Remember a few years back when Ross Perot was running for President? Remember those 30 minute or 1 hour long infomercials he bought in prime time to try to educate the American people about the huge debt crisis we had?
I was thinking tonight, I wonder what things would look like today, and what he would have changed or accomplished, if he had somehow won the election.
He had my vote and they sent it back to me saying that my change of address was not in prior to deadline even though I filled out the forms they told me I needed to use a write in vote.....

I think it would have helped, but time and again, we give the President too much credit and too much blame.
At the end of the day, it's the Congress that's primarily responsible for most of the nuts/bolts of our governance. The President has influence no doubt....he issues budgets that he'll sign, he gives guidance of what he won't sign....but ultimately, Congress holds the purse strings.
Ironically, it was that big eared midget that put WJC in the White House. Clinton was one of a few Presidents elected who didn't have the majority vote.
"A dumb man never learns. A smart man learns from his own failure and success. But a wise man learns from the failure and success of others."
I voted for him..voted my conscience...liked his message though I don't remember what it was exactly now. I guess things would likely be about the same anyway because congress wants to spend and create more laws and would not cooperate with anyone who might repeal laws or cut spending.
He was a good candidate but think should he have ever got into office then his chances on passing much through the Congress would have been very small considering he's an independent.
I think the Presidency still yields a good amount of power, but only if the man behind the Presidency stands for what he believes in.
I for one am tired of Obama saying one thing, but doing another. He was elected by promising to do what he says, and here we are.... same ol, same ol. Sure Congress is powerful, but the President has the ability to get on prime time TV and read off a list of all the Senators and where they stand on important issues, and where they disagree with the President, and he could follow up by saying and <senator name>'s solution is to <insert solution here>. It seems most of the opposition never has a solution, only a complaint.
I honestly go out of my way to remain ignorant of politics, it is just noise.
I don't know or care about the debt thing. Even if I was an expert on the matter it would have no barring on the outcome of what is going to happen either way. Just a waste of mental energy and time to bother with such things.
I'm not talking about a way to trade this. Just talking about trying to better our country, which I believe is mainly about educating more people to what is really going on behind the curtain or closed doors.
I don't mean trading it either. People don't vote on things like this. Obama got elected because he is a fantastic public speaker. Republicans will gain in the next election even more but not because of anything economic or policy wise but because of religious beliefs and bias in the general populace.
The stuff that matters literally IMO is out of our hands.
The one thing the people have is their voice, their numbers. It isn't that there is election fraud. Politicians are winning fair and square. The issue is the public is being bought by way of the big companies who own the politicians, and make sure they spend enough money to get them elected.
So I still believe in trying to educate more Americans, try to get them involved. I don't want them to just listen to my point of view, I want to get them interested enough to stop watching American Idol and go do some research on what is really going on.
Get involved, even if only to educate your family, friends and neighbors so they too can get involved.
