Volumetric bars are basically built from the underlying bar type and then have a footprint added.

Therefore any indicator maybe applied to the volumetric bar, when it can be applied to the underlying bar type.

The Better Volume indicator is designed to work with minute data. Therefore you may also apply it to a volumetric bar with the base period type "minute".

Please see chart attached.

@Fat Tails,

FYI, I discovered that when set to Relative Volume the Indy does not print . . . However, when set to Absolute Volume the Indy dose print . . .

Thx, Rickr

May be you need to increase the lookback period of your chart. The Relative Volume indicator requires more data to calculate what is relative volume.

@Fat Tails. can BetterVolume be modified to ALSO plot separate Bid / Ask volume so that for set periods it could show a cross over? Preferably with a color change on slope or something similar.

This would be an entirely new indicator, not directly related to spread volume analysis as implemented with Better Volume.

@Fat Tails, not trying to use the relative volume. So what indicator might you recommend I start with to tweak for the description of separate Bid/Ask plots acting on cross overs? Needs to work with NT8 Strategy Builder.

Could you please specify what you call a "cross over"?

Crossover would be a Moving Average of Buy volume increases more than the Ask Moving Average. I am not a coder and tried to modify the EMA standard indicator but it was an epic fail.

The best indicator would color the EMA's with the rise, flat, lower colors but that is certainly an extra beyond the core request.

Thanks for any help.

I do not think that this idea is going to work. High selling volume - that is bid traded volume - can often be a bullish sign. Also this has nothing to do with the Better Volume indicator, as it does not differentiate between bullish and bearish signals.
