That's part of the risk of being a trader imo.

If you can't/won't accept the risk, maybe you should look for another profession.

All you can hope to do is take reasonable precautions to prepare for outages.
i.e. redundant systems, phones, internet connections, computers, and know how to hedge your trade, etc.

i completely agree, this is a risky profession, but there's no reason to take unnecessary risk. booktrader is capable of that protection, so its not like it can't be done, i was just wondering if anyone knew how with ninja trader. i actually really like booktrader, i just need an alternative now that they don't support one click order entry.

Ah sorry, I thought by reading your post that you needed protection if you could not get back your computer up and running. That's why I replied speed dial, but you said it was complicated because you live in NZ.

How can you bracket something that doesn't exist?

EDIT: Spelling.

Unless I misunderstand your question. If you want a stop and target placed in the market before your primary order gets filled, that's double the exposure in the event of a disconnect.

Agreed, there is probably a way to force NT to simulate the original order as well. That way, NT is watching the market from your PC and if it looses a connection, it will not be able to place the order so there is no need for the OCO.

The problem with this approach is you may experience more slippage due to market movement. Also, I don't know if DOM allows this on the original order. I can simulate this approach as a Strategy (I am a coder).
