There is a list going here, which Ray is at least reading (can't speak to his intentions):

You are right .

All the features asked by NT users for NT8 have to be included in a single document in order to send it to NinjaTrader.

Regards

Your ideas for new features sound pretty good. Have you asked for them in the NinjaTrader forums? If not you probably will never see them unless someone asks. Don't complain if you don't get what you didn't ask for.
Dan

Yes, Dan, their development team has had my input on suggestions. All of my suggestions are features that have been available with Trade Station for years (except below). I'm asking for basic things, nothing exotic. So far, nada. Here is one we have been waiting for. With NInja 6.5 we could select percent, currency or points from the control center "Mode" field. The beta version of Ninja 7 hosed the points feature. Now all you get are zeros if you select it. They have said it is on the list to be fixed; that's been almost 2 years now. Your account performence and trade log will not tell you how many tics you made any more. They broke it when ninja 7 came out and it aint fixed yet. Don't hold your breath.
Now, having quacked and bitched a lot, let me praise them to be fair. Ninja feels like a community; TS a corporation. Ninja fills are better than Trade Station. The Dom and Chart Trading on Ninja is better than the Matrix on TS. The Trade Summary and Account Summary are WAY better with Ninja. I love my Ninja templates. The charts are real cool looking. You don't have to pay a fee each month for Ninja. Ninja folks let you use the platform for free (I bought it). I quack a lot hoping that improvements will follow, but I do love my Ninja Trader. I still recommend it to people unless they are doing Historical chart work and back testing. The cumbersome Ninja global cross hair function makes that difficult.

I have never got a white window with NinjaTrader. Exception, when I used badly coded indicators. It may well be that the translation to NinjaTrader of the TradeStation indicator was not done professionally. Could you show me some screenshots?

Yes, I see what you mean about the code: different for Ninja than TS. I have the Nexgen software and perhaps their Ninja version isn't as clean. It was also pointed out to me that with all the charts I use, I may have too many "days back". I shortened the "days back" and things do load faster. I am using a Falcon F-15 trading computer with a solid state hard drive, Intel i7 930, 6 GB RAM. The new "sandy bridge" i7 2500 chip comes out early next year and I'm about due for a new machine. I'll be getting an EZ Trading computer this time from Eddy Z. That may help. Thank you for your input. I can't believe the number of posts you do to help people. You are very gracious to do so much work for others. I'll attach a chart to show you the Indicators that I use as you requested. I really do love the look of Ninja charts.
Thanks,
-Duck-

.........
I have just removed NinjaTrader from my computer. Literally, I am done with it. I will not ever be using it ever again. I spent close to $500 buying indicators for it, and that's money wasted, as well.
.........It's junk.

That post was from 2009 when NinjaTrader 7 was not yet out.

Quack, quack, quack.

I think that we should be more specific than just quacking around.

I do have some points to complain about, but this is true for any software package.

If you want the perfect tool, you will probably have to code it yourself.

Merry Christmas.

I use NT becauce of the broker I use and the cost of trading. For charting I use TS which is as solid as a rock but you still have to make at least 10 trades a month to get it for free. They have really improved the qualty of their platform
and it always works, not like 3 years ago.

Just thought I would say something on Christmas Day.

Ninjatrader's problems are almost all caused by poorly written indicators.

The quality of most Ninjacator coding is mediocre at best. The most common and glaring fault is sloppy, indifferent programming that blithely wastes CPU cycles. Common examples are failure to predefine the instances of external indicators, calling loops on every tick that can be modified to run only once per bar, repeating on every tick the calculation of variables that remain constant over the entire life of the bar, and processing redundant intra-bar ticks.

And of course, we STILL need to do multi color plotting by switching between several different plots, don't we. It's so much more fun to have the plots repaint than to use that newfangled PlotColors method. Why not just stay with version 6.5 while we're at it? I don't want to try anything that might be new.

There is a near universal aversion to using error handling code. The thinking (if you can call it thinking) seems to be that CPU cycles are free and that it's better for Ninjatrader to crash than, Heaven Forbid®, to have an error message appear in the output window.

With the above in mind, I have completed a major systematic project to optimize all of the indicators that I might ever even think of using. I even made new versions of most of the "@" indicators. Everything runs on CalculateOnBarClose=false. Since doing this, I have not had any crashes or freezes. This includes running complex workspaces in replay mode. Ninjatrader seems to be performing at a "mission critical" level now.

What are the major things you did to optimize the indicators?

Also, don't accumulate tons of indis that you aren't using. Delete them when you are done playing with them and you will do yourself a big favor.
