Well, I suppose this is encouraging. Ninja release a Beta to 3rd party partners and NinjaScript Consultants over the weekend. With their track record on this I would not anticipate using NT 7 for live trading until after the first of the year.

That being said NT 7 will not by itself make you a successful trader.

That is strange. Only time NT has ever crashed on me was when I coded an endless loop. That was a foolish thing to do.

It crashes when I:

Add too many charts with a long history and CPU intensive indicators (mathematical calculations)

Backtest a low timeframe for a long period of time, over and over

Practice trading with market replay for an hour or so

It crashes cause it uses over 1gig memory while doing these things.

If one just opens 1 or 2 charts, no indicators, it's not going to crash.

It seems that Ninjatrader is a PA platform...

I did get a change to see it live today. As far as "crashing", this may be addressed by a number of memory-footprint enhancements that have been made.

Here a link to a recent developers comments about the new version...

That was interesting. Sounds like some dealbreakers for me though but I'm sure they'll fix it. I applied to be a beta tester. I will see if I get accepted.

One thing that surprised me is that they're now adding features that have been in TS for a long time. TS was way ahead but unfortunately they're dropping the ball and are no longer innovating. TS hasn't changed much in a while and NT is catching up.

Now I have to decide if I want to install a 64-bit OS. I'm concerned about all my other applications no longer working. I prefer not to have a PC for trading and another for the rest cause I do lots of personal stuff while waiting for setups.

Overall I don't see anything that will be revolutionary for the trading I'm doing now. I don't use multi-timeframes or many indicators (just a few moving averages). I'm keeping it simple.

"I tried to download additional replay data, and it said it wasn’t connected to a data source. I connect to eSignal and the feature works. Oh, so NT7 gets the replay data from your data provider I think… smart! I thought they were hoarding zen-fire data or something, but this makes even more sense."

Now THAT has me interested... Does that mean it it can replay imported historical tick data?

I have the same decision about 64-bits to do. NT7 supports 64, but...
Depending on your broker and his interface to ninja the 64 version will not work and a 32 version will start... A list will be published by NT.
