I was wondering if someone is using the COG indicator. (Oscillator version). Looks pretty interesting. Couldn't find a NT code yet. Will post it when I get it.
Well here is a 153-page discussion on Forex Factory, a lot of which seems to revolve around Belkhayate COG. I've not checked into the difference between Ehlers and this.
If someone can find the known-good version of code, I (or someone) can probably convert it from metatrader to Ninja. I just don't have time to read 153 pages to find the latest, known good version. Don't want to convert an old or bad version after all.
At first glance, I thought it was just an enhanced Polynomial Regression Channel, as they have very similar shapes. I also believe it redraws (as does the PRC) so beware.
Belkhayate stuff, as Polynomial regression channels, repaint the past. So you know, after the facts, what you should have done.
Playing with PRC and replay market data is very interesting.
I've never found usable informations in indicators which repaint the past...
Yup I agree. I modified my PRC to not re-paint and added some additional StdDev bands and increased the lookback period. I found that many times it captured reversals very well, but many times it did not.
I never could find any use for it however. The thing is, these days I measure everything in terms of return -- sure it may eliminate some bad trades, but it eliminated more good trades, so it was not useful to me. I could not find a way to effectively filter.
The closest it came to useful was using it as more of a Band like Bollinger Bands, and plotting the relationship of price within the band. Even then, it wasn't better than that same indicator based on real Bollinger Bands.
Getting back on topic to the Center of Gravity, the mq4 code is out there and you can also find the Gravity Bands code in the links above. I really, really hate math or I'd convert it. If it didn't repaint, I'd convert it even though I hate math. But when you combine my hatred of math + the fact it repaints, I am not all that excited about it.
Here is the Ehlers COG. This is my first post and I want to say that I am very impressed with the collection of knowledge and the professionalism on this forum. Big thanks to Big Mike and all those who contribute that make this site unique.
Nice work eleven. At first I didn't see the last line of your message and thought these were the bands The math in there makes my eyes roll back in my head
I'll be sure to check this out. You may also wish to upload it to the general file sharing section here:
