Big Mike
I'm sometimes in the mood for some very mellow music, a soothing and calming experience. Sometimes I'm in the mood for music with a beat (but no lyrics) where you can really focus on the music itself.
If you have suggestions for the best classical, blues or jazz, please share them here. (Youtube videos, etc).
Mike
Mike, I was a jazz major in college and a blues player by profession. I would love to send you some stuff, but not sure of the easiest way to do it.

Big Mike, not instrumental, but I get a kick out of Rob Blackledge, "Risk Worth Taking". Great solo guitar vocalist that is lesser known.

Can anyone suggest the "Essential" lp's of the greats?
Miles Davis
John Coltrane.... etc...
The vintage pieces when they were in their prime....
It seems I have lot's of time on my hands these days and I would like to expand my consciousness.....

JC - Giant Steps
MD - Live at Carnegie Hall (live)
are personal favourites. MD Kind of Blue seems to be his best known album but I dont know if its just a modern re-release of remastered stuff.
You may want to take a look at Blue Note and Impulse record labels. They did tons of stuff with all the greats.
If you like John Coltrane, you may also like Sonny Clark - another great artist on Blue Note. Here's an example....
