I would like to challenge your statement as I think it would be arrogant to claim they lack coding skills at NT. Besides looking at the history of NT Support Forum that's exactly what they did so far: hired most active and prolific users of the NT
What they do seem to lack is proper design and implementation process and for this the suggested external consultant would be the solution (as suggested by sefstrat)
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
It is not a just matter of coding skill. There are things that NT has refused to deal with. Like making data for the real-time indicators persistent. Talk with RJay, Zondor or the trail-blazer, Gomi. The post after mine talked problems with tick data, he was a lot meaner than I was.
I know, from experience, the model suggested works well in conjunction with what sefstrat recommended: Bring in a consultant (or firm) who has experience in getting to market final products.
I understand and I know exactly the difficulties we all have trying to make our point to NT (and I wasn't pointing fingers at you for being arrogant).
My main point though was that we don't know the inner workings of the NT development team, we can only guess.
But I know also that I personally (as probably any other human being) would have huge problem accepting feedback from someone who claims he knows better how to do stuff without really understanding the whole scope of problems
I am still young but have seen enough excellent projects being destroyed by "ego" of the project managers/originators of the ideas, to be carefull in giving absolute statements and solutions to other people's/projects.
The idea of hiring experienced external consultant is on the other hand very objective and harmless enough to human "ego" that it actually may help.
What I find perplexing is that the Ninjatrader data store, when played back:
DOES contain the data needed to allow the GomRecorder to determine the TickType (how the close price relates to the bid and ask). The TickType is what allows all of the Buy Sell Volume indicators to function. The GomRecorder allocates one byte to store it in each record.
DOES contain the data needed to show everything that is happening in Level 2, tick by tick.
But we cannot seem to to get the functionality that users of most other charting and trading packages take for granted, even though all of the necessary data already seem to be there.
I suggested to Ninjatrader that they use the Status field in the "Last" files to store the TickType. It would only take one byte. That didn't get anywhere......
I was having trouble with scaling Ladder charts, after a few hours the chart did not scale properly. NT made a change to 7b9 that fixed this: Ctrl+Click and you can move a chart up and down in position not just side to side and change the vertical scale. To me it is a super useful change.
What is the "Click" in Ctrl+Click ? If I know the "Click" then I can know what its equivalent is, on my MAC machine keyboard, 'cos I run my Windows XP on my Apple MAC machine in a Virtual (VMWare Fusion) environment. In any case, I use my mouse to just slide the vertical and horizontal axis to get a desirable scaling. Is this the same as using the Ctrl+Click ?
