One thing that may come into play is the .Net Framework updates. I've studiously avoided letting the SP1 update for 3.5 install. A windows newsletter I get still says avoid it if at all possible.
Pete
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I'm sorry you're having this problem too, it's very frustrating. If your machine is new, then it probably has the latest driver, but it wouldn't hurt to make sure.
Here's a link that outlines how to install/change a driver and you can also determine what the version/date you have now How to install or change a video driver
Once you know what video card and driver you have, then you can go to the website of that card and look for a new version.
Also, keep in mind that some machines that have been specialty built with certain hardware combos, etc. might have their own driver versions. So, you may need to check with the computer manufacture as well. For example, I know Dell would have it's own driver versions for a couple of laptops I've had in the past.
Thanks Pete, I'll do some research on it. I know nothing about these .Net frameworks, so I need to get up to speed.
Btw, if you have a link on the 3.5 issues let me know.
EDIT: According to the NT forum Net 3.5 is ok to use as long as 2.0 is installed. I'm tempted to remove all net framework versions and reinstall only those two, but... I know how to deal with the issue I have so I'll leave it alone.
My video card is a 1GB Sparkle NV9500GT SF-PX95GT 1024U2-HP I downloaded the latest driver from the web and I'll see how this goes. Thanks again for this thread as it came at the right time.
Well I hope that resolves it for you. I was very relieved to associate the problem to drivers/hardware, since I can deal with that. I really like NT, but this week I was seriously beginning to think I had hit the proverbial wall that many seem to complain about.
Have you tried clicking on the "Repair Database" button on the Tools>Options>Misc tab? Since I started doing this every day, I have not had any problems. The Microsoft Jet type of database that Ninja uses will grow without limit and become increasingly fragmented unless periodically compacted and repaired, which is what that button does.
I've set NT up on my computer (Intel Core2Duo, 3mram, Xp Professional and with 2 monitors) I use 2 DOM'S and 4 Charts. I've started to have freezing problems the day I've installed it and they recommended me to change Charting and Lagging Market Data set-ups.
I've change the Market Data form 0.5sec to 1sec, I don't know if it will change my executions, but it is better, and I put the indicators with "Calculate on bar close" on "true".
Have somebody done this stuff and got a result?
Thanks,
Felix Trader.
I'm using a 4Range Chart and 2 of 5min with 2Dom's on two monitors, using the Price Action Swing that I've downloaded from this forum, the Pivot Zones Dayly v31, the Trend Spoter and the Pivot Weekly v33 and one one of those I have it combined with Muly Oved Market Profile.
Hummm.... The problem I was having I think was related to the use of the non-standard Renko chart styles. NinjaTrader doesn't handle bars with 0 volume which is possible with some of those charts. If you are using the built in Range bar style, I can't imagine you are getting hit with the same issue I was experiencing. I use a few of the indicators above but not all and mainly working on an AutoTrading bot.
You might want to try removing one indicator at a time to see if you find one that may be the cause. Once you can Isolate the indicator, you should be able to post it back on here (if it is a free one) and someone might be able to find the problem.
