Ninja does store data twice, which makes no sense but is being fixed along with everything else in NT7.
It stores real-time tick data in the Access database that it uses to drive charts and historical engine for backtesting.
If you have Market Replay Recorder enabled in Options, it also stores data in files on the file system under the Documents\NinjaTrader 6.5\db\data directory. These are the files that I and others have been sharing in the Downloads section so that people who have gaps in their Market Replay data can fill the gaps by using the data that was shared.
