Hi, I'm having some difficulties with NT7 showing the right size of range bars and also having some gaps between them.

On the FDAX I have the chart set for 5 range but all the bar are 2.5. I checked the "Z" (FTSE100) and they are the same?? CL is OK but lots of 1 tick gaps between some bars. 6E is ok but again lots of 1 tick gaps between bars.

My data is a demo account from Optimus so its Rithmic. I'm still learning NT so probably the problem is ....me.....

I have attached two images fir you to look at..................thanks

umm, it looks OK to me. I see similar bars on IQFeed. Range is still an OHLC candle (for its range obviously) and some of those candles have granularity below the 2.5R you suggest.

Can range bars gap? Yep.

These bars have 5 ticks and regular range bars always jump a tick to start the new bar. Perfectly normal.

Aaaah, I think my lack of know how is showing. What I saw as 2.5 you see as 5. The smallest movement on the FDAX is not 1(as I was assuming) but 0.5 so a 5 range bar is actually 5 x 0.5 ticks = 2.5.

Am I right?

Sorry for being so silly but thanks for your patience...!

Correct. 5 range means 5 ticks, and one tick for the DAX is 0.5 points.

Thanks Fat Tails. At least that's another mistake I'll not make again..........
