I use chart trader.

The ATM strategy keeps changing - even though I have the KeepSelected.. mode selected. It seems to randomly change between instruments.

Chart drawing objects keep disappearing - only to reappear as the instrument is re-selected. No rhyme or reason.

Charts freeze on data load, forcing an NT restart. This also blanks out the workspace forcing me to start from scratch - or utilize a backup if I made one.

NT crashes on a chart data load.

Sim trading orders go completely wacko. See attached.

It's weird, I have none of this issues.

Take your Pips, go out and Live.
Luke.

I scrapped NT 6.5. a long time ago and switched to NT 7.0. There are lots of minor bugs, but the overall stability of NT 7.0 is by far superior.

There are some precautions however that you should take.

If you start testing NT 7.0 with multiseries charting, you will for sure run into trouble. This is a feature that was not available with NT 6.5., so I will only use it for tests.

A similar feature is the session manager. There were some problems with methgods not working in NT 7.20. They have been replaced with new methods that are code breaking. Some indicators built for prior version may not run.

The feature for automatic merging of contract months has minor flaws. If you use multiple session template this may not work as expected. But it is already better than NT 6.5. where the forumula used for calculating the offsets is simply false.

So you can continue this list ad infimitum.

For simple tasks NT 7 is already ways better than NT 6.5., for any complex applications expect the unexpected. I have changed because it does not crash, whereas my NT 6.5. installation has crashed every day.

Well... what can I say? I have been using NT for 9 months now. When 7 was opened to public testing I was pretty enthusiastic. The bugs have been disheartening. I have close to 200 posts on the NT forums, mostly bug related. I have faithfully emailed CS with my trace files, log files, workspaces, chart templates and once the DB. Thus far every new release has been better.

.21 has broken me. I am quite discouraged with the product and am trying to find another option.

NT has some fantastic concepts - I am not sure that I will be able to find anything comparable. I was a fan. I recommended the product to 6 of my friends.

I am not sure how it is possible for an update install to go bad, or for my DB, workspaces and templates to go bad all the time. But I am all ears - NT represents a significant investment in time (and money) at this point and most of my bug reporting and patience have been about protecting that investment.

I guess I am starting to ask - when is enough enough?

This is my first post, so I might as well start with a question about tools.

I've been using NT 6.5 with success now and can move around pretty well within the app. I am now consistantly profitable. (Finally!!)

I feel this would be a good time to move to NT 7 to finalize the finishing touches on my strategy I will be using
for the forseeable future.

Is NT 7 stable enough , or should I wait until after the Beta period??

Hello to all and I look forward to many profitable years of trading ahead.

YES. I have not had a crash. There have been some problems, which I, along with many others, have pointed out to NT, but mainly minor things in my realm. NT6.5 locked up on me from time to time. Have not had that experience with 7. The things I like about 7 are that it loads MUCH faster than 6.5 when you have to restart from time to time. You can truly overlay indicators, unlike 6.5. It seems more responsive overall. I've been trading live with it for the past 2 weeks & have not had a problem. I only have 3 charts open and do not do any backtesting while I'm live trading (or ever, for that matter! No need It's pretty darned amazing IMHO.

After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!

b21 is working well for my needs. I use custom indicators and chart trader, and they have always worked good. I wouldn't trust the system backtester, however. I don't backtest any system with ninja, results are often wrong.

Certainly there are bugs, but so far is the best for discretionary trading, among the reasonably priced.

Not fun to realise that after having paid for a software, sent a plethora of comments to the developing team that finally what you have in hands is an unfinished product that have lots of potential but which you have learned not to trust completely in the end. I think you may have learned a valuable lesson here. Don't give your time freely to a commercial company no matter the promises they may offer. If the product was open source it would be another story but it is not the case. Consider the time you might invest into it if you program and sell your service. You'd pass your time to revise your code, trying to find what is going wrong and asking for a patch etc. etc. worse you have come to realise that you need to abandon it and use another platform. You'd need to reinvest time and money just get back to the same point you were before. Not a rosy situation.

I am still using NT6.5. I have no problem with it but it may be due to my long experience with such capricious software or i have been lucky. Why changing if it's ok with 6.5, i'd wait for the final product if it ever comes to life.

It's simple: NT6.5 production release is unworkable because it crashes to much during the day.

NT7b21 crashes less, but it still crashes a few times a week, without real reason, I always send my log files and mostly get a quick reply but they never identified a crashbug because it's not reproducable

NT is all I want on a functionality point. Functionality wise it's great. I love it.

I can't stand unstable software, it pisses me off. Especially when I have payed for it.

Thanks to all for the insight.

As I am far from a power user, I have never had a crash in NT 6.5 while trading. And only a couple while learning...opening and closing everything willy-nilly.

I only trade one instrument with mimimal indicators. Athough, eventually, I will be switching beween two or three to see which market is moving the most.

I think, however, I will wait for the official release of NT 7. Things are going too well right now. ie- Making Money!!!

thanks again...

I think this entire thread could be merged with the Truth about Ninja Thread (but I ain't a Mod anymore).

I still believe that both my SIM & live use of Ninja Trader shows it's robustness. Rapid click entries are a pretty good test IMHO.

How about some Orchid Fung Shui?

since i have written proof that ZTR is affiliated with ninjatrader I would suggest that all comments from ZTR about ninjatrader are being ignored by BM users
