I have been using TradeStation but the group that I study with has indicators that work with NinjaTrader so I am switching.
Are the extra features of the leased and owned versions worthwhile?
Is there a Futures.IO discount code for either?
Here are the listed features;
Trader + enables the following premium features:
Automatically submit protective stop loss and profit target orders (ATM Strategies)
Chart Trader
One Cancels Other orders (OCO)
Order Entry Hotkeys
Custom Indicator, Strategy & Trading App Development
Automated Trading & Backtesting
Advanced Alerting System
Enhanced SuperDOM
Modify Orders via Indicators
Tabbed Window Management
Auto-Close Positions
Please note some features only available in NinjaTrader 8.
Order Flow + for NinjaTrader 8 enables the following premium features:
Volumetric Bars (footprint style chart)
Market Depth Map Volume Profile Indicator
Volume Profile Drawing Tool
Trade Detector Cumulative Delta VWAP with Deviation
Over the longer term (beyond the first year) owning a license is less expensive than leasing.
The free version is a good starting point to gain some experience with the platform to make sure you like the basic look and feel.
Trader+ gives you the whole set of capabilities of the platform. The Chart Trader is a feature most traders will want. ATM Strategies are also very powerful and useful to quickly automate trade management.
The premium level provides order flow and volume profile tools for those that need them. I have a lifetime license but don't use any of the premium tools.
As an Elite Member of nexusfi.com, you are elegible for the $100 discount off the price of the lifetime license. (See details of your Elite member benefits via this link.
I have moved your post from the Elite Circle subforum to the Platforms and Indicators > NinjaTrader subforum, where it may receive more visibility and will be more on-topic than in a more general section.
Unfortunately, there are so many threads devoted to NinjaTrader that it is difficult to be more precise in terms of where you might post your question or look for already-existing answers. I can suggest using the Search function to look for related Ninja topics to see if any appear promising.
There is a deal offered by NT to Elite members. If you click on the "Elite Members" link on the bar at the top of every page, it will take you to the list of offers.
I suggest giving NT a test drive by taking a demo. I believe they will provide free real-time data for a two week trial, and that it is renewable on request for another two weeks. I am not sure about the level of functionality available in the trial. Check their web site for details. Or someone reading this may be able to fill you in.
Actually using it may be enough to answer your questions more quickly and thoroughly than anything else.
Bob.

Edit: just saw that @trendwaves beat me to it about the discount.

I'd say try the free version for awhile first, see if you like it. sometimes its not a matter of better or worse, its just a matter of not being able to get used to a new system.
