My trading computer runs Windows Server 2008. My only protection is the Windows software firewall, and weekend security patches. On 2nd thought I probably should put at least some simple anti-virus software on it like eSet or AVG or Defender, but I don't worry about viruses because you usually get them from downloading files from anonymous or untrusted sources. I never download anything from that computer, it just trades. I don't browse the web on it. If I'm going to put some files on it I download it onto my laptop or some other PC first, play with it and vet it, then if I'm comfortable with it I FTP it to my server for use. I didn't mean to insinuate that you shouldn't run anti-virus software on your trading computer, but you should install and run as few applications as possible on it to enhance stability.

I run AVG on the trading computer. It's best to exclude the NT7 folder from the Resident Shield.

I have found Microsoft Security Essentials to be lightweight and a good performer. It also has the advantage of being free.

Have tried everything else, Avast, NOD, AVG, Kaspersky, etc etc --- all too bloated, slow, and some of them caused lots of problems with NT.

Running NT with the following defense lines

(a) Avira AntiVir

(b) Spybot/TeaTimer - system settings protector.

(c) Firewall of my router activated.

(d) Windows firewall activated.

No problems so far, but there may be better solutions.

After a few email exchanges, it appears they hope NT7 will become an official release in November. I will believe it when I see it but november is only a few days away. I'm not in a rush to start the new learning curve a new software package requires but I'm looking around.

I guess not seeing a release isn't surprising. It isn't the end of november, YET, but it's close enough. I pay my quarterly subscription based on the fact that I was told it was expected to be released. Let down again. All I want to do is trade, not beta test platforms I am paying for. Is a reliable platform with stable data and a reasonable level of support too much to ask for?

Can someone from NT enlighten us as to why the delays have been so significant? I'm not talking about just this month either. I mean the whole NT7 process.

I recently purchased a trading system that runs on multiple platforms for my wife to trade forex ... I was setting up the NT7 version on the wife's macbook under fusion on Win7 32b, and NT7 just crashed over and over.. after a while I gave up.. and then realized that i wasted 3 hours on installing NT7 (free version) with a simple vendor provided strategy... I had to laugh at myself... and then I thought about the NinjaTrader Tagline: "Architects of Electronic Trading Innovation" ... I couldnt help it but to laugh even more and think they should change it instead to: "Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate" ... those familiar with Dante's inferno should get a laugh as well... it sums up what I felt after I was done and just installed tradestation instead and setup oanda for her order entry.. what I should have done from the start..
