If you have the "Account" field in focus in Chartrader while "Global Sim" is unchecked under File menu, there is a chance that someone may inadvertently activate the "Live" account merely by the slightest movement of the mouse wheel or arrows. Just a caution as I know this has happened to a few before.

Apparently the problem is that if you uncheck "Global simulation" and you select SIM in the DOM it can be that the sim orders are being send live to your broker.

He might have an ATM who he enabled on SIM but no automated strategy like you refer to.

I just had a friend messaging me he had a $700 loss yesterday because he was trading on SIM, everything said SIM on his screens and apparently ninjatrader 7 final had been issuing REAL orders.

More reasons not to trade on SIM

You guys likely have a an ATM Strategy that has an associated Shadow Strategy which replicates your trade in the Sim101 account.

Thanks NT. That is most likely my issue as well. I still believe this shall not be a default option... as you can see it does cause confusion.

I did not have time to test more or follow up with NT support yet.

I want to react to firs post of this thread from AynRandFan. I use Ninja...and I must say - this software is full of surprises. In one way I would say its the best software and in another way...yep its peace of junk...

But my Ninja is no longer unstable. It has other bugs but its not unstable. It took me lots of googling but when you install it properly and setup your Windows correctly there is no problem.... But yes - there are many other (minor) problems which makes it eventualy one BIG MAJOR problem...

I just wanted to add my (about to end) disappointment with NinjaTrader. I'm in the process of switching to MultiCharts. Ninja has some excellent features -- not the least of which is their trade management. But the frustrations I have with the charting is enough to make me change platforms. I'm sure most of us who use NT know what those frustrating quirks are, so I won't belabor them.

For essentially the same quarterly fee, MultiCharts is BY FAR the superior platform. I waited patiently (along with everyone else), for NT7 to finally be released. But it was only worth the wait because MultiCharts didn't have a DOM and trade strategy management at the time. Now that it does ....

I have no vicious or vindictive things to say about NinjaTrader. My relationship with them has been good. The platform has been good except for what I've already stated. I wish them well ... because they are going to need it. They have competition that is rising FAST, and producing much better products.

I am using ninja with zen-fire. but whenever I open ninja , during opening hours, data is most of the time missing in between sometimes during previous close and today's open or data between midday and 2 am. Is anyone experiencing similar problems?

Try to setup your data series. There is session template - use 24/5 or 24/7 and reload your chart or restart NT.

Thanks Trigon, but where do I get the session templates from? Reloading does not help.

You can define session templates under Tools -> Session Manager or use some of the predefined templates. You can select them, when opening a new chart.

Thanks fat tails, but same problem after trying your recommendation. Data missing day before yesterday between 4.15 and 9.30am. Both in tick and minute charts.
