I think the US legal system is pretty crappy, it can be easily manipulated, just like any other system given that anyone with enough money can buy a jury or re-shape the truth.... but at the same time did you even bothered to read the article?

I can guarantee you two things, #1... the company deserves to be sued for their stupidity in hiring an idiot that would expose them to liability like that, and for not having followed up on the complaint properly... #2 .... Sexual Harrasment suits are always he/she said without corroborating evidence ... for her to get that level of award, even if it will be capped around $40MM, there must have been some level of proof...
NYC has had some major run away jury's. A boy was tragically shot and killed in LEO "freindly fire" and the mom got 125 million. Like an extra 120 mill will take the pain away after being well set for life if conservative. And it's all tax money that so much could have been with for the city.
This takes the cake though.
What pisses me off so god damn much though is that when tort reform came up - the GOP reps handling things made reasonable reform impossible - asking for a 200K or so cap!
I have a close freind who was almost plowed down at 30-40MPH by a woman who blew a red light while bent over the passenger seat trying to reach her cell phone. Her friend yanked her out of the way just in time - but hurled her 110lb frame into the concrete sidewalk edge hitting square on the neck. She needs disk replacements in her neck and back but it's in too bad of shape to do. She is too forgetful to even cook for her self, will need major painkillers 24/7 the rest of her life, shouldn't lift even 10lbs and will only get worse from being under 30. 200K is nothing to live on after that.
Can't call the democrats bleeding hearts for shutting the purposed reform down. More like the GOP reps handling it soulless whores for insurance companies ( who were flat out evil to the girl mentioned) and the GOP leadership that put them there the same.
Wish they would just keep debating tort reform year after year until the public said - "this is insane and we're not going to take it anymore.
