The 40 hours is only the minimum. Most take up to 20 hours more.

The medical is in there also. May want to do that first.

If you study while flying, it will make much more sense. The test is kinda hard.

IFRC you don't have to have the test out of the way until you are ready for your license/ check ride.

Lots of $$$ to fly a private jet. Be thinking a multi, ATP, instrument, and type rating for a minimum.

If you ever get the chance, go to EAA Air Adventure.

Good luck, it is worth the effort.

Med and ground school are done and I have 15 hrs in the bag. I started heavy but then stopped because I couldn't handle or afford to finish. I have now made it a priority to finish the license. I will get instrument and multi done as well.

I'm a private pilot. Got my license about 20 years ago, but I'm not current. When I had kids I decided to no longer fly until they were a bit older. Plus money / time issues. I hope to get current in the next couple of years.

I am ifr mep certified, yes you have to study and well understand the basics of flying. Saefty means learning!
