Wow Devil Man that was great! Descending into some clouds and then bam! The runway was right there. Very cool stuff!

@dnkhoward2 thanks..glad you like it... Yeah it can be a little disconcerting for some when you see a big jet descending into the clouds right towards mountains lol.

Knocked out 2 hours over the last month or so. Business has been really busy so time is limited. But I have been trying to do an hour to 2 a month atleast. Goal is to get to atleast an hour a week soon. I am up to almost 20 hrs now.

I am able to take off, and land by myself so far. Still have to work on lining my landing up better I tend to drift right a bit. I also tend to round off my pattern too much. (Too much SIM, where you can land at almost any angle ).

I think it will probably be 40hrs before I am ready to solo. I am gonna get a gopro and record the solo.

Make sure you find an instructor that you can get along with and know what you want to do. Had one instructor that did get along with at all. I had no ambition to be a commercial pilot.

He would get mad if you deviated off the centerline on take off. Did that to dodge some sand hill cranes that were an issue. He also pulled a radio of the rack after making a call for turning final going into a strip. I told him it was his radio and throw it out the window if he wanted to. Wrong answer. He got off my case when the engine on a C-172 died on me on rotation. Enough runway to deal with and not an issue. He also wanted perfect square patterns. Told him to get lost and got another A/C to rent. He would not last long flying in the mountains or strange airports.

Found a guy that really get a long with. Old cargo dog. We do flight reviews on friday. Fly into Iola in Wi. for lunch. Guess who buys lunch. Lots of traffic, takes two people to do it right. Gotta know the airport and how to do really short field landings. A bunch of old fart pilots sitting in overstuffed chairs watching you land.
Spins are part of review along with unusual attitudes some other weird things he can come up with. Last time he threw in flying 500 ft patterns instead of what they were supposed to be. My patterns have turned into not much for corners at all with a slip thrown in once a while. Much easier for me to deal with crosswinds.

Have multi and IFR ratings. Don't do either any more.
