

In other words, a lot.

And that's for one drink. You should have four a day or so.

I had nothing in my fridge except veggies for juicing, a huge fridge mind you, and was going back to Whole Foods every two or three days. Nothing else in my fridge.

Yes, but there's also a super high sugar concentration..... I tried this for several months, but really found the sugar a problem, so I just eat the fruit and vegetables in those convenient, biodegradable packages supplied by nature.

I was juicing about 90% veggies and 10% fruit.

I wouldn't focus on sugar or worry about sugar when juicing.

Lack of digestion let's your body focus on other older things it has been storing. I saw a lot of improvement after about four weeks.
