Could someone kindly point me in the right direction? I am looking for an indicator or a setting within NT 7 and NT8 which shows me the exits of a position I took in linear fashion. The green lines are manually drawn, for illustration purposes
This is my first time uploading an image, so hopefully I've done this right.
many thanks
Can you help answer these questions from other members on futures io?
are you sure you just don't need to turn it on in ninjatrader ? there is a setting maybe in chart properties - or if not in data series properties.. to plot executions. although I'm not sure if that is only for completed executions.
If nothing else turns up I have a marker system that does this in TradeCatcher on NT7, I'll port that part of it to NT8 next week. Out now, see if anybody else chips in or has something already first.

There is nothing in NinjaTrader to draw lines to connect the trade entry marker to the exit marker, if that is the question. I haven't seen anything that does it with user-written indicator code either.
@ratfink, if you got that going in NT8 it would be very useful. It's amazing they don't have it.
Oddly enough, NT does draw lines to connect entry/exit points for strategies. Somehow, they didn't think anyone would like it for regular trades, I suppose.
For what it's worth (nothing ), I made a feature request to NT to add it, and it actually has a tracking number. But it's not like they have nothing else to do.... NT support site post: https://ninjatrader.com/support/forum/showthread.php?t=108650

Actually Bob that sounds like a much better idea, as you say that is definitely where it should be and crazy that they have it for one side of the proverbial coin but not for the other. I'll wait and see if they can get their act together. I tend to try and do too many things at the same time as it is, so I'll wait a while on this one and hope they deliver.
Cheers

Well, I would say you're right, except that, if you check the date of the request, it's 3/27/18, nearly 3 months ago. In another 3 months it's probably still going to be pending....
But you will, of course, have to decide where to put your effort.

That would be a great feature in @NinjaTrader.
I’m always jealous of the people posting charts with the lines drawn automatically.
I’m now drawing the lines by hand which takes my focus of the market. I draw the lines shortly after closing a trade because if it was messy I don’t recall the exact entry and exit positions anymore at the end of the session.
I was trying to nudge @ratfink into doing it, but I don't know if he is taking the bait. We'll have to see.
It would be a terrific feature, but I think the NT guys are probably overwhelmed, and since NT users have already done without it for all the years NT has existed, it's probably not a priority for them.

they don't even have an option to hide drawing current trades overtop of the chart - which I admit looks cool, but for some people it would be sufficient to just see the PnL on the right.. and have a clearer view of the chart.
One of the Ninja partner had developed a suite of tools for Ninja and there was one tool that did exactly what you want but unfortunately the site is no more active. Given the quality of this suite i thought maybe Ninja could buy the exclusivity of his tools in order to include them in their platform but it did not happen.
You can plot the execution markers, but the question is about having lines connecting the entry and exit markers, which is not available in NT, unless you draw them yourself. The issue is to get NT to automatically plot connecting lines between the entry and exit, to make it more clear which orders were part of each trade, and how the trade turned out.
This is available in some platforms, but not in NT.

Thanks to everyone who is responding. I'd be happy to have a vendor chime in.....eg, prepared to buy something that plots (which NT should be thrilled to provide, as a matter of course, for free).
Lets see what develops

I was out all day today and football tonight (obviously, pain has to be sat through, although the boys delivered at last... ) but I have made preliminary tests and looks like I can access the tricksy stuff I need in NT8 same as NT7 plus thread locks already in place so consider it underway.
Cheers

The attached ZIP files contain the first Beta releases of rfkTradeMarks for NT7 and NT8, core functionality being the long awaited provision of configurable trade execution lines for NT ChartTrader users. I don't know why I didn't do this ages …
