My Mom taught Statistics, these polls mean nothing. I remember Monsanto went into Whole Foods and did a survey to get a positive polling on GMO's. They rig the game and any statistic or poll can be done to get the desired result. Don't listen to this kind of propaganda.

Is it even possible to get non gmo corn, I love corn...

Yes, you can get organic corn which is not GMO.
Here in California, Trader Joes sells a lot of GMO free things: frozen Organic Corn, Broccolli etc. You can also go to any health food store and ask for organic corn and they have it there.

Scientists: New GMO wheat may 'silence' vital human genes (Includes interview)

Scientists: New GMO wheat may 'silence' vital human genes:
By Elliott Freeman
"Australian scientists are expressing grave concerns over a new type of genetically engineered wheat that may cause major health problems for people that consume it.

University of Canterbury Professor Jack Heinemann announced the results of his genetic research into the wheat, a type developed by Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), at a press conference last month."

"What we found is that the molecules created in this wheat, intended to silence wheat genes, can match human genes, and through ingestion, these molecules can enter human beings and potentially silence our genes," Heinemann stated.

"The findings are absolutely assured. There is no doubt that these matches exist."
Flinders University Professor Judy Carman and Safe Food Foundation Director Scott Kinnear concurred with Heinemann's analysis.

"If this silences the same gene in us that it silences in the wheat -- well, children who are born with this enzyme not working tend to die by the age of about five," Carman said.

Digital Journal contacted Heniemann and Kinnear for more information on their research and future actions they may take regarding this issue.
"To date we have not heard from CSIRO, nor are we aware that CSIRO has released any safety studies into the GM wheat," Kinnear said in an email response. "We are in the final stages of drafting a formal letter to CSIRO which will be requesting further information and asking for them to undertake the studies that are recommended in our reports."

According to the researchers, extended testing should be performed before the wheat is put on store shelves. "We firmly believe that long term chronic toxicological feeding studies are required in addition to the detailed requests made by Heinemann for the DNA sequences used," Kinnear stated.

"The industry routinely does feeding studies anyway, so it should not be too much more difficult to do long term (lifetime) studies and include inhalation studies," Heinemann added. "These should be tuned to the way people would be exposed to the product."

The researchers also cautioned consumers against eating the wheat if it is approved prematurely.
"I would advise citizens to request that these tests be done and the evidence meet with their standards of scientific rigour if in the end it is approved for use," said Heinemann.

If the concerns surrounding CSIRO's GM wheat are not resolved, the issue could end up in court, according to Kinnear:
"If CSIRO was to consider moving towards human feeding trials without conducting these studies, we would be looking at what legal avenues are available to stop them."

Another Study Finds GMO Compounds in 100% of Pregnant Women and Fetuses

Elizabeth Renter
NaturalSociety
October 27, 2012

"In many ways we are searching for real science, not funded by the GMO companies themselves, to tell us the truth about genetically modified organisms and their dangers. Because these companies control access to their chemicals and any related research, what we have is little. But from the little we know, there is much to fear concerning genetically modified organisms.

Most recently, scientists in Canada conducted a study on pregnant and non-pregnant women, looking for the chemicals found in pesticides related to genetically modified foods. What they found was frightening indeed.

100% of Women Had At Least 1 of These Toxins

According to GreenMedInfo.com, the scientists were looking for 5 basic toxins. Those include:

Glyphosate (Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide)

Gluphosinate (an herbicide)

AMPA (a metabolite of glyphosate)

3-MMPA (a metabolite of gluphosinate)

Cry1Ab (the Bt toxin of gluphosinate)

All women had at least one of the toxins present in their blood, but there were differences between the pregnant and non-pregnant women. A large percentage of non-pregnant study subjects had both glyphosate and gluphosinate in their blood, while the pregnant women did not. However, 100% of pregnant women studied had 3-MPPA in their blood and 93% had Cry1Ab. Even more troubling—100% of fetal cords studied had 3-MPPA and 80% had Cry1Ab.

So, not only do all women likely have some of these GMO toxins in them, but they are passing it on to their children. This is similar to the research conducted by a German university finding glyphosate in all urine samples tested.

What does this all mean and what are the immediate dangers? That’s where more research is needed, though research is tightly controlled by the companies with the patents. We know that 3-MPPA is a propionic acid.

According to GMI’s report, this means it is classified as a Bad Actor Chemical and has warnings of cramping, burning, nausea, shock, vomiting, and sore throat if ingested. As for Cry1Ab, Greenpeace reports that it is an immunogen, meaning it creates an immune system response and could possibly increase the existing problem of antibiotic resistant infections.

All five of these compounds that the researchers looked for in their study subjects are classified as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS).
Yes, these chemicals that carry serious warnings when offered under other circumstances– the same ones that kill pests–
our government assures us, are safe."

After a glass of wine have to admit to myself the GM debate reminds me of my obsession all my life about aluminum and about prions--the scare of the last decade. The difference of course is that GM extends the scare to vegetable matter.

Having just visited my parents in their perpetual care home at the moment I don't give a rat's ass if GM turns my kids into alligators. I hate dementia worse than any other issue we don't know anything about.

Less texting and tweeting and tech style. More basic science.

Roger and thanks. A little pain a little pleasure.

Just a reminder. For what it's worth I've bred, kids are off to a good start carrying my genetic material and my wife's, our environmental influence, including my love of science and my dim view of media. The genetic material of those who don't breed vanishes.

Despite the thoughts of everyone who exists today, those thoughts do not carry on if you do not reproduce, and that is pretty much all that matters as far as the human species goes.

ETA: Talking about long term investment here, not scalping.
