I upgraded today and it has more bugs than a bug farm. I had to work with the tech from the company I work with to get it straightened out. I finally went back to an older version.
I wrote an email to Ninja support that IT SHOULD NOT BE MANDATORY until they work out all the bugs.
This happens EVERY TIME they do an upgrade.

Not sure what happened in your case I have about 35 different 3rd party assemblies including Lizard Traders and did not get any issue like mentioned in your case.

Here is how I did updated from 8.0.27.0 to 8.1.1.6.

1-
Did copy the ninjatrader 8 folder(old version) from documents folder and pasted in the same folder as a back up with name ninjatrder 8-copy just in case if something goes wrong.

Also made a back up through tools / export .

Close ninja with saving untitled empty work space as open space, I mean workspace without any chart.

2-
Did make a Ninja trader account username and set up password at the following link.
https://account.ninjatrader.com:443/register
once your registration is complete. Login and download the latest ninja trader 8 desktop which is 8.1.1.6

3-
Run the the latest Ninja exe downloaded in step 2.

4-
Do not start ninja if you have any of third party assembly which is installed in old version of Ninja 8 through msi or exe formate and not
in Zip files formate for example Shark indicators (Blood hound /Black bird assembly).Such assemblies are installed with ninja app closed.
In such case run those assemblies msi or exe files one by one and reinstall them.
Just install packages their license configurations will stay intact. You need not to deactivate and reactivate licenses .

5-
Start Ninja, login with your ninja credentials made in step 2.Your license Key will automatically be transferred to your user name with
which you will login for the first time after installing latest Ninja version ninja 8.1.1.6

6-
Accept all add Ons once they pop-up.

7-
Now you need to run all third party licensing through Help/ Third party licensing.
Give the Vendor name and User defined ID for all those third party assemblies Like Lizard Trader etc which are added through Tools /import/Add on method in zip assembly form.
you need not add zip assemblies just need the third party Licenses.

8-
Now You open the work space you want all indicators and third party assemblies will work fine without any errors.

9-
If you still get some compilation error go to New/Ninja script editor /indicators and double click any indicator.
right click on indicator window and select compile.

In the bottom the error messages will appear.Note those assemblies that are causing error.
Keep right clicking on error messages and keep excluding them from compilation.Once you exclude all those assembles
right click in the same indicator window above error section and compile again. Now system will compile without any error.

Now you can add those zip assembles causing errors through Tools / import /Ninja add on. Once done restart Ninja .
You will be all set.

I did install ninja 8.1.1.6 on all of my 4 machines and did not find any issue beyond whatever I mentioned above.

If still something went wrong and you are not satisfied you can uninstall ninja current versions and delete the ninja trader 8 folder in
documents folder and then rename ninjatrader8-copy folder by removing -copy from folder name and reinstall old ninja8 version you will have all old set up back again.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for posting this. It seems like an insane amount of work around just to update the software. If you are not actually with Ninja Trader brokerage, why bother? My understanding is that web based platform only works with NT Brokerage.
Please keep posted in a month to confirm that there are still no issues, gives me hope.

Thanks.

This upgrade is causing me tremendous pain - stability issues, charts freezing, indicators not working, unable to uninstall assemblies to actually fix indicator issues by doing upgrades etc. And no response from NT support yet. Yet the indicator vendors are pointing me to NT support ...

In addition the login process is PAINFUL as it does not work with modern password managers. Especially trying to work through all the issues and having to restart many times ...

And do I understand correctly this is all just for a certificate? I other words this could have been the smallest little executable update that installed a new certificate independently from whatever version you are running ...?

But now I think I can just do a restore and change brokers - that's a lot less painful.

Can someone please recommend decent broker?

Go back to version 8.0.28.0 If you have a brokerage account with Ninja, go to Download and select that version. That's what I did and I have no problems now.
Regardless what their tech team says, the new version is loaded with bugs. It will cost you time, money and frustration.

I minimized the pain using Dashlane's Chrome extension. With a few keystrokes I can copy the password from the browser window. It's a bit annoying, but nowhere near as bad as having to type the password manually every time. (If I had to do that, I'd use a windows macro tool such as AutoHotKey.)

If the problem is Vendor related, I just wanted to mention how Vendors have no responsibility to our problems. I tried to complain to NinjaTrader about my most recent issue, and this is the initial answer I received;
June 9th 2023

Yes, if you don't use CQG, you can use another version. I should have mentioned that. I use Rithmic so it doesn't apply to me.
Thanks for mentioning that.
