hi,

apologies in advance as i'm a complete newbie to technical analysis and ninjatrader as well.

i'm interested in trying to get ninja's market analyser to have a few columns in it (presumably driven by indicators) to give me some idea of where the current EOD candle is (for stocks in an instrument list) in relation to the last up (high of) and down (low of) swing (and maybe as well in relation to the largest high and lowest low of swings x days back. I wonder if anyone can tell me if theres an indicator out there already or a better way to do this or a better measure to use to achieve the same purpose

Just to allow a quick scan/review of my instrument list (UK LSE stocks).

as an aside as I say I am a newbie learning ninja and technical analysis from the bottom up and so WAS using a free yahoo EOD feed until i realised ninja corrupted the current EOD yahoo values (as well as yahoo'd data being frankly pretty suspect on small/med caps) so now im importing good EOD data daily but obviously dont use a connected feed now (the relevance is that now mkt analyser works great for indicator values but obviously not the OHCL that ninja would take from the feed - as i say im a newbie)

TIA

ian

There are a number of indicators on the site to draw similar lines that may be enough to get you started. Some are only in the Elite section, but you could still do a search for "harmonic", "swing", "zigzag", "priceactionswing" and come up with a few results.

Big Mike,

thx for this, had a look but with a newbies eyes nothing jumps out of the page

like i said in my earlier post, i'm looking not really from the charting side but from the market analyser side just to screen a range of stocks(instruments) quickly against lowest low back x bars and highest high back x bars (bars in my case are days) ... so looking really for stocks near highest high or lowest low back x bars as one screen

whats so frustrating for me (about ninjatrader) is that i have everything setup in ninja 6.5 and have had quite a few crashes in 7 beta while testing and i can see ninja have the MAX, MIN instruments in 7 able to output in market analyser (allows you to input bars back in each instance of the instrument in each column - exactly what i want) as well as the charting. Now in 6.5 MAX, MIN instruments dont appear in market analyser only charting

You would have thought upon me asking ninja for a bit of code to get the max/min available in market analyser would be no problem (a few minutes) as its already in 7, especially as 6.5 is their current live version .. but not ninja support .... what a pain they are

Have you had a look for the 'Swing Gap' indicator.? I think it is a step in direction:
