What is the probability for a New York Times headline

Spy became multimillionaire after reverse-engineering the fabulous trades of MetalTrade

LOL ok, that was funny, and they could honestly earn millions by just doing the opposite of what I'm doing :-)

haha

But still common guys, that's not really honest practice of ninjatrader is it ?

Aren't there any laws against that ?

I have talked to a number of NinjaTrader guys on the phone. They are no pirates. They need to transport the information to pay the royalties to TT. And they just forgot to encrypt it, because for them this information is not as sensitive as for you.

One question: The guy who started the thread "Is NinjaTrader spying on your trades?" became a member of the EliteTrader Forum on August 31st. And just by chance this was his first post ever. I think we have some experience here with new members that start posting on one specific issue. Usually the purpose is self-promotion or - as in this case - unpromotion.

In my opinion this thread and post was smelly, and that is the reason that is has been removed.

I am saying this as somebody who is not always very happy with NinjaTrader, and loudly thinks about other options.

The answer is yes to both questions.
I'm demoing Sierra and at first glance it is impressive.
...

The reasons fot not using it as far as I know now:

  • you can't trade trough zen-fire
  • no VMA (variable moving average) by default, and other useful indicators available for ninja

The second is not a problem, as I could program it (right?)
What about the first? Is TransAct as fast and reliable as zen-fire?

If you can post the formula SC will build it for you.
Dont know about transact but openecry is fast and stable.

If you are running more than 4GB in your system, and running a 64-bit OS, and you are an advanced user, you can use the large address hack:

Otherwise, consider "upgrading" to NT7 beta 20. NT7 does have superior memory management, you should be able to test a very large amount of tick data without hitting the memory wall.

Mike

So I was told by another programmer that NT 7.0 is not good with automated trading and back testing. Big Mike, give me your opinion on this.

My opinion is you should form your own opinion There are plenty of users posting and sharing their experiences here on the forum, you simply need to take the time to read them.

Can you drag and drop stops and targets in Sierra?
Can you define ATM strategies like Ninja?

Yes to both questions. It's a relatively new function, maybe in the last 6-8 months.

I have just switched from Ninja to Sierra, and adding this feature was the clincher.

Ninja is a memory-leaking resource hog, but Sierra is stable and 'lite' on resources.

Sierra doesn't interface with Zenfire as Ninja does, but they just added a Trading Technologies FIX interface. Velocity Futures offers the FIX engine at $3.60 round trip (ES).

But I digress off-topic....
Here's the Sierra thread:

My broker would love that. Transforming the account into commissions.
