When to use BoolSeries rather than simple variable

I think maybe what you are getting at is if it is better to use a simple integer "int" to represent the bool state ie 1 = true and 0=false instead of using a bool.
I have heard that it is better for backtesting but have not read any posts anywhere to back that up.
